I was extremely happy with the results. I have white carpet and this Hoover did a great job getting it white again. Had no leaks, and it was a great improvement when they added the rotary brushes and the side brushes. The base boards were the hardest to get clean in the past. I had there best when it came out 13 years ago by Hoover. Great improvement. The only negative thing a can say is, it's heavy to push and pull. Worth the money.

"Cool SteamVac!!"
Just bought it. My carpet had not been cleaned for 5 years! Very easy to use. I almost did not have to read the manual. I was able to clean my 3-story townhouse with just one 16-oz bottle. My carpet looks clean now. BTW, this item is also very hot on Ebay.

"Great product!!"
Just to echo the warning of another reviewer, this vaccuum does not make steam. It only takes the hot/soap water you put in and sprays it on the carpet.

However, this is an awesome vaccuum. It really does pick up almost all the water it puts down. Your carpet may still be a little wet when you are done, but you can definitely walk on it (although I tend to just wait until it fully dries...which is like in about 1-2 hours). The key is this...after you have finish vacuuming, pour out all the water in both the clean solution and the dirty solution tenks. Then, just go over the carpets again. This will make sure you have picked up as much water as possible and help speed up the drying time. Another key point is that moving the vacuum slowly over the carpet actually decrease the amount of water you pickup. Just vacuum at the speed you would normally if you were using a dry vac. Having said that, my carpet is incredible right now. When I moved into my apt, the carpet has already been there for 8-10 years! The previous owner were slobs and probably never vacuumed the place. After I used the Hoover, I could swear the carpet was new!! Of course, year-old stains will probably not come out completely, but at least it will not be as obvious.

"Misleading Reviews or Just a Lemon???"
Having read the raving reviews here, I bought the Hoover Steamvac Widepath, and was very sadly disappointed. There was very little suction, the cleaning solution just dribbled out of the hand tool (no spray) and it was room temp. while the cleaning solution in the tank was over 150F. The machine put a lot of solution in the carpet and removed very little dirt or cleaning solution, carpets were wet for over a day. I promptly took this machine back for a refund.

"Not for Me!"
I did not purchase this item for myself but for my daughter. I have a 5-brush model and when storm water came into her lower level recreation room, I lent it to her. She was so impressed with it that she asked me see if I could find a similar unit for her. In my search I came upon your website and found the F6024-900 SteamVac Widepath LS. You had it for less than I paid for my unit. My daughter is absolutely thrilled with it. Your service was excellent.

What our customer's say!

"This cleaner sucks - in a good AND a bad way", The good suction:
I have used this cleaner on my entire house. I must say that both the clean and the dirty tanks are easy to clean and fill. The extraction is so good that the carpets usually are dry in about 1/2 hour. I have successfully removed dried cat vomit, gooey unknown substances left by a 4 year old, as well as standard filth with this cleaner.

The bad suction:
I have had problems getting the dirty tank to remain snapped into place to get a proper vacuum for removal of the solution. The cleaner does NOT like going from carpet to linoleum - I have multiple areas where my carpet is set next to the linoleum with no running strip near it. The solution usually gets sprayed unusually heavy in patches on smooth surfaces, and the machine has a hard time switching from carpet to smooth surface for extraction (i.e. it leaves a puddle on the linoleum). The rotating brush attachment for stairs is a total disappointment. No matter how many times I try to use that thing (at least 10) - it will not pull an adequate vacuum for extraction. The manual says to "purge the air from the system" by holding your hand over the inlet - still doesn't work. I end up using the upholstery tool on the carpets with adequate results - it usually takes a couple of days for them to dry due to excess solution being left behind though. Also, it is VERY hard to clean the extraction part of the cleaner, especially if you have short haired cats. I cannot for the life of me remove all the hair, even with the little flexible tool that is intended for this purpose.

For those with homes that do not have carpeted stairs - I think this cleaner would be fine, especially if you do not have unusual levels of filth from pets and kids. If you have stairs, keep looking.

"Great cleaner that has paid for itself many times over!", We have saved a lot of money and people can't believe how great our carpet looks. We used to rent the steam cleaners from the grocery store, but now we can clean it well any timw we want and not have to worry about bringing it back to the store. Just watch out because all your relatives and friends will want to borrow it!

"Not a happy customer", I had this product for a year (the warranty JUST expired) and after a year of light use, it is now fit for the trash. It leaks cleaning fluid either from the top by the resevoir or the bottom by the floor. When I say "leaks" what I mean is ALL the fluid spills out uncontrollably. I had heard a lot of good things about this unit but my experience with its reliability has been the worst.

"Great carpet extracter", I purchased this extracter for my home. With two dogs, my carpet becomes dirty very quickly. The first day I received it, I cleaned my entire living room in one hour. The machine was easy to use and very effective at removing dirt from a carpet.

I'm a housekeeping manager and I tried this machine at work. I was even more impressed than I was at home. The dirt this machine extracts is amazing. The carpets have never looked better. I ended up purchasing the commercial grade version of the carpet cleaner for my work site.

I have used a lot of carpet cleaning methods and equipment. For home use or small areas (offices) this machine works great. I strongly recommend this product.

"SteamVac on hardfloors", My house primarily contains wood and tile floors. I have only two small rooms with carpet. I found the SteamVac out of the box came with two bottles of carpet cleaner and NO hardfloor cleaner. This annoyed me as I primarily wanted to use the SteamVac on my kitchen floor which is terrocota tile and the carpet cleaner states not to use on hard floors. I used the Steamvac first on my kitchen tiles. The brushes worked OK however my machine left pools of water on my floor. I had to let my floor dry overnight since there was so much water the machine was unable to suck up. My floor then had dirty water marks since the machine could not suck up most of the water. I was very disappointed with this result and will be going back to my mop and bucket to clean my kitchen floor. I then used the SteamVac on my carpeted rooms and the results were fine. It got rid of most stains. However I purchased this product to replace my mop and bucket. All in all not worth the $299 price tag!!!

"Hoover Widepath SteamVac", I am very happy with both the product and Amazon's service.

"A great product!", This is a well designed and engineered product! It cleans carpet as good as a professional system and better than store rental equipment. I also used it on some older vinyl flooring and it did wonders for that as well. So, this hot water cleaner works great for me as an all around floor cleaning system. I previously owned a Bissel Big Clean Machine and this works so much better and is better built. No regrets about buying!

"Does the job nicely!", This machine really does the job. My family room hadn't been done in 5 years it really looks great now. I like the idea of the removable solution canisters....very easy to use. Everything worked like it was supposed to and the machine is not flimsy like some of the others I've seen. Has a long hose and power scrubber for doing stairs which worked great, and leaves the rugs pretty dry. The only negative for me is its weight...it's heavy. As a matter of fact, I developed a blister on my hand from cleaning the family room. But since I don't use it like I would a vacuum cleaner, I can tolerate the weight since it does such a good job. I had no problem cleaning the machine after using it....you just vacuum up fresh water through the hose and brush area, empty the canisters and that's it!

"Pleasantly Surprised... and a tip for pet lovers!", Works GREAT, and doesn't leave the carpet too wet. My tip for pet lovers (I have 3 of the worlds greatest dogs, you know)... For odor treatment: 1. Get a commercial grade deodorizer, probably from a janitorial supply... (I use "Liquid Alive", one measuring cap to the gallon solution dispensing tank) 2. Run you HOOVER with the take-up tank out of the machine. That way, the liquid won't be picked up right away. 3. Let the carpet stay wet for a few hours, then run again with the take-up tank in to extract moisture. (Better yet, if you can just let the carpet air-dry. The longer the carpet stays wet, the better the enzymes in the deodorizer work.) Try it. Your house will smell freshly sanitized! Now, if Hoover can just come up with a cleaner for the back yard... know what I mean?

"Surprisingly good !", In helping my son clean his new office, I used a 5-brush Hoover machine for the first time. It did such a great job, I just had to have one for my home. I have a Bissell and thought it did a good job until it tried this. I saw Amazon had a good price and I ordered this, the deluxe 6-brush model. It took 7 days to deliver and indeed, the box showed it had been on the road that long. When I opened it, fearing the worst, I was surprised that the machine was in undamaged condition. I immediately tried it on my ceramic tile kitchen floor, shower tile, and of course, the carpet. I WAS AMAZED ! The powered scrub pad and brushes on the hand tool were the nicest things imaginable for a person like me,with a bit of arthritis in the hands. I had cleaned my carpet last month with the Bissell and this Hoover removed dirt my other machine missed. I am very happy with this machine, and I'm like a kid in the candy shop with the neat accessory hand tools !
