"No easy way to pour"
This thermos is not one you would want for beverages. The spout does not open easily for pouring.
Also, this thermos is large not easy to put in a briefcase or have at the office.

"A Great Investment!"
I don't know why I didn't buy this insulated thermos/bottle sooner. I was skeptical when I read other reviews about it containing the heat of it's contents for several hours but it does. When I opened the container a day later the fluid that I'd poured in the morning before was still warm. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Highly recommended.

"What more could you want?"
The body is all stainless, so it cleans pretty easy. It holds a lot, stays sealed. There's not really much to it.

I use it for smoothies and cold soups, not for coffee. I can only speak for the cold stuff, but it keeps smoothies ice cold for at least 8 hours. It probably goes much longer, but I've never left it in there for that long. I can even leave it open and it still stays cold for hours.

The size is really great for smoothies, breakfast shakes and so on. 26 ounces is plenty. Many/most blenders are 50-52 ounces, so me and my girlfriend make a full blender in the morning and it splits 50/50 into two of these. I typically take it to work and sip on it for a couple hours.

If you decide to use it for smoothies, like I do, make sure to get a canning funnel or some other funnel with a wide hole. I'm sure the 2" hole is big enough for liquid, but really thick stuff tends to plop out in surges, so you'll make a mess, otherwise. Also, you might want a big bottle brush to facilitate cleaning in case you forget to rinse it out right after usage.

I have had no problems with leakage, as some people have reported. Just in case, I rub a little food-safe mineral oil on the gasket once a month.. the same type of oil you'd use on a bamboo cutting board, etc.

Lastly, though I can't recommend it, I have put the base in the dishwasher many times with no problems. It's solid stainless, so I don't see how you could go wrong there. Don't put the cap or the plug in the dishwasher, as it has rubber and plastic.

"Works great!!"
This bottle is amazing!! It's very easy to clean; just rinse and go (can use a bottle cleaner for deeper cleaning). Keeps beverages hot for hours on end. I haven't used it for cold drinks yet. Have used it for tea, coffee, and even hot cocoa!

I've had it for about 1 month and I love it! At such a reasonable price, I save loads of money by brewing and drinking my own beverages instead of having to stop at the vending machine or Starbuck's.

"The Best Thermos Ever!!!!"
Now, if you are reading this, you are in the market for a Thermos. Nissan Thermos are the BEST. I have owned a Alladin Thermos and the Coffee/Tea gets warm after several hours.

I bought this one and used it. This thermos rocks. It stays hot after 12 hours. WOW. One time I forgot it at work. The next day I emptied the contents and it was still very warm. That over 24 HOURS!!!

Just buy it... You will not be disappointed.

What our customer's say!

"no better than any other thermos", I'm giving this 2 stars just for its looks. It is a nice-looking thermos but so far has not proven any better at keeping things hot than any other one on the market. I poured boiling water into the thermos, sealed it and let it sit for 20 minutes or so. I emptied the water, put a filter cone filled with coffee on top and poured boiling water through that into the thermos. Sealed it up, took it to work, had a small cup of coffee. About 5 hours later, mid-afternoon, I poured what was not really hot coffee for a 2nd small cup and when I went to freshen that it was totally luke warm. I suppose I could buy a little coffee maker, brew the coffee in that and pour that straight into the thermos, but doing it the way I am, which may inherently result in less hot coffee, is simpler and how I want to prepare it. Seems like, even brewing it the way I am, should stay much hotter, much longer.

"Great Thermos", There isn't much to say about a thermos. This works exactly like I wanted it to. It keeps my tea hot all day, it pours nicely into its cup-lid, and it's easy to get to work. The only minor complaint I have is that the opening is fairly small, but I think it's worth it for the benefit of a conveniently sized thermos. Would definitely recommend this for anyone who would be using it on a daily basis.

"Chiming in with a glowing review", Based upon the excellent critical and positive reviews here, I purchased this Thermos, and I'm not at all disappointed. It's exceeded my expectations, in fact.

An example: I filled it with hot green tea yesterday at noon. It's now 9:30am, more than 20 hours later. I was expecting lukewarm, or even room temperature, tea, and was surprised to be greeted with steam when I unscrewed the stopper! It's still hot! Not as hot, of course, but I also did not "pre-warm" the thermos with hot water before putting in the tea.

Other things I've done wrong besides not pre-warming would be filling it too full, then screwing in the stopper and causing a little overflow (there has to be room for the stopper, obviously). Even with the stopper in tight, this is a recipe for spills as the liquid moves around, expands and contracts, plays cards, whatever those crazy liquid molecules do in a Thermos. However, the "lid/cup/cap" thing you screw onto the very top caught 99% of the spill after the overfilled thermos Jostled around in my accouterments. I know this because the inside of my bag was not a mess (a tiny little wet spot on a paper, but I like tea stains anyway), but when I unscrewed the lid/cup/cap thing, all the spill came out. Thank you, lid! That could have been bad. This is a product that compensates for user-error.

The construction is fantastic. It's strong and pleasant to look at, and it feels like it holds much more liquid than you'd think it should by its appearance. When I'm filling it, I keep pouring and pouring. Isn't it full yet? No? More! It's shiny, though, and will show fingerprints and water spots. Not that I care. It's very LIGHT. I was expecting it to weigh much more. It's lighter by far, even filled to overflow, than all the books I lug around with me.

I only have two (minor) critical observations. The stopper must be screwed tightly into the bottle. This can make it difficult to open if you have, say, lotion on your hands (I often do). It's also a little hard to clean. It's not a big deal if you have a bottle brush, and even if you don't, you can just fill it with water, a little soap, and shake it around. Just make sure you get all the soap out. And finally, the pouring is not flawless. It dribbles a little. I don't really care. If I do it with skill, it doesn't dribble at all, and it's pretty ingenious to use the stopper as a pouring mechanism (you pour with the stopper in place but unscrewed somewhat).

Is this a Japanese design (Nissan) with an American label (Thermos) manufactured in China? Or an American design with a Japanese label manufactured in China? I think it's the former, making use of some Thermos patents. It is definitely a bi-lingual product, having instructions in both English and Japanese hiragana on the stopper. That way, if someone who does not know what "pour" means, they will hopefully know what "susugu" means.

I've had it about a week. It does come under warranty (it says 5 years on the box, but it says 1 year in the instructions, seems like a finicky replacement program, and you have to send the thermos away for a new one, and only at their option), though I don't expect to need it. If something went wrong after a few years, I'd happily buy a new one. I suppose the warranty is to catch defective units, like one described in another review which did not hold temperatures.

There was also a complaint by someone that theirs smelled like coffee. I really don't think Amazon is selling used units. They just kind of smell like that (the materials and processing do smell vaguely like coffee, I'll admit, but it is not coffee).

Thank you to all the reviewers who made this excellent purchase a no-brainer for me. I hope my review will be equally helpful in assisting other potential buyers.

"Spending $1.65 + gas less each day!!!", I am extremely impressed with this Thermos bottle! Even though I miss the smiling faces each morning at the Tim Horton's drive-thru, I get to slow down a little and not be so manic trying to get out of the house, I control the strength of my brew exactly like I like it, I save $1.65 each morning, I don't waste gas while waiting in line to get to the drive-thru window, and I have two cups of coffee in the morning instead of one. And both are as hot as when they were freshly made! Oh, and Tim Horton's ground coffee is available at Tim Horton's and the grocery so I don't miss out on that wonderful flavor of theirs.

I don't understand the comments about the stopper not sealing or leaking, though. I've had no problems at all and just unscrewing the stopper a little bit lets me pour my coffee without getting over-excited and drenching my desktop. Yes, I've done that. And it's easy to carry! There's plenty of room in my computer bag if I don't want to carry it by hand.

All in all, one heck of a buy; useful, durable, and looks good. What more could you want?

"Hot water keeps hot!", It is excellent! I wanted a Thermos for my baby. Something I can carry in my diarper bag and be sure to have hot water when needed. The size and weight are just perfect. It keeps the water really hot.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Great Thermos", I read everyone else's reviews and decided to choose this one. Let me tell you all the good reviews are true. I love this product. Keeps my tea or coffee hot all day long (it is often still steaming 8 hours later!) and doesn't leak a drop. I plan on using this baby for years and years.

"Excellent hot/cool beverage holder", I purchased this bottle for tennis and am quite happy with it. The mouth is easily wide enough to fit ice cubes. You can drink from it with the cup removed but the stopper in place and only slightly unscrewed- prevents spills.

The interior does not appear to be lined so there shouldn't be problems with it leaching toxins, which is the main reason I bought it.

"Poorly designed lid leaks", I purchased one of these new in 12/2007 and the cap leaks no matter how tightly it is screwed on. This cap is designed to allow liquid to be poured when it is partly unscrewed so that one does not have to entirely remove it. However, if one tries to pour this way it just makes a mess and dribbles down the side. More importantly it never forms a proper seal when completely screwed. This unit is a complete waste of money and I suggest buying a different brand/model.

"Keeps the coffee hot/warm all day", after reading all the reviews here and on coffee geek (great review there by the way), i decided to get one. it keeps my coffee warm the whole day. this one is closest to the amount i drink per day.

"Absolutely Recommended", It insulates so well that I can easily use water for tea that was put into the bottle the night before. Also, the bottle is always cool to the touch.
