"Good while it worked"
I had high hopes for this machine because I love frothed milk, but it died on me after a few months. At first it worked well, then it started sputtering, and then one day it completely refused to start. I even meticulously followed cleaning/maintenance instructions (easy to do).

Instead I now use a milk frother wand which costs only a fraction of the Capresso's price even when deeply discounted. (While researching Amazon, reviewers alerted me to Ikea's which I have been very happy with even if it does not steam the milk. I preheat the milk in the microwave and the wand produces great froth. The wand has been reliable with constant use and a friend remarked that it also produces better froth than the nozzle from her espresso machine.)

"It kinda sucks"
I was so excited to give this to my husband to use for his coffee and for cocoa. There is a finesse in using this machine that we still haven't developed. It's a great idea...but after many tries, the desire to keep trying is gone. I don't even feel good trying to give this away. The phrase "easy to use" should never be associated with this machine.... I wish I could take away the stars I gave it when we first got it. NO Stars for this...NO STARS!!!

"Dissapointing"
I had high hopes for this one. At first it produced one good cup of frothy milk. Next time just hot milk and a mess. no matter what type of milk we tried or how we adjusted the nozzle, we just got hot watery milk.

I was just outside the amazon return period so contacted Capresso. Excellent support, so this review is not based on that, simply the product itself. They sent me a new base unit. same result so they sent me a new nozzle, same result. The thing just doesnt work. Poor design, time to go back to the drawing board!!!

Capresso won't refund me because I purchased it form Amazon. Amazon however after hearing the whole story refunded me despite the 2 moth time gsp...Amazon you ROCK!!

"Works wonderfully!! ... When it works ...."
I like thick, foamy milk for my drink. This machine works wonderfully .... I get much better foam than what the baristas typically would give me at Starbucks. However, you have to jimmy and jiggle the FrothXpress in order to get it to work.

We put an extra gasket (plastic washer) in the spout ourselves, and now the machine works every time. The foam quality has deteriorated slightly, though I'm still happy with it.

I put in a call to Capresso Support yesterday to ask if we're missing a part, and to get a replacement. No one has called me back yet, and it's been 24 hours. That's kind of annoying.

So, I give 3 *'s. Even though the foam/froth quality is excellent, the intermittent functioning of the machine and slow response time from Support to deal with issues knocks off a couple of stars for me.

"Fantastic Milk Frother"
For those of you who are really looking for an authentic coffeehouse experience in your home, this is the best milk frother for your coffee, tea, or hot cocoa. It is extremely easy to use with a detailed manual explaning any questions you might have and includes proportions for lattes, cappuccinos, etc. It is also very easy to clean and only takes two minutes to make steamed milk, 30 seconds to clean the frothing nozzle. Forget spending $3.00 on a latte at the coffee shop. Coffee addicts- buy this machine and you won't be disappointed.

What our customer's say!

"Works great, as long as it lasts", After maybe 18 months of everyday use the seal in the water reservoir failed. Water leaked onto the parts below and they corroded. I took the unit apart, cleaned the contacts and used it another year. Now it's having trouble again and I'm tired of messing with it, but I'm buying a replacement because it's still the best product I can find. It would be even better without the planned obsolescence -- improve the seal, and, as back up, make those internal parts out of something that water can't damage.

"4+ years was a good run", Well, we used ours for over 4 years, and it finally died. The unit came on, but the button didn't work any more. I like to see what makes things tick, so I took the machine apart which was no easy task. I don't recommend doing that unless it completely stops working. A couple of the plastic clips had cracked, but the real problem was corrosion on the metal contact parts. For a few cents more, Capresso could have used stainless steel and made this thing really last.
We did get good use from it though, using it almost every day and usually a few times per day for 4 years. It can be difficult at times to make work right, but once you learn its quirks it'll work okay for you. We missed not having it immediately, and the coffee doesn't taste as good without it. We will probably buy a replacement since I don't see anything else close for the price.

"Great product", When I first got this steamer, I had some problems with it. It would make steam, but the liquid coming out of it was cold. I contacted Capresso and they were fabulous about replacing the machine at no expense to me-they even sent a return UPS label so I would not have to pay return shipping for the defective one. I just used the new one for the first time and it worked rather well. I do have to say that it does take a few tries before one can get the milk/steam/froth ratio (how 'bout that for a professional sounding review?) down, but now it is great. I would highly recommend this product and Capresso as a company. For us non-coffee drinkers, it is nice to be able to steam milk without having to buy an entire coffee maker with steamer.

"After a year & a half I still depend on my easy latte maker", I bought my Frother 1 & 1/2 years ago & learned to use it. It isn't the easiest thing to figure out, but with a little thought it has worked like the book says it should. I am happy with it. I just called Capresso customer service as mine just stopped working this morning (After 1 & 1/2 years of daily use!) For $35 (including shipping!) they are replacing my unit with a brand new one (they'll fix the old one for $30, so it''s an easy choice.)

The learning process was as follows:
(1) You must learn to push the button long enough to get the desired amount of milk, by stopping the button push early. This is because you're letting water into the steam unit while you hold down the button, and of course it will continue to steam AFTER you let the button up. It took a few tries but was then never a problem.

(2) The froth nozzle must be pushed snuggly up against the spring mounted circle safety switch that surrounds the nozzle projection (the black cylinder with the red o ring.) If this is ignored, it won't do anything. I went to the hardware store and found a nylon washer that is 1/8 in. thick, 1 & 3/16 in. outside diameter, & about 1/2 in. inside diameter. I put this over the projection, then put the nozzle on next; this way I can push the washer up against the spring mounted circle with one hand and snug the nozzle up against it with the other. It sounds strange, I suppose, but it works well.

(3) When I put the nozzle on I slide the chrome cover up about 1/4 in. on the rubber nozzle; this in effect lengthens (the rubber part extends down that much) the nozzle as the nozzle needs to be submerged in the milk in your coffee cup for it to froth. I use the shallowest cup I have.

The result is that I have had excellent lattes every morning for 18 months, and for a mere $35 every year or two I will continue. Don't let the folks who spent a couple of hours and gave up throw you off.

"It didn't work", We were stupid enough to buy one of these. The first one was DOA. The second one worked 3, count 'em, 3 times. This is a bad deal. Now the company says they will not replace. This is a warning. Don't buy this product.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"YUMMMMM", I love, love, love this product. Very well designed - easy to clean - and makes lovely, steamy, frothy milk in just minutes. Perfect for my chai lattes - saves me big $$$$ too! Kids love it for steamers and hot chocolate. The temperature adjustment is awesome (I don't like to burn my tongue!). I was somewhat leary after reading other reviews but am glad I made the purchase - perfect for the cold weather ahead!

"It works!", When I ordered this item I was skeptical on how well it would perform. I must say I'm quite satisfied with the product. It's so simple, even my children are now using it to make hot chocolate. I was worried about the temperature I would achieve based on an earlier review I read. After having the product I now comprehend that the reviewer probably hadn't used the adjuster that controls temp and froth. I must say, the milk gets so hot that I've actually burnt the roof of my mouth. So be careful when getting your adjustments set.

Overall, it's a product that is very easy to use with quick clean up. I've actually replaced my previous milk steamer with this product.

"Unreliable Product", This milk frother sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. It heats up the water perfectly, but doesn't always expel the frothed milk out from the nozzle. The orange indicator light turns on, but when the Safety Steam Button is pressed, the milk doesn't come out of the nozzle.

"Product is so-so.", It heats milk to about 120 degrees at the high end. That's OK for my wife, but I like my milk at around 160. It does save time as I can get it to 120 pretty fast, then heat the rest with my steamer wand. I just wish it made it a little hotter and less frothy.

"Steamer", The steamer is fast, effective and easy to use, but the steam button frequently catches and won't push down easily.
