"Great price and works well"
For $25 Amazon has a great price for this Brita pitcher. The prep for these pitchers is more than I thought but easy. You can't just pour water in and start drinking. You have to soak the filter for 15 minutes, wash the pitcher in and out, then run two full pitchers before drinking your first cup.

The water does taste different than my tap. This pitcher requires two full reservoirs to fill the pitcher. The reservoir filters water in about 3-4 minutes.

A filter is supposed to last 2 months (at two full pitchers a day). Amazon sells a 3 pack for about $17, so about $5.50 for a month's worth of purified water.

"The best thing that could happen to water."
This product is an excellent value. I purchased one because I was tired of buying jug after jug of spring water, and I didn't care for the taste of my city water. This pitcher makes it delicious, and pays for itself quickly.

"Brita"
Excellent item. Purchased via Amazon.com because the item is no longer in production and not available through local merchants. This pitcher is of a capacity we desired and fits easily in our refridgerator.

"Everything I had Hoped For"
For years I've been buying bottled water for drinking purposes. The water in our area has a lot of clorine in it and it's OK for cooking but just not for drinking, at least to me! When I heard how those plastic bottles stay in landfills forever I realized I wasn't doing anything good for future generations. I was also tired of lugging home cases of bottled water, that really gets old! I'd heard of Brita Water Pitchers before and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad that I did! There is absolutely no chemical taste to the water and it is crystal clear. I highly recommend that you buy one. It works better than the filter on my fridge ever did. I can't tell the difference between Brita filtered water and the bottled waters I used to buy(Aquafina &Disani). And the price? Very reasonable compared to buying bottled water. It will pay for itself in no time with what you save.

"the taste is worth the trouble"
Having owned multiple pitchers from Brita, I would say the biggest problem with them is that they are made of slick, unevenly-weighted plastic parts. This makes them hard to use and easy to accidently drop, especially when they're filled with water. The plastic in the lid and reservoir is especially weak and these parts can easily snap in half (becoming unusable) if dropped, even on a carpeted surface.

Other common, but lesser criticisms:
- Pitchers may not fit well in your refrigerator
- Pitchers need to be cleaned periodically to fight mold, but are NOT dishwasher safe
- Pitchers unsuitable for families that go through a lot of water quickly (opt for faucet mount)

All that said, the pitchers do actually work. Many people successfully use these pitchers to make their terrible tap water taste better (myself included). If you can train yourself to handle them extra carefully, and remember to clean them and refill them you should be fine. And yes, you have to change the filter about every two months, but you only need six to last a year (one comes with the pitcher and you can get a 5-pack for about $30). If it still sounds like too much trouble though, pitcher filters probably aren't for you; from what I've heard, pitcher filters from other brands suffer the same drawbacks.

What our customer's say!

"Win Win Pitcher", Buying this pitcher was a "Win Win", No Brainer! We used to buy bottled water in plastic bottles and generated a whole lot of landfill material... not to mention the fuel used by trucks to get those bottles of water to the store... No more! The pitcher actually paid for itself in less then a month!
We liked the pitcher soo much that this one is a gift for our Son who also purchased water in the bottles... he now is enjoying the same savings!

"Great!!", This Brita filter is better than I thought it would be. The water tastes PHENOMENAL! I didn't know water could taste sooo good. Recently, my town has decided to add Chlorine to the water, terrible idea. So, I got this Brita filter so I could continue to drink my 8 glasses a day without feeling sick to my stomach because of the Chlorine addition. The only downside to owning a Brita filter is that you must change the filter every 2 months, and that it does get very heavy after you fill up the pitcher. Otherwise, this is perfect, and a great addition to any kitchen.

"Excellent value, well worth it.", I live in Philadelphia where the water here is, well, not so great. It has a distinct 'taste' to it. I bought this pitcher after dealing with it for a year and me and my 3 roommates agree that this was one of the best investments we made for the apartment. We drink like fish and this pitcher eliminates the 'taste' from the tap water. What's nice about it is that since it is always in the fridge, we always have cold filtered water. Another benefit is how quickly it filters the water. After maybe 5 minutes after refilling the top with tap water, the pitcher is full again. A downside however is that when the water is being filtered and you try to use the pitcher, the top can come off because of the weight. This has only happened once though. All in all, a nice investment if you want clean tasting drinking water.

"Great! ", First I'd like to say... if you can't lift a few quarts of water then do not buy a water pitcher.

This pitcher/filter works great! It does exactly as it claims... it filters the water.

Pro's to having a Brita filtering water pitcher:
Clean, drinkable water.
No more lugging cases of bottled water up to my apartment.
No more being responsible for filling the landfills with plastic bottles.
Saves money!
Water pitcher + aluminum sports bottle = convience
Less likely to get cancer.
Cons:
Have to turn on tap and fill pitcher.

"Water tastes great! Pitcher needs some work.", I've had my Brita Deluxe pitcher for about a yea and I would not be without one again. It saves me from the time, expense, hassle and waste of buying bottled water (the water that comes out of my tap is almost undrinkable due to it's taste). However, I have had some problems with this model:

* Low capacity
Even for a single guy I find that I am constantly refilling it

* Filter falls out
When I tip it over all of the way the filter comes out and forces the lid off

* Carbon specks
Not a big deal but the filters "leak" little black flecks of carbon into the water reserve and that bothers me for some reason

* Not dishwasher safe

* Filters are not cheap

I just ordered the larger "Ultramax" size and I think that I will like it better. I'm not worried about mold since I will go through a gallon or more in a day and I will wipe it after prior to refilling it.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Brita", We were spending a lot of money on bottled water. Amazon reviews showed this was a great alternative.

"Great item!", This is a great item and I could not find it anywhere in stores. It does NOT have that battery operated thing on the top that tells you when to change the filter, which is what I was looking for. It comes with 1 filter. It is a large enough size that I don't have to refill it in the middle of a meal, but also not too heavy. My water tastes great and is lead free!

"Excellent Brita product!", This pitcher improves the water taste SO MUCH!!! It was a really good purchase and it greatly reduces the taste due to the hardness of our tap water. Excellent product!

"Great gift idea!", I purchased this pitcher as a Christmas gift for my daughter who lives in the country and doesn't like her well water. She loves this pitcher! Says it makes her water taste like bottled water. :)

"Good Tasting Water", I love this pitcher! I don't have to worry about carrying bottled water in the elevator to the 17th floor or the expense. The filtered water tastes just as good as bottled water, to me. These pitchers last forever, too.
