"Way too small and cheep"
I got this unit to make french fries ... it will only cut potatoes 4" or smaller ... so most potatoes have to be cut 1 or 2" shorter ... and the fries are too small. In expensive plastic unit with the handle and cutters are the only metal on it ... pass this up and use a knife ... RT

"you get what you pay for"
The blades on this thing collapsed the first time I used it. When I examined the blades, they turned out to be a very thin metal that were joined with half notches, making them more fragile. Buy at your own risk.

"carpal tunnel in both hands"
Using small potatoes, especially the red potatoes, cutting them in half
ladies with a little patients, the out come is perfect with a little olive oil and sea salt enjoy.

"nice cutter"
It cuts!
What else could be added? It would be nice to have blade with smaller holes... but it is precisely described and I am happy with it!

"HEALTHY MEALS"
I've been trying to improve my kids diet - this easily cut potatos into fry size which I oven baked and the kids gobbled up. Unforunately I also wanted to make sweet potato fries - but there was no way this tool could cut through them.

What our customer's say!

"For the 'French Fry' lover!", Hi,
This vegetable cutter is great for the small jobs around the kitchen. My primary use is for homemade fries made from fresh potatoes. I use the 1/2" head and am very pleased with the results. Works smoothly and with little effort, if I remember to cut up the product first so it doesn't jam against the edges of the cutter. Cleans easily and stores in a small space. Has become an indispensible tool in my kitchen.

"What a disappointment", Worked great...until the 5th time when the blades started coming apart. Cheap too thin blades are the culprit. I would have spent a little more to get better blades and something that would last longer....not worth the money and should be pulled from Amazon!! this is a LEMON

"French fries", Does not make fries well. Takes too much power to use. I'll probably never use it again.

"Great deal :)", When I saw this little gadget I was thinking it wouldn't last very long with the abuse I know I would put it through in my kitchen, but to my surprise this little darling is amazing. It was worth every penny I paid for it, and I plan on buying this for my friends and family. If you enjoy making fries or other items then buy this product and stay away from the high-end stuff because this little gem can keep up with the big boys :)

"Great Value", Since I have manually been cutting my own French fries for sides, I figured I would try it for the price and found that it worked much better than expected and saved tons of time/labor. A large Potato may need to be trimmed or squared off slightly to fit easily, but the slicer works great and cleans easily.

Unlike other reviews that nearly scared me off, the lever felt solid and easily cut through the largest potato with no problems as long as you have a little hand strength to get it started. The slicer is equipped with a long hand lever (moment arm) for increased inertia which results in reduced cutting effort.

Just a great product for the price for anyone who is manually hand cutting their french fries. There are 2 different blade options for thicker or thinner fries depending on how you like them. I have just used the thicker blade and only use it for French fries but would imagine the smaller blade would cut even easier.

"French Fry Cutter", My mother gave this one of these several years ago! It is wonderful! She really likes how it works and it upset she did not keep it for herself. I am going to purchase one for her today for her birthday!

"Great for all veggies!", Perfect for french fries...cutting up tomatoes, peppers, and onions for salsa...for zucchini and squash. Altogether, a great buy! :)

"Progressive International Vegetable/French Fry Cutter", I've been using it regularly for the last few months and it's been great. I have only cut potatoes, though, so I can't speak for the quality when cutting other vegetables.

Potatoes of the bigger variety need to be trimmed, even when using smaller Russets (for french fries), an end may need to be cut and a side shaved a little bit. In combination with a deep-fryer, they create AMAZING fries.

It comes with two attachments, one for thinner cut fries, and one for thicker cut fries. Both work well, however the thick-cut blade seems easier to push the potatoes through. It will take some muscle to get them through no matter what blade you use, though.

My only gripe is that the white grip piece on the handle has come loose and sometimes slides. Not enough of a hassle to effect the rating though, as the product is really inexpensive. Worth every penny and then some in my opinion.

"a fun little toy", It works just like you would think. Put the potato in and push the lever down, out come the french fries. For a big potato you have to cut it into pieces. The fries will be crispier if you soak them in water a few times before frying. Have fun.

"Practical and affordable", I waited about a year to review this product because I wanted to see if it would last a year--it did. I want to point out that this is a home sized potato and vegetable cutter. It makes great french fries and is a helpful onion cutter. It is not difficult to clean.
However, it is a smaller sized cutter. If you were looking for a french fry maker for a comerical kitchen, I recommend going bigger than this one.
If you are cooking for a family of five, this is a good way to go.
