"Sturdy, Dependable and GREAT GRINDING"
I have owned my Krups 203 grinder since they came in brown (that's a long, long time ago). It still works just as well as when I first bought it. Though it has no bells and whistles or the 2 bazillion grind grades of more expensive models, a little judicious judgment gets me the grind I want for whatever bean I am using including a fine powder. Not overfilling the grinder helps as does putting the beans in the cap then turning the grinder upside down to connect them to avoid spilling the beans. Cleans easily, too, though I heartily recommend UNPLUGGING the grinder before wiping it out with a paper towel. Also, wash the cap with water only just like a coffee pot to avoid adding unwanted soap flavor. The handful of negative reviews that complain of breakage puzzles me as simple as this machine is. (One negative reviewer even claimed it "the coffee it made was very, very hot and weak." which obviously the grinder has nothing to do with the actual brewing.)

"Solid buy"
+ Small, cheap and efficient. I get a nice grind with no whole beans left in approx. 6-7 seconds. More than sufficient for once-a-day use.

- It can get messy. The coffee grinds accumulate on the cover and along the edge, so when you remove the cover, grinds come out, too. I've taken to opening the grinder over a sink or garbage can.

- It doesn't have great capacity. This isn't a big deal if you're making one travel mug a day, but I suppose it would be a bit tedious to make several cups of coffee.

Overall: The 3-star review means that the product is adequate. Provided that it holds up, I'll be happy with this purchase.

"Excellent for coffee beans and spices"
This is the second Krups I have purchased and am happy with both. One I use for coffee beans and the other for spices.

It's loud but fast and does the trick!

"Great grinder"
Grinds quickly and very fine. As I like my coffee ground almost to dust for maximum strength. This does a great job. A bit louder than my old Hamilton -Beach. Can do up to a 6-8 cup grind at 1.25 tablespoons to a cup. My TraderJoes coffee is a bit oilier than others, so it does stick some on the bottom as it is ground. Great grinder.

"Great Little Grinder for not so much money"
Need a quick fix. this little grinder has lasted quite a long time. used every day. highly recommend it

What our customer's say!

"Poor assembly", I purchased this product as an early birthday present for my husband. Imagine both of our disapointments when we found the grinding assembly was not assembled properly. The grinder would not turn because a part was missing and the grinder rubbed against the side of bean holder freezing it in place. The bummer is that I tossed the return slip before I checked it for flaws and now have waited too long to return it - so I have to eat the cost. I'm surprised that a usually quality manufacturer such as Krups would have such poor quality control. It was made in Mexico.

"wish it had a spout", The grinder grinds well. However, I like the type of kitchen grinder which can hold beans, grind beans, and has a spout for the ground beans to come out of-so one dosen't have to add beans every time. This grinder has to have beans put into it each time one grinds, then the ground coffee has to be emptied each time-a big hassle in my opinion. But it will be useful, due to the small size, for travel grinding, for fresh coffee on the road, one cup at a time.

"Good Little LOUD Coffee Grinder", Edit: 7/5/08: So I was just grinding some coffee, and a blade broke clean off. It actually left a gash in the interior metal pan, too. I guess this grinder sucks after all.

I ended up purchasing the Krups Fast Touch Coffee Grinder because I was tired of waiting for all the little old ladies to finish grinding their 15 bags of coffee at the grinding station at Costco. I have a Krups espresso maker, so I figured this would be a good match.

Overall, I am pleased with my purchase. The grinder takes only 3 ounces at a time, but there really isn't a need to grind more unless you have 25 people in your household drinking coffee at any given time. It doesn't grind it as fine as I'd like (the big fancy industrial grinders at Costco grind it turkish, which is what I prefer), but it does the job.

My only complaint is that this thing is LOUD. Like, chainsaw loud. Who knew this little machine could make so much noise. My girlfriend says it shouldn't be this loud, and I haven't read the manual to see what the trick is to get it grind more fine grounds (who reads the manual anyway?), but overall, worth the $20.

"Repeat buy", I bought this grinder in 1992. I can attest to quality and longevity of use. I am thrilled to be buying an exact replacement. It does a really good job of grinding beans (also walnuts) to perfection, very quickly. I also found turning the grinder upside down so that ground material dispenses from the cap is the least messy.

"Krups Coffeee Grinder", I have been using my Krups grinder for 30 years! It' great! I am purchasing a second one to keep on our boat.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Great product", This is an excellent coffee grinder. Small, sleek, and very functional. Added bonus is that it can also be used to grind nuts and spices.

Comes with easy directions and tips for grinding and storing coffee.

"Fresher coffee than a burr grinder", Many times, I have read the snooty hype about why burr grinders are better because they grind coffee with more even particle sizes. So I invested $70 in one, and now it sits unused in my garage. The problem with burr grinders is that they fill up with old, stale coffee that was ground yesterday or the day before. When you use one of these little blade grinders, you save $50 or more, and you always get freshly ground coffee. Who cares about particle sizes? The coffee from one of these blade grinders simply tastes fresher and better.

The only knock against my Krups Fast Touch Coffee Grinder is that it is made cheaply and probably won't last all that long. That doesn't bother me. I can buy three or four of these as they wear out and still save money over the burr grinders.

"Great pick for grinding ingredients in small quantities", I cook Indian dishes and often times I come across the need to grind pulses, grains, etc. in very small quantities. My standard size blender used to do a very poor job at this. The ingredients used to settle down at the bottom of the blender jar, in the groove beneath the blades, simply making it impossible for the blades to operate on the ingredients. This appliance is a great fit for such requirements.

Both dry and wet grinding works great with this appliance. I find 200W power to be ample enough to crush pulses anywhere between coarse-grained and fine-grained.

If someone is looking for an appliance to help them with grinding ingredients in small quantities, this appliance is certainly a great candidate to consider.

"does the job", Easy to use and clean. Of course, not for grinding a lot of coffee at one time. Great if you want to grind fresh everyday.

"Grinds the beans, quickly", This replaced a broken Black & Decker grinder that was not yet 2 years old. This one is much faster, with much sharper blades. However, it's also quite noisy and more difficult to clean (thus the missing star). It's very fast, though, and certainly does the job it's meant to do. Can't comment on longevity, since it's only a month old. This is a good value and I recommend it.
