Others say...
"Coffee not hot" I've had this for a little over a year and now the lid just won't snap closed (a must in order for brew to start). Which is fine. I have been waiting for it to go kaput so I can buy a new one. This one is a gift and I would have never bought this for myself had I the choice. I didn't like it when i looked at it. It seems cheaply made of black plastic. The big gripe i have is that I am constantly reheating my coffee and prior to pouring a cup, I heat up my milk. This has been my OVER year long ritual. But not anymore...i've researched and I'm off to cuisinart.. "grind and brew coffee maker" Makes good coffee but has several parts to wash and you cannot use a paper filter. The biggest complaint I have is with customer service, I dropped the removable part of the coffee maker and broke one of the locks, I e-mailed their customer service dept. and asked for instructions on how to order replacement parts, that was a month ago, I'm still waiting for a reply. My next Grind & Brew will be a cousinart, they have excellent customer service. By the way, the coffee maker still works fine with the broken lock. "Melitta Memb1B Mill and Brew 10 Cup Coffeemaker, black" Makes great coffee. Easy to assemble. Like it fine even though the clock stopped working. "Great Coffeemaker" We enjoy this coffee maker very much. We owned the previous version of this for over a year and the only reason we had to buy a new one was that the lid to the other one broke and then the cover for the grinder also snapped and wouldn't close. If it wasn't closed, it wouldn't grind, so we had to hold it closed in the grind stage. It was getting to be a hassle, and this maker makes everything so hassle-free we were spoiled. Hoping we don't end up with broken parts again... that is our only worry. Otherwise love it. And so far love this version. "Melita Grind and Brew - Great Coffee!" We bought this based on others recommendations. We found the coffee some of the best we have made at home. The unit cleans up quickly. Our favorite ration if 7 cups water with 5 scoops beans on the 4th grind setting. We love it!

Melitta MEMB1 Mill & Brew Coffeemaker
Why I buy this one ? - Electronic programmable LED clock/timer - Programmable grinder with 7 coarseness settings - Large viewing window - Detachable staineless steel blade - Hinged, integrated basket What our customer's say! "Love it!", I liked my first one so much I bought another one. It makes the best coffee because it is freshly ground....doesn't get any better than that! "An excellent coffee maker!", I love my Melitta MEMB1B Mill & Brew coffee grinder/maker! After a few seconds of grinding the beans, it makes coffee at a perfect temperature and the hot-plate maintains that temperature without scalding, then switches itself off after an hour. I have returned more than one coffee maker due to too-low brewing temperature - but not this one. The mesh filter is messier to clean than it would be with filter papers, but I'm saving money and trees this way. The grinding is not as noisy as some reviews had led me to expect - but it sends my cats hurtling out of the kitchen. If you are considering a mill-and-brew machine, you won't find a better (or better-priced) one than this Melitta. "Very quite", Nice and quite. Easy to use. The only drawback is the coffee doesn't stay as warm as we'd like. We end up putting it into a pre-warmed thermos. "This is the one.", The Cuisine Art that we replaced was no match. The Melitta is 100% a better product and much easier to clean. The grinder is stelth compared to the Cuisine Art. My only complaint is the warmer shuts off after an hour. No paper filters makes this coffee maker the best I have ever had. Thanks Amazon, Im hooked. "Awesome coffee and here's why", So many things to like! First, the coffee is excellent without any bitterness. Our Cuisinart Grind and Brew quit on us and we went with this replacement. The coffee is definitely better. 2) The grinder is brilliant. I didn't realize when I bought it that the grinder and the filter basket are the same. The hot water filters straight into the grinder section which has mesh sides. The grinder is also not as noisy because the basket/holder has the mesh, filter sides rather than hard plastic. And there is no messy clean up of the grinder container and a filter basket. You just rinse the one piece and put it back in wet. With the Cuisinart, you had to clean both (which was 4 pieces total) and then could only use the grinder again when it was dry. Not the best way to start the day! I didn't know there was a better way!! 3) It has a very small footprint for a coffee maker. 4) Most of the stand-alone grinders that are not incorporated into the coffee maker have static problems that make a mess. No static problems here since the sides of the vessel are not plastic and there's no transfer to the coffee maker. 5) The Cuisinart's removable pieces were funky in how they came out and fit back in. The Melitta only has a basket with a lid that are removable, and they fit back in with ease. Time for my coffee, but hope this helps! ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Lives up to the good reviews!", After much research for a good mill & brew coffee maker - I made the decision to purchase the Melitta and I must say it has not disappointed at all. My main concerns before purchasing were: Does the built-in bean grinder work efficiently enough? Is the brewing temperature sufficient? Is clean-up simple? The answer to all three of these questions is a resounding yes! This unit makes a great cup of coffee and is a tremendous value for the price you pay. The only draw back is I wish it made the coffee into a carafe instead of a glass pot on a warmer plate - but since we typically drink the coffee the instant its made - that's not too big of a deal, and if necessary we pour the excess coffee into a thermos. "Melitta Mill & Brew", We really liked this product even though we had to replace the grinder and then the plastic clips on the outside of the grinder holder broke off. After my husband broke the carafe I decided to try another coffee maker and was not as happy (the new KRUPS coffe maker has a burr grinder)as with the Melitta. When my KRUPS breaks, I will replace with the Melitta and hopefully their white model will be cheaper. "It's not bad for the money", We are about to replace this for the second time but we'll go with another brand this time. While the machine makes a good cup of coffee, is fairly quiet, and easy to clean, it's not a study machine. The machine is all plastic. On our first one, the plastic catch for the coffee basket broke in 6 months. The lid couldn't be snapped closed so the machine wouldn't grind. We limped along by taping it down but after 2 years, the plastic grinder fitting that fits into the coffee basket shattered. We replaced that one with another of the same, thinking we just had a defective machine. After about 18 months, the plastic grinder fitting into the coffee basket is breaking. The plastic part has wedges and after time, the wedges round off. We make perhaps 2 pots a day, on average and so don't think we are heavy users of the machine. This time, we're going with another brand. "not stylish, but it's good at making coffee", This is the second Melitta coffeemaker we've bought. More expensive coffeemakers seem to have unnecessary features or more style than functionality. The Melitta is a good value, and makes very good coffee. No complaints. "5 years and counting", Just wanted to give some feedback on this product. I bought in September of 2002, and have been using it steadily since. I use dark French roast beans on the highest (level 7) grind, and make two days worth of excellent coffee. I store the beans in the refrigerator and put them in at brewing time along with filtered water (Brita). I heard a lot of folks say to let the beans air for a day, but I tried both ways and this works best for me. It does use a lot of beans. I tried several variations, but if you want a good cup, be prepared. I am also very very careful about the latch and the covers. I have read where they are a problem, but I have had none. Parts go into the dishwasher regularly with no issues. It is a bit noisy on level 7, but that is it. Outside of the minor nits, I am extremely happy with the product. ![]() |
