"Not Enough Heat"
First review I have ever given on Amazon -- although I am a Amazon Prime member and buy a lot of stuff from Amazon. Great looking piece, but it just doesn't get hot enough to make pancakes (in it's open configuration). It will make waffles if you are willing to wait a very long time and flip the waffles, so they are done evenly. I like the idea behind the design, but the heating element is just poorly designed and too weak. I purchased this as we have a Mickey Mouse Waffle Maker by VillaWare that is great and makes a waffle (one MM waffle) quickly and easily. With my family, waiting 8-10 mins with moving the waffle to get it even just doesn't work. I made waffles today and have gone back to using our basic GE waffle maker, even though it's not Belgian. I would not get this product again and if I could find the box, I'd send it back.

"Villaware - Multi-Baker - Belgian Waffle, Raised Rib Grill and Flat Griddl - V6150"
I've owned a Villaware Multi-baker before but destroyed the "teflon" plates in my dishwasher. It wasn't until I purchased the V6150 that I read you're not supposed to put them in the dishwasher! So far I've only used the flat griddle (for pancakes) and I'm satisfied with the proformance thus far.
4 stars only because you can't put the plates in the dishwasher.

"My favorite appliance"
I came on this site specifically to laud the Villaware Belgian waffle multi-baker, and was surprised to see the low ratings. I have used mine for all its intended uses for over five years without a lick of trouble. It is a little low powered but my waffles always turn out great, as do pancakes made on the griddle and especially grilled sandwiches. It's truly easy to clean, requires no non-stick sprays, and tucks away on a shelf when not in use. The chrome surface and heavy handles/feet are durable and still look like new.

"Great, multi-purpose machine!"
After reading all the negative reviews about this "Multi-baker"
I was hesitant to purchase it but, I'm very glad I did! My grilled chicken came out great as did my waffles! I think the key is to follow the instructions in the booklet and preheat the unit for about 10-15 minutes before cooking. Also, when making waffles, spray the grids with some sort of oil. The waffles did not stick at all and came out crispy and well cooked after about 8 minutes!
I'm very happy with my multi-baker!

"Waffler Review"
The product met all expectations. The only small improvement needed would be better clamps to hold the changable plates. It bakes excellent waffles and grills sandwiches perfectly. Clean up is a snap with the removalable plates.

What our customer's say!

"Useless for waffles, So-so for sandwiches", As other reviewers have mentioned, it takes forever to cook waffles and they just don't come out right. It does make good sandwiches, but the grill/griddle plates clip in with just a single clip and the top one frequently falls out when opening the lid. For safety, wear an oven mitt and don't let kids use it.

We still use it to make sandwiches, but we will probably replace it soon. It's more trouble than it's worth.

"RECOMMENDED", I searched for an indoor grill with interchangeable plates for awhile. Finally, I came across this item. It works great!!! The only complaint I have is with the grease spouts. Always place a plate or tray underneath it besides a cup. There will be spillage. The waffle plates are nice and deep. Just remember to preheat grill!!!

"Soft waffles is all it makes!", I had this product for a few years now, and have only used it a dozen times or so. The reason why is because I have never been able to get it to make crisp waffles. No matter how long I let it cook, it usually takes at least 11 min. just to cook a waffle that is soft. It will not cook a crispy waffle at all.
The other problem is that I have to coat it with massive amounts of Pam, or oil, and even then they will stick frequently.
So, I finally got sick of soft waffles, and fighting the thing for them! I just did the right thing and threw it in the trash, where it belongs!

"Poor Quality", Grill did not get hot enough to cook pancakes. The non stick coating is flimsy and flakes of easily. Too bad, because I really like this type of grill as it is easier to store than a regular griddle and is also good for making grilled cheese sandwiches. I replaced it with a Black & Decker that works very well but is not as large.

"Love It!!", This is not your typical waffle iron. It is one appliance that I use the most in the kitchen. It is not as sturdy as most waffle irons, but the pluses outweigh the minuses. What I like the most is that you can remove the plates completely to wash them. This is my second one, and I like the new featuers. Smooth handles making cleaning easier and bigger feet. I recommend this to anyone with limited space, who needs an appliance that can be used for more than one thing! I have become the gourment grilled cheese and Pannini Queen!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"A waffle iron that can't make waffles", This is a truly lousy product -- it doesn't seem to get hot enough to make waffles, the non-stick plates aren't really non-stick, the hinge that holds the two sides together gets deformed with use so that they don't sit right, and the interchangeable plates don't sit very securely.

We got this as a wedding present 2+ years ago, otherwise I'd have thrown it out already. I used it today to make sandwiches and got so mad that I went on Amazon just to leave this review. Did I mention that it's also hard to clean?

"poor design and poor product support. not worth the money", I have had this appliance for a couple of years. So far I used it for grilling once. It did not drain the meat juice well and it spilled all over the place. I have used it to make waffle 4 times and every time it was difficult to remove the waffles even though i coated it with non-stick spray on the non-stick grids. I followed the suggested handling and cleaning instruction and have been careful not to spoil the coating. the last time I used it I noticed that a lot of non-stick particles came off into the waffles. I had to throw them out. now the alluminum grids are very much exposed and flaky. I called their customer service and was told that I could not buy replacement grids nor would they repair them for me even for a fee. Right now this waffle maker is useless.

"VillaWare Waffle Maker 6150", We ordered prior to Christmas from Amazon, as they were one a few places that had it "in stock". It arrived Jan 17, with the handle broke.BAD They did get a new one to us by the 20th GOOD.
The new one does not seem to be getting hot enough to cook the waffle, and I have not had much luck with VillaWare resolving, other than send in at my expense.
What would you do?

"multi-purpose....", I had no problems with the waffles sticking. I'm not sure if the other reviewers followed the directions...but if you oil the surface before you put the batter in and let it thoroughly cook, the waffles won't stick. I used canola oil, and the let is do it's job. after ~3minutes I tested opening the iron. Meeting resisantance, I let it cook longer. Around 5 minutes the waffle iron opened without any reistance or sticking.

I used the recipe that came in the booklet. Next time I'll add a little more vanilla to the batter.

I've also used the panini/grill. I love the fact that this is a dual purpose machine.

I have only 2 gripes:
- the machine seems a little flimsy, but i think that is a function of the hinge (which is necessary to have the variable height)
- the metal surface has no insulation and gets very hot. I can forsee the potential for burning my fingers.

Overall, definitely a must-have for it's versatility (and the fact that no other machines are multi-purpose)

***update: I have burnt myself on the metal surface by just incidental contact when reaching for a spatula. The burn was actually pretty large and blistered. If you have children, I would recommend constant supervision when using this machine.

"I finally tossed mine in the trash where it belongs!", I've owned this alleged waffle maker for years now. About once a year I break it out to make waffles. The one I have heats fine but the non-stick surface it terrible. I've tried the spray-on vegetable coating and even brushing the hot plates with vegetable oil and nothing works. I have tried different type of waffle batter and still nothing works.

After I get frustrated and clean the waffle maker up I usually put it away until the next year. But not any more, off to the trash it went. It may be good for some other uses, but a waffle iron that won't make waffles in my opinion is useless.

Even though I've shopped on Amazon since the beginning this is the first review that I've written. I've checked the past review of this product and found a "Top 10" reviewer that gave it 5 stars. Of the more then 1600 reviews that she gave, all where 5 stars. She is either extremely lucky or full of the stuff that my ex-waffle maker made.
