"Not For Pet Owners"
I received this as a free gift so I'm not crying over anything, but if you have pets this may not be for you. The design and comfort is great as is the suction power. I honestly couldn't believe how much more this lighweight vacumn picked up over my regular vac. But very soon I discovered that the collection cup is very small and even just "touching up" around a few places filled the cup up. If you keep vacuming pretty soon - like in a minute, the excess pet hair has itself wrapped all over the paper filter which it very difficult to remove. I would have to take the paper filter assembly outside and and shoot it with a can of compressed air to dislodge it. But if you have no pets and your house barely gets dusty, I would say that this is a good vacumn for the price.

"Ignore the critics, this little baby is great!"
We just got a beautiful large rug for our apartment, which is mostly hard wood floors. I had a hard time trying to find a vacuum cleaner that was smallish, yet worked well on carpet AND hard floors. None of the lightweights, handhelds or stick vacuums seemed to have the crucial double motor (one for the vacuum, one for the brush). When I came across this model, I thought it was probably too good to be true, but in desperation, I bought it anyway. I got it home, and it picked up (IN ONE PASS)all of the dog hair that had been piling up on the rug for almost 2 weeks. I brought it over to the hardwood and it worked equally as well. My roommate and I were AMAZED. I'm not sure what the other reviews are talking about, but we both agreed it was one of the quietest vacuums we'd ever heard. My dog didn't bark at it once! The attachments worked equally well... finally got the dust off the curtains, corners, lamps, window sills and every other dusty place we didn't realize we had. It was almost fun to see how great it worked! People have complained about how if the filter gets dirty, it loses suction, but that is true with any vacuum, unless you have $400 to shell out on a Dyson. The only reason I gave it 5 stars instead of 4 is because the vacuum tends to topple over when using the hand tools, which is really no biggie at all.

"Eureka 410"
I liked this vacuum at first until the front blew out and I had to replace it under warrenty which was fine. The first one came with a foam filter and it was easy to clean, but the replacement came with a hepa filter which I found totally annoying. It was pleated and a terrible thing to try to clean. I also found that the replacement filter was twice as expensive as the foam and seems to only be available by mail. The company should have left well enough alone. I also have a problem with the handle being loose. I loved the light weight easy push, but I just can't stand that crazy filter......

"Poor"
1. Lightweight
2. Good for small apartments only.
3. Very medicore suction.
4. Attached hose is short..cannot really get at corners and baseboards easily.
5. The machine filter/cup clogs and fills quickly. If you pick up fine dust, from say carpet freshner, this will lead to a lot of the dust being blown all over your furniture.

My unit arrived with a greasy cup that took me a long time to clean out.

"Good news & Bad news: THIS VACUUM SUCKS!"
I've owned this vacuum for a little more than 1 year and I've just broken it into two pieces thanks to one of its many design flaws. While I was impressed initially with its suction power and apparent ease of use, I became increasingly disappointed with its design over time. Here's why: (1) the washable filter mounted in the collector cup assembly MUST be washed and cleaned after EVERY use, otherwise the suction power is severely limited by accummulated debris. I've NEVER had the collection cup more than 1/8 full before I've had to change filters to maintain optimum performance; (2) the detachable hose (which allows for the attachment of a wand and hose entensions) is mounted right up next to the vaccum body, making it almost impossible to remove because you cannot get a firm enough grip on it in order to twist it free from its mount. Thanks to this, I just twisted off the entire power head which is now dangling by its electrical connection; (3) good luck trying to transfer the debris in the collection cup (and the dirt all around the filter assembly) into the trash without spilling half of it back into your room, or your lungs - yuch!; (4) cord is too short; (5) multiple wand attachments and brush head tend to break loose from each other while you're working with them; (6) the plastic vacuum body tends to ATTRACT dirt and needs to be cleaned regularly too. So who might want this vacuum ??? ONLY someone on a VERY limited budget with a VERY SMALL space to clean. Otherwise, don't waste your money. This is a lightweight performer that will disappoint you over time.

What our customer's say!

"Excellent, durable, and convenient for small living spaces", I have had the 410A model of this vacuum for over five years, and I think it is outstanding. If you have a small apartment (not a huge house), it is ideal. The refuse bin is very easy to empty, and the removable filter is easy to clean by flicking it several times against a trashcan. You can wash the filter in water on the very rare occasions that the foam gets saturated with dust. It is easy to disassemble if you get usually large leaves or hair stuck in the internal piping. (Other reviews noting low suction power perhaps have something stuck inside). I have saved an enormous amount of money on filters with this durable and convenient workhorse, and I never had to run out to buy filters or bags.

"I hope they redesigned", I have the model 410A and it is absolutely horrible. I only have an apartment and one cat and the vacuum's foam filter has to been cleaned after I barely get through one room. I get about a quarter inch of dirt or hair in the holder and I have to stop and clean the filter. Only positive I see in this vacuum is that it is small, good for storage in an apartment. Don't waste your money. I can't believe people actually like this vacuum unless they significantly redesigned the filter.

"Decent vacuum for light use, but doesn't hold up to extended use. ", I know this is the 410BT version of the vacuum, but I bought the 410AT version back in December 2002 (I'm assuming the BT is just a newer version of the same vacuum). Hopefully they've improved on some of the flaws in the updated model.

When I bought the vacuum back in 2002, I was originally pleased with the suction power and lightweight. I can handle this vacuum easily with one arm and move it up and down the stairs in my 3-story townhouse. Suction power is acceptable (*only* when the filter is freshly cleaned and empty) on carpet, pretty bad on hardwood floors, and good with the attachment.

Having owned and used this thing for 3 years, here are some of the flaws I've found over time. First, the vacuum is not particularly sturdy. It just doesn't "feel" very solid or well made. The seals and gaskets around the filter system are also pretty flimsy which affects its performance. I've had to unjam the rollor a couple of times when it got clogged by my girlfriend's long hairs (we have no pets). However, I will admit that I'm not sure if this is a common problem for people with long hair and vacuum. It could be something that you just have to deal with and be aware of. It's also possible this contributed to the second problem I've had, which is that the roller will sometimes stop working after some extended use. Turning the vacuum off, banging on it a little bit and turning it back on will usually fix the problem and the roller will start working again. As other people have mentioned, the capacity of the filter system is puny and the filter gets clogged very easily which really cuts down on the suction power. My house is about 2000sq ft of hardwood floors and carpet, but I have to empty the filter cup after every floor or set of stairs. Granted, I vacuum very infrequently, but that has been my experience. Lastly, related to the filter design, I've found it to be pretty "leaky". By leaky, I mean that the vacuum does a very poor job of trapping dirt and dust that has been sucked up. I can tell because of how dirty the housing of the vacuum gets after each and use and cleaning. The area around the exhaust gets coated with a fine layer of white dirt/dust which got passed the filter. It seems to pass a lot of dirt through the system and just spit it back into the air...

Overall, I'll say the vacuum was worth the money I paid for it. I bought it on sale from Amazon with a bunch of coupons and discounts, so it was very cheap. I'd say I got my money's worth in 3 years (I'm looking for a replacement right now), but knowing what I know now I would definately not pay full price for this vacuum. I wouldn't buy this for anything other than light-use (perhaps a college dorm room or small apartment?). You'll want to go with something better for a townhouse or bigger.

Pros: Small, lightweight, good attachment suction, cheap (if you can get it on sale)

Cons: Not very durable, poor filter system/effectiveness, build quality.

"Light and powerful enough for most jobs", After going through many vacuum cleaners as I have two dogs and three cats, this one does great on carpeted stairs and hardwood floors. It is one of the best lightweight vacuums --- and better than an electric broom. Thought it was more powerful when I bought it but it does the job quietly. Having a washable filter is a plus --- I have one in the Hoover floor cleaner that I have --- and it does make it a better applicance. Very affordable.

"Makes vacuuming easy", I hate vacuuming, but I love this vacuum. What makes it great is the fantastically light weight. It's so convenient that even I, an espoused hater of vacuuming, find myself cleaning fairly regularly. And it has excellent suction. It's as good as most vacuums that are twice its price.

Pros:
1. Extremely lightweight
2. Bagless and washable filter
3. Tools and accessories
4. Excellent suction on carpet, okay on hard surfaces.
5. Affordable

Cons:
1. Container does fill up pretty quickly.
2. Cord is kind of short.
3. Extension hose is kind of short too.
4. Does not balance well and tends to fall over on its own.

I don't have pets and I keep pretty clean anyway, so if you've got a lot of tough work to do, this may not be the vacuum for you. It's got good suction, but don't expect miracles. I think this unit finds its niche in apartments and frequent tidying, rather than difficult large jobs.

If I had the money, I'd get one of those steam cleaning uprights, but this vacuum is cheap, reliable, easy to use, and versatile. I'd recommend it highly. Just beware that it'll fall over if left to its own devices.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"The cleaning machine", This I the best vaccum cleaner I have ever owned. Its light and very powerful. Don't be fooled by the amps. Has two motors, one is for the brush. The brush is so strong that it pulls the vaccum cleaner. It also has a washable filter. This is a great vaccum if you live in a home with pet and have wood floors. You can find it cheeper at other stores. (BB&B).

"Disappointing", Initially I thought the vacuum worked well, but the more I use it I realize it has definite limitations. Its very easy to handle and doesn't weigh much. However, the cord which is plugged into the outlet isn't very long. I live in a small condo, about 850 sq. ft. and the cord isn't long enough to go to the end of one room. Very frustrating to have to plug it into a 2nd outlet just to finish the room. Also, I have a dog and was really thankful the vacuum had a bare floor switch. However, the rollar brush gets hair and dust wound around it frequently and I find I am down on the floor manually cutting and removing the entwined hair. Again, very frustrating. Maybe this would be good vacuum for someone who owns no pets and wouldn't have to use it much.

"Small, but packs a big punch.", Looking at the picture, you would think this vacuum was full sized. To my suprise, the vacuum is quite small. The size made me second guess my choice, but when I turned it on, I was extremely amazed. It worked just as well as a full size. The only drawback is that the cup for collecting dirt is not as large as a full size vacuum. I would recomend this for anyone with a small house or apartment.

"Best lightweight I have owned", This purchase was to replace a useless cordless electric lightweight (Rowenta) which stopped working completely after 1 year. This has the most power of any lightweight I have owned. I like the wheels so that the machine does not scrape my wood floors. It picks up debris very well from wood floors, even between the cracks. I was able to use the extension to remove gnats which came in and were attracted to my ceiling. I was surprised that it had enough power to do this. Only negatives - initially, found the cup difficult to empty. After a few tries, it seems to be easier. The machine is noisy and a little on the heavy side but worth the tradeoff to get real power in a convenient little machine.
