Others say...
"Burns coffee grounds." A burr coffee grinder protects the grinds from becoming burnt... I guess it's an ok little machine. Once I got to my house, though, I was wondering if our magic bullet would have done the same job. I used it for a couple days and may use it again (or for grinding other things, who knows) but I bought a capresso burr grinder and that one works MAGICALLY. this one is hard to clean. I'll hang onto it if I need it, though, as it was a wedding gift and it DOES work. It will give you a nice grind if you let it. "Works great, could have a bigger capacity" I wish it held a little more, and the diagonal sloping top makes a little of the grounds spill out if you fill it all the way up. But it does a very good job, does it very quickly, and the price is right. "Good grinder" Nice grinder. As good as ones that I've used before. It grinds coffee beans by pushing a knob on the lid. It grinds. I don't know what else Ihave to expect for a coffee grinder. Just good. "Very good" Grinder does a great job. Difficult to clean. Would give it 5 stars if blade assembly could be removed for cleaning. "Decent, long lasting grinder" I have had this same Krups blade grinder for 12 years now; it always works and has never had a problem. Probably the best grinder for the money if you can get around the "dust and boulders" that these grinders put out. The dust gets overbrewed and boulders get underbrewed with these machines. Sure, you can make some good drip or french press coffee with some fresh beans and this machine. It will probably be better than the vast majority of coffee you get at shops. If you want to really control what's going on though, a good burr grinder (at 4x the cost and up) will help you achieve consistently superior coffee. For what it is, this grinder is excellent.

What our customer's say! "So far so good", I have been using this product for two weeks. So far, I haven't had any problems, but I have experienced that if I use it for grinding 5 oz. of coffee at once, in small batches, it starts to smell like something burning. "performance", Just as good as I expected. Grinds thoroughly and evenly. About 3 oz. at a time. As fine as you like. We've only ground about 2 lbs. so far but it's Cuisinart predecessor quit on it's first 3 oz.'s. Uses very little shelf space. "Top Rated Inexpensive Spice Mill", I've been using this model for years, and just bought a new one. My prior one lasted roughly 7 years (guess) of fairly regular use. In my case, I mostly used it for grinding my own spices, rather than for coffee. COFFEE (4 stars): As indicated in magazines like Cooks Illustrated, this unit does a very adequate job of ginding coffee beans - provided you master the skill of replicating the optimal degree of grind for different uses (i.e., automatic drip, espresso, percolator, stove-brewed turkish style, etc.). However, any serious coffee aficianado will quickly agree that a proper "burr" will almost always yeild better more evenly ground results than a buzz grinder like this one. Still, for what it is, and for its price, it's still one of the best 'buzz' grinders available. SPICES (5 stars): After blending and toasting my own whole spices (for things like fresh homemade garam masala, sambar masala, etc.), I let them cool and then grind them with my trusty krups, which, in 2 passes, can grind enough to fill a standard spice bottle. The only spice the krups (and all comparable models) has trouble with are whole cloves, which tend to be very resiny, and clog the machine. OTHER (5 stars): Although not really designed for it, the krups can do an adequate job of: grinding dried rice and/or dried lentils into a very fine grit (but not quite a true flour). It can also grind small quantities of granulated sugar into confectioner's 10x sugar. Bottom line: It's strong, compact, powerful, durable, simple to use, fairly easy to clean, and inexpensive ... what more could you ask for ? "Great product", I brought this coffee grinder to serve my purpose as a SPICE GRINDER. I bought this one as it had more power than the other spice grinder advertised by krups. It serves my purpose well. My roasted spices grind to fine powder (which is how i want it) in very less time. I am really happy with this product. I am sure it would serve well as a coffee grinder too. "Perfect for Grinding Seeds, Grains & Nuts into Flour", I know that this is a coffee grinder and I bet it's great for that too. It's solid, small, nice-looking, and operates quietly. It's got a stainless steel interior and stainless blade as well. It seems to be built to last. If fingerprints on appliances bother you, consider getting the white one since the high gloss black plastic casing was filled with fingerprints after a use or two. It cleaned up nicely, though. In spite of its name, I bought it specifically to grind tiny chia and other seeds, nuts, and mung beans to create flours. It does that amazingly well. I am delighted with this little machine and highly recommend it and as usual, the Amazon price is great ! ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Money Well Spent", This little thing is cost efficient and works great. I was leary about buying a blade grinder vs the ring type that crushes the beans. This little grinder works really well. I can even keep it going to get espresso type grounds if I want. It takes literally only seconds to grind a full pot worth of coffee. I'm really happy with this purchase. "Some problems but great grinding action", Great grinding action, quiet, and fast. Downfalls are hard to clean, and we have had a problem with the switch. We had trouble with the switch not turning machine on when pressed. We tried un-plugging the unit and then plugging it in again and the switch works. Nothing in the literature says to do this, but it is the only way ours will work. Would not buy another. "Poor assembly", I purchased this product as an early birthday present for my husband. Imagine both of our disapointments when we found the grinding assembly was not assembled properly. The grinder would not turn because a part was missing and the grinder rubbed against the side of bean holder freezing it in place. The bummer is that I tossed the return slip before I checked it for flaws and now have waited too long to return it - so I have to eat the cost. I'm surprised that a usually quality manufacturer such as Krups would have such poor quality control. It was made in Mexico. "wish it had a spout", The grinder grinds well. However, I like the type of kitchen grinder which can hold beans, grind beans, and has a spout for the ground beans to come out of-so one dosen't have to add beans every time. This grinder has to have beans put into it each time one grinds, then the ground coffee has to be emptied each time-a big hassle in my opinion. But it will be useful, due to the small size, for travel grinding, for fresh coffee on the road, one cup at a time. "Good Little LOUD Coffee Grinder", Edit: 7/5/08: So I was just grinding some coffee, and a blade broke clean off. It actually left a gash in the interior metal pan, too. I guess this grinder sucks after all. -- I ended up purchasing the Krups Fast Touch Coffee Grinder because I was tired of waiting for all the little old ladies to finish grinding their 15 bags of coffee at the grinding station at Costco. I have a Krups espresso maker, so I figured this would be a good match. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase. The grinder takes only 3 ounces at a time, but there really isn't a need to grind more unless you have 25 people in your household drinking coffee at any given time. It doesn't grind it as fine as I'd like (the big fancy industrial grinders at Costco grind it turkish, which is what I prefer), but it does the job. My only complaint is that this thing is LOUD. Like, chainsaw loud. Who knew this little machine could make so much noise. My girlfriend says it shouldn't be this loud, and I haven't read the manual to see what the trick is to get it grind more fine grounds (who reads the manual anyway?), but overall, worth the $20. ![]() |
