Truck Grills on Funds Raise: Johnsonville Big Taste Grill

by Laura Ciocan

Johnsonville Big Taste Grill is a popular presence at American outdoor events, especially when funds raising is needed for charity.

Still, for those who have never heard of the touring big grill, here are some details: in 1995, at the 50th anniversary of the famous sausage producer Johnsonville Sausage – a family owned business in Wisconsin, the first Johnsonville Big Taste Grill was launched, world's largest touring grill. Largest gas grill, that is a truck weighing more than 53,000 pounds and measuring 65 feet long, equipped with all necessary utilities to feed a hungry crowd – hot and cold running water, a prep station and a refrigeration unit. The capacity of the grill is 750 brats at a time and around 2,500 per hour.

Gas Grills Often Turn Out Dangerous

by Laura Ciocan

Grills, especially gas grills, are an equipment to be used with caution and care, as they may just put you in danger. Most of the times, fires are started by gas tanks of such grills.

No further than November 17, a fire devastated the back porch of a house. It was started from a debris fire that was not completely extinguished and came dangerously close to three propane tanks for a gas grill that Robert Delphia was keeping on the porch. The pressure relief valve on one of the tanks activated, resulting in a loud noise that was initially described as an explosion, but the tanks did not explode. Fortunately, the incident ended quickly without victims or injuries, as the fire was noticed and reported in an incipient stage by the Police Officer on Gas Grills Often Turn Out Dangerous Recipe

Bertha, Vacuum Sealers & Frogs

by Tina Shake

I love kitchen gadgets. Over the years I have scoured the yard sales or scrimped and saved for various items like a curly potato maker, baked potato cooker, rice cooker, food processor, blender, ice cream maker, yogurt maker, snow code maker, well you name it and it has drawn dust in my cabinets. You know the story, get your gadget home and every night your family is eating curly fries and snow cones until finally you receive a petition signed by every neighbor and his dog supporting your family's decision to ban that contraption!

I want it!

This weekend I removed my egg money jar to see how much change I had saved over the year. I had saved enough to get me one of those vacuum sealer gizmos. I know you have see the informercial, the one Bertha, Vacuum Sealers & Frogs Recipe

One Bird the President Didn’t Pardon

by Paul Rinehart

Talking turkey

The talk around town in November was mostly politics, but after the election, people started talking turkey.

The thought of using a self basting or kosher turkey did not appeal to me, I’ve never liked taking too many short cuts, I find it ruins the fun. But I had heard a lot of talk about brining and how it cut cooking time down and made the turkey universally moist.

I did a bit of research, reading magazines and online articles and finally I got the basic formula: one cup of salt per one gallon of water. Salt and water seemed pretty boring so I researched further. Recipes for brine were a dime a dozen, some made sense while others were downright bizarre. Finally, I decided I wanted my brine to give my turkey a little One Bird the President Didn’t Pardon Recipe

Chinese Dining Etiquette

by Wong Yee Lee

At Chinese meal times, Chinese people use a round or square table. Person of the most importance would usually take the seat the farthest away from the door whilst the youngest or the person of the least importance would take the seat closest to the door.

However, if you are the host, usually you would take the seat which is closest to the walkway since it allows the most convenient movement by the host.

Unlike the western style, Chinese people do not use forks and knives. We use a pair of chopsticks and spoons. Unlike Japanese chopsticks, Chinese chopsticks have both ends of the same size whilst Japanese ones have one end sharper than the other.

There are several things to remember when you use chopsticks. Don't dig in the Chinese Dining Etiquette Recipe

Champagne and Appetizers: Let the Celebration Begin

by Bogdan Voicu

Are you preparing a romantic dinner? A party? Want to feel great eating alone? Whatever the reason, champagne is a definitely must. What to serve it with before the main meal, though?

There are some appetizers that suit with champagne better than with any other beverage or alcoholic drink: caviar, as an example, is so well known it doesn't even require presentation.

What more?

Foie gras

OK, liver. I just used the French term that chefs will use; please don't shoot me for that. I mean, champagne is French, isn't it? Anyway, try goose or duck liver. This soft, smooth type of dish will certainly increase your drinking experience.

Raw Oysters

A good combination but you should not use it if you prefer the oysters with lemon or vi Champagne and Appetizers: Let the Celebration Begin Recipe
