"great product"
This ravioli maker is the best! Easy to use! Wish I had purchased it years ago.

"Some helpful suggestions"
I made a few batches with one of these over the last few weeks, and learned some valuable lessons:

1. Use corn starch, not flour, to keep the pasta dough from clinging to the mold. I put corn starch in a powdered-sugar-type shaker/dredger, and I give the first sheet of dough a good sifting on one side. Then I flip that over so the cornstarched side is facing down, against the ravoli form. After I put the second sheet over the filling, I dust the top with more cornstarch before rolling -- that way it wont stick to the rolling pin either, and when I invert the mold over a parchment-lined cookie sheet, the raviloi won't stick to the parchement paper. Note that you want to avoid getting cornstarch BETWEEN the two layers of pasta, as it will inhibit their sealing together.

2. Get a small (#40 or a higher number) disher (a thumb- or squeeze-lever ice cream scoop) for putting filling on the pasta. It will save you tons of time and all your ravioli will come out the same fatness. An added bonus is that you can calculate in advance how many ravioli you will get out of a given amount of filling: a #40 disher gives you 40 scoops per quart.

3. You can lessen the amount of air that gets trapped inside the ravioli if you lay the second sheet of pasta down over the filling and gently push down from the middle outward as you seal.

4. Egg wash didn't seem to be necessary to make a good seal; I keep a spray bottle of water in the kitchen and gave the bottom sheet a light spritzing before putting the top sheet down over the filling.

"Works great but DON'T forget to spray it with cooking spray"
I used this for the first time the other night, and neglected to spray cooking oil on it before using it, than I spent a good half hour getting the first batch of ravioli off it. When I sprayed it however, it worked perfectly.

"I would NOT recommend this product"
I had a hard time with this product. The item does not cut the dough well and the ravioli kept opening as a result of this. In my opinion, I like the size of a 12 count ravioli maker better. This 10 count makes ravioli thats too large.

"A couple tips..."
I have used this a few times, and found I needed to lightly brush the metal mold with oil before laying down the first sheet of pasta, or else the dough stuck and was difficult to remove. Also, I think brushing the edges around the filling with egg or water will help give a better seal. I make 40 raviolis at a time and they have all kept their contents from spilling out into the boiling water. It takes me about 2 hours to get the job done from making the pasta to cooking the raviolis (I use the KA pasta attachment which is wonderful). It's actually a bit of work, but the taste is otherworldly and definately worth it when you can spare the time.

What our customer's say!

"Pretty Easy", Really like the way it makes the ravioli. It was at first hard to use because the dough was sticking to it and the raviolis would fall apart, but after a few times its easy to get the hang of and figure out.

HELPFUL TIP** flour the mold well. makes the ravioli wayyyy easier to get out. also, flouring the dough well so it is pliable and not sticky is key too.

Would def reccommend buying. its actually really easy and fun making your own ravioli. it is time consuming, but worth it.

"useful thing", Pros: Everybody can make ravioli with this thing. And it looks durable.
Cons: Ravioli are really big. Unless you like them that way I would recommend similar product but for 2 inch pieces.

"Easy to Roll Your Own", VillaWare V5500 10-Square Ravioli Maker

This turned out to be extremely easy to use. From Start to Finish it took about an Hour and a half to make a batch of 50 Ravioli's. That includes Grinding the Pork, Making the Filling and Making the Dough. I used the Kitchenaid Dough Roller to Roll out my Dough.

I was surprised at how easy and great tasting everything turned out the first time using it. I saw someone mentioned buying a cheap rolling pin to use with this, That's a good idea as your rolling pin is what actually cuts the individual raviolis, So it's gonna take a beating.

All in All this was a great purchase rather than spending $50 to $200 on a Ravioli maker machine, This works just as good and easy as long as you aren't in the catering business where you need to make a thousand raviolis.

"sturdy, easy and works well", This is a great value for the home cook. I think it should last for years. I don't recall that the instructions said so, but I recommend you lightly oil the metal part so that the pasta will not stick when you press your roller (not included) over it.

"excellent ravioli maker", excellent, easy, inexpensive. The width of the ravioli maker is the width of the pasta sheets that come out of my Kitchen Aid pasta dough roller.
I spray the ravioli maker with non-stick cooking spray, and then I lightly flour the bottom of base piece of dough. Then fill the depressions- dont be afraid to heap it up.
I lightly water the bottom side of the top piece of pasta, then roll well with my marble rolling pin.
The raviolis fall out- no tearing or sticking. And they do not come apart in the boiling water- no leakage.
I highly recommend.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"VillaWare Ravioli Maker", I bought this to use with the KA pasta roller attachment. My ravioli have been perfect. My only complaint is that it doesn't seem sharp enough to easily cut the ravioli. I go over and over with my rolling pin and still have to do final cutting with my pizza wheel. If not for this, it would be 5 stars plus.

"Great time saver", This little gadget, in combination with the KitchenAid pasta roller accessory, allows you to turn out enough ravioli for a party at a lightning-fast pace. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because you need quite a bit of elbow grease to cut the edges with a rolling pin. It is worth the effort though because each individual ravioli comes out perfect.

"Can't live without it", I don't know when or where or how I got this but I discovered it in my cupboard one day and easily figured out what it was for. I made some homemade ravioli with it and it was out of this world! I'd never buy store bought ravioli again. With the pasta machine and a food processor, it goes quite quickly. The only complaint I have is that it slides on my counter which can be fixed by placing it on a clean rubber mat like is used on shelves.

"Nice kitchen gadget", This ravioli maker is simple and easy to use. Some of the reviews on here make it sound more complicated than it actually is. The only advice I would give is to brush some beaten egg around the edges to help "glue" them in place. Honestly, I don't even know if that's necessary, since I haven't made raviolis without doing it. I suspsect that dough made with eggs would be sticky enough on its own. The cutters are sharp enough to cut the raviolis while not being so sharp that the edges don't crimp. The rest is just common sense. If you're like me and only wish to make two or three dozen at a time, this item is an excellent choice. It has no moving parts and is very easy to clean.

"Really Like It!", I really liked using the Villaware 10-square Ravioli maker. The first time my husband and I used it we had pefect ravioli. The cutting edges could be sharper but besides that it works great!
