"Buy American" We do not have this pan but have quite a few Calphalon pans. The Chinese ones are thinner and the anodize tends to scratch off. The American made ones, however, hold up like iron. I always check the nation of origin with these and avoid those made in China. "The Ugliest Calphalon Money Can Buy" This pot is like the ugly step child in my kitchen. It's hideous when compared to the other beautiful pots and pans Calphalon makes. While the pot functions beautifully and holds true to the quality of Calphalon, it's just plain ugly. Although the description says "Shallow" Saucepan, I guess I don't really know what that means because this pan is not shallow at all! It is very deep, and is a very big saucepan. Nothing sticks to it, and it is very heavy and sturdy. Even the lid feels unbreakable. But it's ugly. Note this pot is made in China. Most of Calphalon's stuff is made in Ohio, but their "cheaper" line, Simply Calphalon, is manufactured overseas by communists. If you look around Amazon, you'll find for ten more bucks you can get a beautiful piece of Toledo-made Calphalon that hasn't been beaten with an ugly stick. To me looks are everything, so I wouldn't recommend this one. Some cons - I was expecting, with a lifetime warranty, that I would be able to throw this thing around and just send it back if it ever broke, right? Well, Calphalon gives you a long list of things you can't do to this - using non-stick cooking spray, metal utensils, put it in a dishwasher, stack them on top of eachother (what - stacking two pots on top of each other will void the warranty? Come on!), etc. After I bought my cookware set if feels like I have a newborn in the house. But this is great quality Calphalon cookware at unbeatable prices at Amazon.com! "Love It!" I love it....I had not used Calphalon until my daughter gave me some for Christmas and I loved it....When I saw a great Fri. deal on Amazon I started to add to what I have...I have not been disappointed yet...Very good quality and a reasonable price...Thanks, Amazon "Price was low, but very cheaply constructed" Got this as part of their 4 for 3 promotion, so the price was right, but even for $15, they made a healthy profit. Handle looks like silver paint, not stainless steel as advertised. Pan is heavy weight anodized aluminum, but watch the heat, sticking is definitely a problem as many other reviews have told. "Commercial" line seems to come in two different quality levels. The good stuff is good, the cheap "China" stuff is really poor quality. Amazon sells both versions and it isn't easy to tell which one you're buying based on the listing. The Calphalon crepe and short-and-saucy pans I bought are really nice. This one and the everyday pan are awful. You definitely get what you pay for -- they aren't in business to lose money. "Get two!!!" I wasn't sure I would like such a shallow saucepan...it's only about 2" deep, but after using it a few times, I found myself reaching for it more and more often....I use it for everything from sauteing green beans with garlic, to browning ground beef for tacos and making puddings. Hands down, this is one of the most versatile sizes of pans out there. It is so handy, that I added a second one to my 9 pc set, as well as to each of my daughters' sets. Watch for the prices to drop as they do tend to fluctuate quite a bit, and then grab yourself an extra one or two...you'll be glad you did.

What our customer's say! "Made for Less Quality and More Profit", I purchased the Simply Calphalon Nonstick Hard-Anodized Aluminum 2-Quart Saucepan with Cover a couple of months ago. That one was made in Toledo, Ohio. I paid two whole dollars more for that one, here at Amazon. I can't really say if it is the fact that that one is of the Simply Calphalon series that made it better or that it wasn't made in China. I will tell you that this one just doesn't compare. Go with Simply Calphalon and try to stay away from the Chinese produced Calphalon products. I'd been sooo happy with my other Calphalon purchases here at Amazon. I was severely dissapointed with this one. Made In China is really turning into Made for Less Quality and More Profit. "Great Deal!", I have purchased two of these on sale and Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized is my favorite type to use. Get 'em while you can and as many as you can. "Excellent use", I've been using the Hard-Anodized 2.5 Qt shallow pan now for about a month. It's really great. I'm getting a couple more, one for a gift. It's a good size for all but the biggest meals/ingredients, and it cooks quickly at medium temps. I've cooked rice in a 3-4 times and it does wonders for 2 cups of rice. I've also made my own barbecue sauce in it. Easy to control cooking, easy to clean. On sale, it's hard to beat. "Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized 2-1/2-Quart Shallow Saucepan with Lid", I first purchased the 12 quart Commercial Anodized and was very happy with it. This 2 1/2 quart size has worked wonderfully. I made rice in this pan at least 5 times and it turned out perfect. (Not Minute rice Either)... Mac & Cheese from scratch did NOT stick also made a small batch of fudge in this pan..... Cleanup is a breeze and is oven safe. There is a slight color variation from the ones made in the USA. "Excellent addition to my Calphalon family", Heats evenly, a perfect addition to my Calphalon family. Great for cooking, I use mostly for making large quantities of rice and it works beautifully. Perfect for soups, rice, stews, and large quantity meals. Cleans very easy, fits in a dishwasher. Strong Durable. Affordable. It's used very often. Recommend this product. Average shipping. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "2nd Caphalon pot joining my slowly growing collection", I've heard good things about Calphalon but have been skeptical of its quality, thinking it was just a high-priced fad that people bought into. So I originally bought the "everyday pan", which is part pan, part wok, and I LOVE it... I use it for everything. So this is the 2nd pot I bought. I was surprised at how shallow the pot was. My other saucepans had the typical built up sides, but this one is definitely shallow like the description states. I guess I just wasn't expecting that! I actually like it, because it gives more bottom surface for the burner to heat up, and everything cooks MUCH quicker. The bottom is very heavy and durable... an average petite woman will have trouble lifting this with one hand, especially when full. I like how the lid stacks on to the pan, and has a low profile, it makes storage less cumbersome. The handle stays cool while on the stove, and has a nice contoured edge that makes it easy to hold with your thumb on the groove. I especially like the brushed anodized aluminum look. Great pan and another great product from Calphalon. If you read any reviews about the anodized aluminum wearing away, I would suggest disregarding it... anodization is a chemical process that bonds through the metal, not just a surface, so if someone is actually having a problem using a Scotchpad on this product, it must be defective. "Heavy Duty Pot", First off, this saucepan is perfect for my wife and me. We use the stove a lot and we like buying cookware that lasts. It's a nice size that fits almost all of our cooking, as it's not too big and not too small. We bought two about three years ago, and they still look brand new. We like them so much that I just ordered another one, and now we'll have three. The best things about this saucepan: * Very sturdy. Once you get used to it, you'll think every other pot is cutely shaped aluminum foil. It could almost be used effectively for self defense. * Heats up very quickly. I had never used cookware like this before and always expected a pot to take a while to heat up. Not this one! As soon as your stove is hot, this saucepan is hot. It really caught me by surprise the first time. * Will probably last forever. Like I said, they've been used heavily for three years now, and they are as good as new. * Cheap! The price seems to fluctuate on Amazon a lot, but I bought all of mine for $20. That's incredibly cheap for what they are. But, they're not perfect, and you might not like them for these reasons: * Heavy. They're really heavy. If you have weak wrists or don't like lifting heavy stuff, you won't like them. However, my wife is petite and she handles them just fine. * Not non-stick. If you cook stuff that can stick, then you won't be happy, because it will stick to this pot, and you'll have a lot of scrubing to do. * Not dishwasher-safe. I can't remember the specifics of the warranty. I don't think it voids the warranty, but they don't recommend using the dishwasher. Either way, we chose to wash them by hand because we want to take care of them. We live in Arizona, the water is hard, and things rust very easily in the dishwasher. If you hate washing things by hand, this might not be the pot for you. But even though we use these a lot and wash them 3-4 times a day, it's really not that bad. Most things wash out really quickly. So, if you want a sturdy, heavy, last-forever and heat-up-fast saucepan for a great price, this is it. If you want something light, dishwasher-safe, and non-stick, look elsewhere. "sam-o same-o", This is a typical Calphalon hard anodized product - but the bargain price from Amazon makes it all the better. It is sturdy, well-made, and fills a niche between larger saucepans and a butter melter.I wish it had a glass lid, but most of these models don't . "Excellent Calphalon Pan", I love Calphalon products and ordered this saucepan as an addition to my everyday cookware. It is a great saucepan/saute pan and has a fairly large cooking surface. With a little oil, sauces do not stick plus it heats and cools quickly. Calphalon has made another great product! "Heavy duty, a true commercial pan", On first receipt, I was impressed with the heft of this pan. It is solidly constructed and the handle feels comfortable. It heats evenly and quickly and the anodized surface makes it easy to work with and to clean. One note, it is recommended that these pans be hand-washed. |
