"They leak "
I got these bottles as a gift and since bottles are expensive, I used them. I had no problems in general, my baby used them fine from the time she was 5 weeks old. I'm just weaning her now at 13 mos. The major complaint I have about these is that they leak around the rim like crazy. Sometimes you have to unsrew it and put it back on two or three times before you can keep them from running all over. And, no, it's not just one. All of them did it.

"not sure why anyone would buy these"
Is there a rating below one star?

First of all, we bought these before we learned about BPA. Our pediatrician told us about the fact that BPA is a neurotoxin that stunts brain development, among other nasty side effects.

So first of all, they aren't safe. So why buy them?

But if you don't buy the BPA stuff, there are a ton of other reasons not to buy them. Number one, they are extremely expensive for what you get. You can get twice as many Evenflo glass bottles for the same price as this three pack. So they are unsafe AND twice as expensive.

Then just to add insult to injury, the nipple is designed very poorly and makes it incredibly difficult for an infant to latch on. They cannot create the vacuum they need to get the milk out. Once there is only about an ounce of milk left in the bottle, my son could suck for an hour and not get the last ounce out. It was very frustrating for him and for me. I got to the point where I would express that last ounce of milk out for him to get it, basically spraying it in his mouth, which he didn't really like either.

So in summary, this bottle could not be any worse. And sorry, but there are better, cheaper, and safer alternatives that work better. Yet these keep selling. Makes you wonder whether Avent employees have written up these positive reviews.

"Contains BPA"
I had started with these bottles. Then I called AVENT, and they told me these bottles contain BPA. I switched to the Tempo Liner bottles and they work just as well.

"My favorite bottles, but..."
These are actually my favorite bottles from all the different ones we ended up with. My reasons:
They don't come in a million pieces like ventAires, but they're still round, unlike the gerber one we have. These things put them at the top of my list for easy cleaning. The nipple flow is alright, too. It's not the slowest to start out with, but it's slower than some other nipples that automatically come with some bottles.
So, why did I only give it three stars? I haven't found anything that says these are BP-A free, which, for me, knocks them down two stars. Too bad.

"Avent bottles contain BPA"
Avent bottles have more BPA than any other leading brand. BPA free brands include Born Free, Nurture Pure, MAM, Green to Grow, Baby Life and Adrini.

(For those that missed the news reports - BPA is a chemical found in some plastics that a recent National Institutes of Health report indicated may be harmful, especially to infants.)

What our customer's say!

"Better BPA free alternatives available", From a functional standpoint, I have no complaints. The bottles never leaked on us and they're easy to clean because the openings are wide. However, I changed all our Avent bottles to non-BPA alternatives about a month ago. (BPA is a chemical that is used to make some clear plastic bottles that could be potentially harmful to your child. Although the FDA is still conducting research on this issue, my opinion is why take a chance on something that can be easily corrected. As parents, we have so many other things to worry about.) I blame myself for not doing more research prior to purchasing these. I was at Target the other day and saw a few AVENT sippy cups that were specifically advertised as BPA free. This annoyed me greatly. Does this indirectly imply that AVENT knows that BPA could be harmful, but continues to sell BPA products? AVENT has definitely violated my trust. I will not be spending any more money on AVENT products.

"They are okay. ", My daughter liked bottles. We liked them, too, but they did leak sometimes, and they also have BPA in them. If I'm going to pay this much for any bottles, I want them to be BPA-free, or at least not leak. We just got Sassy Mam bottles which are almost the same price and BPA free, plus good for colicky symptoms as well. I also love the Playtex ventaire advanced bottles which are really good quality bottles and are also for less fussing, spitting up, gas, etc. and my daughter enjoys them too, but they are not BPA free either. We keep these only for back up bottles now. The avent bottles- we wound up tossing all of them completely. not really worth the price.

"Contains BPA -- TOXIC Substance!!!", BPA, a synthetic sex hormone that mimics estrogen, is used to make hard polycarbonate plastic. Ninety-five percent of all baby bottles on the market are made with bisphenol A. The results of the U.S. study show that, when new bottles are heated, those manufactured by Avent, Evenflo, Dr. Brown's and Disney/First Years leached between 4.7 - 8.3 parts per billion of bisphenol A.

Do your research, moms! There are lots of bottles out there that don't contain BPA. Trusted brands like Green to grow, Born Free, Adiri, and Thinkbaby.

"Leaky Bottles", I first used these bottles when my son was born two years ago. Like some of the other reviewers, I found that these bottles leaked. I had to tighten/untighten them all the time and although not all the seals leaked, many of them did. Now, with the BPA issue, I'm not using them at all with my new baby. I've purchased a different brand that doesn't leak, doesn't have BPA, and is also less expensive.

"stay away", Stay as far away from Avent feeding bottles as you can. This product is total junk, the bottles leak all the time. We have tried many, different sizes, different nipples, purchased at different stores and different times. They are all the same, they leak from under the lid no matter how tight you screw it on. Complete garbage.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"WARNING! Avent Bottles Are Made Using BPA Bisphenol-A.", I liked Avent Bottles, my daughter Liked them too! Then I found out about Bisphenol -A being used to make the Bottles. After re-searching Bisphenol -A, I discovered that exposing my baby to harmful chemicals with the potential for long term affects later in life, was definitely not for me!! There are other options out there, all glass bottles are safe, as well as Born Free, Mam by Sassy, Green to Grow and Adrini. Do your own research. I'm really surprised the non Bisphenol -A Free bottles haven't been recalled yet! I'm sure it's just a matter of time, before enough people are educated.

"Excelent philips Avent", The quality of the products Avent are indisputable, I echo this tree packs has been very helpful, I recommend it to all expectant mothers, and those who already have babies, who do not use this product because it tested ...

"Never leaked for me...", I was reading through these reviews and noticed that a lot of people are having problems due to the bottles leaking. I have been using these bottles for three months and have not had a single leak. What I do is pull out the nipple and clean it and then I put the nipple through the screw casing and pull it tightly through to make sure it's tight...then i rinse the whole assembled nipple part again and I'm good to go. Maybe the problem is due to those parents not ensuring that the nipple is firm against the screw cap.

FYI.... Also if you are a new mom, ensure that these bottles fit into your diaper bag. I had to do a ton of research to find a diaper bag (bumble bag!!! excellent product) that would fit the extra wide bottles, however, I have a friend who just bought any bag and cannot use these bottles as they do not fit in the pockets.

"Best Hungry Baby Bottle Available.", These are the widest bottles that I have seen available. They are well made and easy to assemble. I sterilise mine every day and there has been no fading of level markers (a problem with another make I tried.) or discolouration of bottles. They come with a whole range of accessories like handles and sippy cup teats for older babies and so will go from Day 1 right through to when you no longer need sippy cups. The best thing for me is the fact that you can get specially designed teats that allow for thicker liquids (my son had rice in his milk at 8 weeks (with Doctors approval) because he is so big (90th Percentile) and was so very hungry. The Adjustable Flow teat has a slot cut instead of a hole and so the flow depends on the way the teat is lined up with the babies nose. What a fantastic idea and such a godsend for us. They also hook up directly to an avent breast pump either the manual or electric.
