Cheese Strata

1/3 cup margarine or butter -- softened
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard (dry)
1 clove garlic -- crushed
10 slices white bread -- crusts removed
2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (8 ounces)
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
2 tablespoons chopped onion
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon pepper
Dash ground red pepper (cayenne)
4 eggs
2 1/2 cups milk

Mix margarine, mustard and garlic. Spread evenly over each slice bread. Cut each slice into thirds. Line bottom and sides of ungreased square baking dish, 8 × 8 × 2 inches, with half of the bread slices, buttered sides down, cutting to fit.

Mix cheese, parsley, onion, salt, Worcestershire sauce, pepper and red pepper. Spread evenly over bread slices in dish. Top with remaining bread slices, buttered sides up.

Beat eggs in medium bowl. Stir in milk. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours but no longer than 24 hours.

Heat oven to 325º. Bake uncovered about 1 1/4 hours or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.

Marylyn Monroe famed amongst other things for her love of Tea once said that, “World Peace would be with us if politicians drank tea at meetings” – or something to that effect. And she was very true in her words, very true indeed. A cup of Tea does wanders to all that drink it.

Did you know that people in Britain and the Republic of Ireland consume the most tea per person in the world? I always thought it was Japan or China but then their cups are much smaller than our cups! It is also interesting to note that more than 2,000,000,000 cups of tea are drunk every day throughout the world! That is a gigantic amount of cups and I can but imagine how many I contribute to that figure, about one I might guess! In weight terms, that equals out to 2 and Tea at Sea Recipe

The Mystery of Decanting

Decanting is a strange word to many people. Some do not even know what it means exactly. Taking the sophistication out of it, decanting literally means pouring the wine from the bottle to a special glass container. This is done in order to expose the wine to oxygen and enrich it.

What is the meaning of this process? Do all wines benefit from decanting or not?

The wine experts are not in agreement. Some say wine should be decanted in order to allow it to “breathe” and develop fully before consumption. Others claim decanting does not contribute to the quality of the wine.
