"Baker's Rolling Pin"
This was on my daughter's wish list; since then I've put it on my own wish list. It's a beautiful piece of wood (created by a famous maker of drum sticks), with just the right heft and feel. I also bought the set of rolling pin rings to go with it that allow you to roll dough perfectly level; they're a great combo.

"Awesome rolling pin"
Buy it! I bought this in January and can now make fantastic pizza dough and pie crust easily. This is the secret to all things in the kitchen that must be rolled out very thin. Absolutely love it!

"So much better than marble!"
Until I purchased this rolling pin, I had a marble one. The dough would often times stick to the marble one, but not this one. It is lighter, longer and easy to use! I really like it!

"A little short for the job"
It is a little small to work any dough of consequence. It works well if you are working with a very small dough. This might be a pin to have if you are developing quiver of rolling pins. I bought the OXO rolling pin with the handles. I like that much better

"Viv Firth French Rolling Pin"
Nice size, feels sturdy in the hands and rolls out dough easily and quickly! Great produce at the price!

What our customer's say!

"Perfect for pie dough", This rolling pin is a great addition to my baking tools. It makes rolling out pie dough a snap. It is so easy to maneuver and gives you better control than a standard rolling pin.

"Bakery pin: perfect for everyone", On the current Amazon page, three Vic Firth rolling pin models are listed together -- this review is for the bakery pin, which is about 20" long and of uniform width, without separate handles.

I wanted to mention one thing explicitly that I hadn't seen in other reviews -- this is a great rolling pin for all hand sizes and strengths. If you have arthritis or a hard time gripping handles, this rolls nicely under the palm & fingers with plenty of room for your 12" dough in between. If you have large hands, the wide ends are much more comfortable to hold than the narrow, tapered ends of a French pin. Kids can get leverage on it, since there's no spinning handle axle or specialized technique required. Everyone in my family can use this rolling pin and get excellent results. That, to me, is a terrific feature.

And yes, like everyone else has said, it provides great control, is effortless to maneuver, and really attractive. It's easy to clean, and needs no more attention than your butcher block; just condition with a little oil occasionally, and don't soak it in water for long periods of time.

"Good French Rolling Pin", If you like French Rolling Pins, this one is pretty good. It arrived quickly and is exactly what I expected.

"Excellent basic pin", I've been looking for a basic french rolling pin and this was the answer. Small and light, unlike my heavy, old rolling pin with metal in the center that kept rusting.

Perfect for my pie crusts!

"not a drumstick for sure", freaks me out a little that Vic Firth makes drumsticks and rolling pins. Bakers swear by it and, so do I!

"Works Well", works very well and tooks some getting use to since I have always used a standard rolling pin.

"Not much to say...", ... it's a rolling pin. Nice smooth finish and a perfect size for home use. Very easy to control and work with.

"great control", This style rolling pin gives great control. If you are used to using the traditional style rolling pin it'll take a bit of getting used to but once you do you'll never go back to your old one. I love it and won't use anything else.

"I like it!", The picture is exactly what you get. It arrived on time. The solid maple smells lovely -- faintly like freshly cut wood. Too bad it's not made of fir -- could also be used as a Christmas tree. (Just kidding about the last part.) It's the first time I've used one without handles. I like the way it feels when rolling out bread doughs. Thick, straight, smooth, just the right weight. Works very well. And you can bear down as much pressure as needed, without concern of bending or breaking handles like I've had happen before. Easier to clean than one with handles. And the current $12.99 seems like a reasonable price for what you get (i.e., North California standards, that is).

"It's a rolling pin", What else can be said? As a rolling pin, it works great, though it looks more like a billy club. It would work great as that also. However, if one was smart (and apparently I wasn't), one could get the same thing at the hardware store for much less (my minor daughter's observation). What we won't do for a name. And from a maker of drumsticks, no less. Be smarter than me by shopping around. By the way, I stand by my 5 stars because it works wonderfully as a rolling pin.
