"This Fan Will Fail - It's Just a Matter of Time" This fan lasted for about a year of continuous use. The WindChaser company replaced it under warranty for a $15 shipping charge. I thought they might have solved the problem by this time, but the second fan also failed after about a year of continuous use. When I tried to contact WindChaser customer support again, I found it no longer existed. Neither the phone number or web site listed in the user manual respond. Why have some users given this product a high rating? My guess is that they haven't used the fan for very long (I live in a hot desert climate) and that they too will eventually experience similar failures. In other words failure is guaranteed: it's not a matter of IF, but of WHEN. This is astonishing considering that even inexpensive table fans last for 10 to 20 years. This is a shame. The concept of a remote controlled wall fan is a good one. But in this case one that is poorly executed. "Don't Waste Your Money" I would have given this fan 0 stars, but didn't have that option. A wall fan is a great concept, but this fan misses the mark. I bought two of these fans for my boy's rooms because they each sleep on a top bunk with a desk and drawer system down below, so they can't have a ceiling fan. The fan oscillates in a big circle blowing plenty of air, but unless you're directly in the oscillating path, there is no way to blow air directly at you. You can't adjust it manually. A good example would be if you mounted it on the ceiling directly on top of where you're standing, the air would never hit you directly, it would blow in a big circle all around you. The remote is another huge issue. When the two fans arrived, one remote did not work, without the remote, you can't even turn the fan on. I thought, no problem, I call WindChaser and I'm sure they'll send me a new remote. I called, wrote, left messages, pleaded, threatened - all to no avail, I finally gave up. So I have one remote to operate two fans that are on different sides of the house. Save your money! "best fan in the world NO STROBE EFFECT" I have 5 of these fans and I love them. they work very well and are very guiet. I do not like the strobe effect of normal celling fans (which can cause seasures,) These fans do not produce the strob effect. a friend of mine who does have epelipsy can sit under these without having a seasure triggered!!!!!! "good fan" I like the remote control but it isn't as quiet as I hoped it would be. Still a very good fan. I thought the price was a bit steep. "Does the job" The fan came as ordered. I have only had the fan for about two weeks but it works great. I really love the timer feature to shut it off if I forget to. Only one thing about this fan that you need to know and that is that it does not go back and forth. It goes back and forth and up and down, which is great but you need to keep that in mind when you are hanging it.

What our customer's say! "Repeat buyer", This is the second Windchaser fan that I have purchased. The first one lasted about 6 years. My kids use them in their bedrooms for circulation and cooling every night. The timer is nice if they don't want them to run all night long. "Just OK", The features of the fan are nice on paper and it was easy to setup. I don't find it very powerful and the area it covers seems smaller than other fans I've owned. I would try a different product next time. "Its Great.", Thank you for the product. It was fast and on time. The fan works great. I use it every night. Thank You Again...Bruce. "Don't waste your money!", I bought a Windchaser Wall/Ceiling fan in February of 2006, and installed it in June of that year. It ran OK (if somewhat underpowered) until about October of 2007, then quit. The manufacturer won't do anything about it - I believe that a ninety-nine dollar fan should last longer than this one did, or have a robust enough warranty to cover it when it doesn't. Don't waste your money - it's a piece of junk. "Remotes Stop Working and Fan Becomes Useless", We bought 3 of these fans, and 2 of them are completely useless now because the remotes stopped working. There is no way to operate the fan without the remote, which I find ridiculous. We even tried a universal remote, but even that didn't work. Even more frustrating...the fan WILL turn on (when I don't want it to) while I'm using my TELEVISION remote. Nice. Look for a fan that works with OR WITHOUT a remote. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "need help ~ can't actually get it to mount, but seems nice", no one else commented on this, but i've had an incredibly difficult time actually getting my fan up! hopefully it's just me, i called the manufacturer to ask them if they had any suggestions, tricks, etc. & although they did call back fairly quickly (i left a message with four different departments *grin*) they weren't able to offer much guidance. all of the set up was pretty simple, the screws were clearly marked which ones went where, & i personally love that it has a remote & don't really care that it's necessary to control it. however, the mounting plate is fairly flush against the wall & then you have to hold the fan (at least 10ft above the floor) & line up the "hooks" & twist it onto the mounting bracket ~ i've found it impossible, especially as the "hooks" (for lack of a better term) are set inside the fan (don't protrude) & have a tall plastic lip surrounding them (this is difficult to describe, but even more difficult to deal with) also, one last thing, the power cord is incredibly short (esp since it's supposed to be 10ft above the floor) & has a three prong plug, so you need to make sure you have an extension cord that will work right away. any & all help is greatly appreciated, i'd hate to have to return it :( gave it three stars because i love the concept, it seemed somewhat simple to set up (except the critical mounting) it came quickly & customer service did return my call promptly ~ i will adjust the rating if i can actually get it up & see how it works "A safe fan for around children", It is always worrisome to have a fan going around children and pets but with the Windchaser you mount it on the wall and operate it with a remote control making it perfectly safe! Thank you for this fantastic product. "Good, Strong Fan", Mounts relatively easily. Good, strong breeze on high speed, even from 10 feet away. Others complained that the fan could only be operated by the remote control.I find this a plus. I mounted the fan on the wall next to the bed. I use the remote to turn the fan on/off from the comfort of my bed. No need to turn it on/off at the fan. I also like the "White Noise" made by the fan, helps drown out snoring bed-mate. The simulated wind functions are probably more of an advertising gimmick than an actual beneficial feature. I want a constant breeze from a fan. If I want wind, I can go outside. Overall, I would buy this again. "great fan with fatal flaws", I bought this fan for one of my greenhouses. The variable speed settings and circular motion were great for simulating natural, gentle breeze patterns. But like others here, the fan has become a $70 piece of junk WAY TOO SOON (4 months!). Whenever the power goes out (in my old house, weekly), the fan must be reset manually. It doesn't just turn back on and remember what it was doing. The power went out this week, and now the fan no longer communicates with the remote which is the ONLY WAY TO MAKE IT TURN ON. I bought new batteries, cleaned the sending and receiving parts of the remote and fan, and nothing. It's a shame the features are so nice, and the controls are so poorly conceived. "Motor goes !", I purchased this fan for my office at work it's a nice novelty that draws lots of attention. It has a contemporary look and gives you the convienence of placing it up on the wall and out of the way. It also has several settings allowing you to cool a small room (not a larege one) in a manner which is most comfortable for you. One of the drawbacks is it's dependence upon the remote. Without the remote, you cannot operate this fan manually. So if your a person who is always losing the remote control, this is not the fan for you. The other drawback is that the motor burns out and once it goes its gone! I sent this fan which stopped oscillating after about a year to the electrical department where I work. The head electrican politely told me to take it out back and bury it. Finally, it's over priced, for the money that your spending it should come with a lifetime guarantee it could definitely be constructed better. I still intend to purchase another one simply because the company pays for it and I like way it looks. ![]() |
