Great price! Nice size board to create the pizza on and the pizza did not stick to the peel.

"Pizza Peel"
It works OK, just a few flaws. The shape, being longer then wide causes an oblong pizza (unless you settle for a medium size pizza). The other problem is if you wash it or get it wet, the whole board curls up into a boat shape. After it drys out it returns to form though. As far as functionality, it is OK as it will allow me to shake the pizza onto my square pizza stone, it also will easily slide under the cooked pizza for oven removal. The handle, although shorter then I hoped, seems to be of sufficient length.

"very good but one was warped"
The pizza peel is very large and useful to take things out of the hot oven.
I ordered 2 of these. One was flat (perfect) and one was warped on the edge. I am surprised that a good company like this would send warped products to its customers. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the defective edge.

"Piece of Junk!"
The very first time I used this item, it separated at one of the two glued areas. It is not one piece of wood but 3. The middle piece with the handle is one and 2 pieces are glued on either side. Do not be fooled by the low price. You do get what you pay for. Spring with a few more dollars for a one piece item.

"Peel me!"
This is a very nice peel. I've had mine for over two years now, and no cracks, splits, or warping.

When I first got it, I bought a bottle of mineral oil from the drugstore for a couple of bucks. If you have trouble finding it, look by the laxatives, as it is used by some for that purpose. Before I used the peel, I put it on a box in my basement and oiled it front and back. I went down and did this again a couple of times a day, until the oil would no longer soak in, probably around four or five days total.

I use it all the time, and have not oiled it since. My feeling is that if you take the time to do the initial prep, this will be around a long time. The oil makes it smoother, too, so it is easier to push the pizza off.

The downside of this peel, and it is a pretty big downside, is that you cannot put this in the dishwasher. There are some more expensive peels that use an engineered material (basically layers of paper and plastic laminated together) that will go in the dishwasher. If you decide not to get this peel, you should take a close look at those. Here's one:

"Mineral Oil", An excellent and inexpensive source of mineral oil is from a large animal veterinarian. Mineral oil is often used to treat a cow that has bloated. The mineral oil carried by a veterinarian will come in a gallon jug and is food grade. I use it to soak many of my kitchen utensils, especilly wooden knife handles.

"Good pizza do-hickey", For anyone that lives off of frozen-pizza's, this is a must! Just makes inserting and taking out of the pizza easy and burn-scar free. I will be purchasing another one for my son. The reason for the 4-star was that the wood wasn't treated at all and felt "rough".

"The only peel you will ever need", This product works well. Light weight, just the right size for my oven. I seasoned it with mineral oil. And remember be gentle when cutting your pizza on it.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Pizza Peel", I was able to pick up a pizza, put it in the oven, and then take it out when done. A technological marvel.

"Junk", We read the reviews about the wood splitting, but when one person openly admitted not following the care directions we thought "we take really good care of our things so it won't happen to us." Wrong. Followed the use and care directions to the letter and the peel warped and cracked down the wood grain with a few weeks. Bought a quality wood peel from the local Sur La Table store and there have been no problems with it in months.

"Nice but sticky!", I like this peel because of its size. I agree with other reviews who say it is a little thick at the edges but is wood so I guess it has to be. I have had problems with my pizza dough sticking to the wood even after I oiled it and flowered it and put corn meal. So I would say its a nice piece if you can get it to work for you.

"Great pizza peel", I was hesitant ordering this peel because it looked a little too thick in the pictures. It's actually thinner than it appears and I've had no trouble sliding it under a finished pizza. Just be sure to sprinkle it well with corn meal before assembling your pizza on it. Only problem: it will stain when you inevitably get melted cheese on it.
Overall, it works perfectly but an aluminum peel might be easier to clean.

"Love it!", Great for making pizza, from start to finish. (I even slice the pizza on mine.) The only drawback I can think of is that you need to be careful when you wash it not to let it soak up water. Mine warps when I wash it but goes back into shape when it dries. Eventually, this will probably cause it to split. I may try a metal one next time.
