Sourdough Hot Cakes #1

***FOR SOURDOUGH STARTER***
2 cups flour
2 cups warm water
1 package dry yeast

FOR HOT CAKES
2 Eggs
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter

To prepare starter:
Mix together 2 cups flour, 2 cups warm water, and 1 pkg. dry yeast in a bowl. Cover with damp cloth and let stand in a warm place overnight or for at least 6 hours. (If left in oven, there is not need to turn on oven; pilot light will provide enough heat or turn electric oven to "warm".)

To prepare Hot Cakes:
Measure 1/2 cup sourdough starter and place in closed... Heat griddle over medium heat. Use 1/4 cup batter for one medium-size hot cake. Pour onto hot griddle. Turn hot cake when top is covered with bubbles and edges looked cooked. Brown on second side. Serve with honey and melted butter. Makes 8 Hot Cakes.

The yarns about Alaska's famous sourdough are as big as the country.  "Sourdough Pete," so the legend goes, first brought it from Michigan at the turn of the century. The old-time prospectors and pioneers, nicknamed "sourdoughs," wore their precious sourdough starter in a bag inside their shirts and slept with it under the covers to keep it from freezing. Trappers not only considered it their "staff of life" for the hot cakes, waffles, muffins and bread it made; they also used it for tanning hides!




Spinach Salad with Strawberries

This Spinach Salad may be prepared before the serving, but the dressing for this Spinach Salad with Strawberries may be prepared few hours before serving.

Take a large salad bowl and sprinkle sesame seeds of spinach in the bowl. Add some strawberries to the salad. After you have done this, combine the dressing ingredients provided below and shake well in a screw-top jar and chill.

This is a very simple Spinach Salad to prepare with Strawberries. After you have parepared the dressing pour chilled dressing over the mixture of spinach salad and strawberry in bowl and toss to distribute well.

Description

Apple Salad

Description

Unexpected combination, but really tasty. Refreshing light salad will go fine at th end of the dinne to relieve the feeling of satiety.

Method

Cut apples into small cubes. Chop eggs finely. Add peas, mayonnaise and stir thoroughly. Decorate with greens.

Roasted Vegetable and Goat Cheese Salad

1 onion

1 yellow pepper

1 red pepper

1 eggplant

1 zucchini

6 green onions

12 asparagus

12 cherry tomatoes

6 tbsp Maille Balsamic Vinegar of Modena

4 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp Maille A l'Ancienne (wholegrain) Mustard

1 tbsp fresh oregano, chopped

1 cup goat cheese, cut into small pieces

Salt and black pepper (to taste)

Peel onion and cut into slices. Wash and cut other vegetables into slices or wedges. For marinade, whisk Maille Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, olive oil, Maille A l'Ancienne Mustard and oregano to blend; season with salt and pepper.

Put vegetables in large bowl and add marinade. Set aside for 30 minutes, mixing often. Start barbecue and roast vegetables to desired degree of doneness. Roasted Vegetable and Goat Cheese Salad Recipe
