VEGETABLE PUFF

(12 puffs)
This is a local Karnataka specialty.

Ingredients:
1 Ready to use pastry roll (Pepperidge farms)
Mixed Vegetables. ( potatoes, peas may be added)
to taste Garam Masala
Green Chilies
to taste Salt

Method:
Cook a vegetable mix with potatoes, peas, green chilies and lots of Masala. Check for salt, before you stuff it in the pastry roll; no way to rectify it later.

Thaw the roll for about 10 minutes before unfolding. After the pastry roll has thawed, open it out on a flat sheet and roll it with a pin to make it a little thinner. The pastry sheet would now be about 12" x 12".

Cut the sheet into 6 pieces. Place about 2 -3 Tbsp of the cooked vegetable onto the sheet and fold it around it. Seal all the corners, by pressing the sheets together and applying a little water.

Stick it into a pre-heated oven (350 degrees) for about 20-30 minutes or until it browns. Make sure that you flip it around every 5-10 minutes.

The Taffy Pull (A Story and a Recipe)

by LeAnn R. Ralph

One year when I was growing up on our Wisconsin dairy farm, the Brownie leaders had announced we were going to make some extra-special candy at our next meeting.

So — when school let out one winter afternoon — I lost no time getting to the gym where we always had our meetings.

For once nobody was late, and when we entered the gym, the Brownie leaders already had everything set up.

"What's in the pans?" asked one girl.

On the table were several square cake pans full of some clear caramel-colored stuff.

"That's our taffy," explained one of the leaders.

The questions came fast and furious then.

"What do we have to do?"

"What's taffy, anyway?"

"But I thought WE were going to make candy…"

"You are," one of the The Taffy Pull (A Story and a Recipe) Recipe

Coffees of India

by Steve Smith

India produces two fine coffees, but even among coffee devotees – at least in America – they remain relatively unknown and un-drunk. That's too bad. They deserve to be extolled for the romance attached to them, if nothing else; happily, they also taste pretty good as well.

According to legend, coffee was discovered in Ethiopia. The first big coffee craze, though, occurred in Arabia, where by the 13th century Muslims were brewing and drinking huge quantities of it. Travelers from Arabia took the beans with them wherever they went – beans deliberately made infertile, allegedly, by parching or boiling. Because of this strict export control policy, it is claimed that no coffee seed sprouted outside Africa or Arabia until the 17th century.

Natures Cold Remedies In Your Kitchen

by Simon Mitchell

During the winter it can be hard to escape that shivery feeling that happens when you get too cold. A good immediate remedy for this is to wrap yourself up in a douvet and stick a hairdryer up it, (making sure the air flow is not restricted) until you feel warmed up.

Colds are the body's escape mechanism. When the whole system is overloaded it crashes. The body stresses out and the immune system drops its threshold. The nose releases toxic wastes in the form of mucous and the body often aches and feels exhausted. Pay attention to what your body is saying because an unchecked cold can become far more serious if you keep it buried.

If you are one of those people who can tell when you have a cold coming on, then it can be stopped, or at leas Natures Cold Remedies In Your Kitchen Recipe
