Others say...
"BEST POT ON THE MARKET" After having coffee at my aunt's home and experiencing real coffee flavor, made in her Faberware electric coffee pot, I dumped my Krups coffeemaker and ordered this one. There is no comparison! Coffee is more flavorable because it's hotter, and it stays warm longer. I would give this coffee pot ten stars! "Great coffee pot" This is my second Farberware 8-cup percolator in 39 years. The first was used daily for most of that time. While it required repairs over that time (the only original part that hadn't been replaced was the main body and handle) those repairs were easily accomplished by anyone with moderate handyman ability. I finally eliminated the old one when replacement was more economical than repair. I never hesitated for a second to buy the new one. I see some minor changes have been made to the design, a superior pouring spout for one, and a welded attachment of the main heat coil rather than screw-in model. The new percolator works as satisfactorily as the first. It is quick to finish and the results are consistent. While we have tried many different coffee pots, this is always the one to which we return. I wholly endorse this product. "Great Coffee!" This pot brought all the great coffee flavor I was hoping for, but not until I managed to pry open the lid. There are several metal flanges (?) which grip the inner rim of the pot, keeping the lid safely in place. One of them was incorrectly placed, and I finally managed to fix it after use of pliers and a wrench. That said, wonderful coffee pot, even with relatively inexpensive ground coffee from the supermarket. BTW, pot does make some comforting noise while brewing, but unfortunately, not the same perka-perka-perka of the old guys! "Fast and fine" I just replaced my Cuisinart 4-cup percolator ("glass" top melted) with this Faberware model. It makes decent coffee very quickly. There are only three minor drawbacks that I've noticed so far: there is no light to indicate that brewing is finished (the noise stops, though, so it's clear that it's done); there is no glass top so you can't see the coffee pulsing up the stem (a nostolgia thing for me); and it is not only loud - it doesn't sound like a percolator. It sounds more like an electric teapot. You don't hear that satisfying blub-blub of a percolator. For the price, though, I think it's a good coffee maker. The directions say to thoroughly wash the pot with detergent and warm water after each use. I take issue with that bit of advice. When I was growing up my mother (and all of her friends for whom I babysat) warned me NEVER to wash the percolator - only rinse thoroughly - what might look like dirt to me was only "seasoning" which helped to make a better pot of coffee. I know cooks today like "seasoned" pots and pans, why not also have a "seasoned" percolator? I never used soap on my previous percolator and never found the coffee quality to decrease. "Faberware FCP280 8-Cup Percolator" Farberware FCP280 8-Cup Percolator A great percolator that makes really hot coffee in a very short time. Great price and fast delivery time! What our customer's say! "percolators are the best", I am a coffee fiend. Must be hot and the only way for really hot coffee is to perk it. I have been a farberware user for close to 30yrs. I have had many problems w/my previous pots so I am trying again. I love this pot it is ready in no-time. A must have for the coffee connoisseur in you. "Back to Basics", I have bought several coffee makers over the years including one of the fancy "1-cup, quick brew models" and I just couldn't seem to get a GOOD cup of coffee unless I went to Starbucks.. Then I remembered that my mother in-law had an old perculator coffee pot that made a perfect cup of coffee everytime, so I went in search of one and I came upon this one and I love it! I wish I had gotten the 12 cup, but didn't because it didn't get very good reviews, however 8 cups just isn't enough for my household so we end up making 2 pots, not a big deal because it does make a pot quickly. I also love that I have no filters to buy. "Old faithful farberware", Farberware FCP280 8-Cup PercolatorAfter going through two of the newer type Farberware percolators in a little over two years, I went back to my old, beatup Farberware (with the hex nut in the bottom). It lasted quite a number of years but finally quit one morning. I was afraid to try the newer version again, but felt perhaps they had worked out the "bugs" (such as the "glug-glug" when pouring). I was pleasantly surprised to find they had updated the pot, along with a new type of cord. It works as well as the old pot. Am happy I tried it again. "Great coffee crummy cord", I am now a die-hard percolator fan. I feel downright "snobby" now when I drink coffee. I even threw my old drip away. This baby is great, but within three months, the cord developed a bad connection and I have to hold the cord in order make it perk. I'm more in need of my morning cup than I am afraid of getting shocked. I'm now purchasing a Farberware stove top perk. "The hottest", I love my coffee boiling hot! The drip coffee makers spit out lukewarm coffee, this is not satisfactory. The Farberware pots have been my favorites for 40 years. Always ready in a flash, boiling hot. What more could one ask for? ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Great percolator!", I have the 4 cup for when it is just the two of us and this larger one for when company arrives. It makes great hot coffee very quickly. I would highly recommend this product to anyone. "Fatally Flawed!", And that flaw is it's cup-a-minute brewing speed. Percolation is a slow process. Remember the percolators of yesteryear and how long they took to brew a dark and satisfying cup of coffee? Not so here. Leave the room for a minute and come back and it's done. Huh? Yes, this percolator tries to brew coffee WAY too fast and the result is like weak tea. I suppose you could use excessive amounts of grounds to try and get a cup of coffee that could be considered good but why should you have to do that? This maker is some sort of compromise aimed at impatient people. I won't have cared if I had to wait 10-12 minutes to brew coffee if I knew in the end it would be good. The coffee that came out of this maker was a joke. Move along. This is not for serious coffee drinkers! "The Best Cup of Coffee, I've tried them all....", I purchased the Farberware 8 Cup Percolator to replace my other Farberware percolator that I had for 10 years. The other one I had only went because of problems with the base it was the type with a timer/base that they discontinued. I purchased a good 'ol reliable Superfast Farberware Percolator about a month ago and LOVE IT. My coffee is always piping hot, it does perk very quickly and I enjoy using it everyday. It's a great deal here on Amazon and worth every penny, I've tried other types of coffee pots from all price ranges and other brands, I've come back to the best one I can find which is Farberware. I would buy again and/or give as a gift with no doubts. Others are more expensive but not any better, this one is great for coffee lovers like myself. "Classic Perculator", We've had our Farberware/Salton Fastbrew Perculator (FCP280) for about 6mo now and have been very happy with it. The biggest plus, aside from the flavor, has been the 7-9min brewing time--almost the same as an autodrip. Construction is fairly rugged; all stainless except for the handle and whatnot, which appear to be made from some sort of bakelight or phenolic material. Cord is a detachable, two-prong appliance type, and about 18" in length. The water markings (graduations) are stamped inside the pot and a bit hard to see when filling, and in fact are a bit off. At the eight cup mark, it is actually only holding about 7 cups and some change. I began by using the pot with pre-ground coffee, but have since switched over to grinding my own, 'perk' coffee is apparently much coarser than auto-drip, and as such has less of a tendency to clog the filter basket. Only issues we've had--1. There is no brewing adjustment as found on some other higher priced units. This means you need to wait for the pot to cool off first (or flush w/cool water) if you want to make successive batches, and you may also have to use a scoop or two MORE of coffee than normal to compensate for the fixed brewing time. 2. We've begun having some brewing issues with the unit, sometimes ending up with a pot of 'tea'-like coffee that has to be dumped. We presently have a call into Farberware regarding this-- Other than that I would definitely recommend the product. Seems very well made and efficient, and cleans up well. "Great Coffee for 1 year only", I bought the Farberware 8-cupe percolator on the strength of Amazon customer reviews and enjoyed piping hot, delicious coffee for about a year. Then, the percolator began to deliver only a lukewarm and very weak brew. I am trying to decide whether I should try another brand of percolator or return to my French press. ![]() |
