"Powerful Fam" This is such a great product. I have yet to find a fan that even compares to it. I bought one 3 years ago and it fell down and broke. I was glad to find it on Amazon and THE PRICE WAS RIGHT! I highly recommend this fan. "Great Product..couldn't ask for better" This is a wonderful fan. I first saw the fan in my doctor's office and thought that I had to find this fan, it was great. Fortunately Amazon had it and boy does it cool the room like an a/c. It does not blow hot air at all. I own a vornado, and compared to vornado, the holmes pack a punch. If you purchase this fan you would not regret it. A little noisy, but that can be ignored. "Solid fan, really moves the air!" This is a nice sturdy smallish fan, but don't let that fool you. It *really* moves the air, much better than any of the box fans I've owned, a lot better than the standard el cheapo oscillating fan I used to have. Yes, it's a little noisier than some folks will like. It doesn't bother me at all -- it's like "white noise" -- and I only had to boost the volume on the television by two points (from 28 to 30) to accommodate it. Mine works great pointed toward the ceiling, on the lowest setting, and effectively keeps a 15' by 28' living/dining room comfortable. It got up to near 90 degrees today, and I was perfectly comfortable all afternoon (most folks don't have air conditioning up here in the Pacific northwest). If you're usually bothered by background noise, this probably isn't a good choice for you. But if you usually tune out background noise, this is a decent alternative. Wait for it to go on sale (check the Friday sale, deal of the day, etc.). "heavy duty fan" we like this fan a lot. It's not as tall as your typical standing fan. we like the height though. It doesn't take up as much room. There are different angles and we can angle it at the ceiling if we want to. It is louder than some fans but it's nice to sleep to. It's a sturdy fan. It doesn't fall over like some of the box fans we have had. We are happy with the purchase. "Too loud" The fan is much too loud. No matter what setting I put it on, it sounds like a blizzard in my apartment. That said, the fan itself is reasonably strong for its smaller head size.

What our customer's say! "Powerful fan!", Excellent fan - I agree with other reviewers who say this fan works very well. "Blizzard = LOUD", This is the loudest fan we've ever owned - and unfortunately we've owned many. We cannot have it in our bedroom or the kids bedroom at night and even in the family room it's so loud we have to turn up the TV volume a bunch and it's very hard to have a conversation. We're getting rid of this "blizzard" fan and buying a more traditional one that's quieter. "Holmes Blizzard Fan - Won't Last Long - Stay Away", The Holmes HASF-99 10-Inch Velocity Blizzard Stand Fan is no longer sold by Amazon and now only seems to be sold by third party merchants. That should be your first clue that this item is sub-par. I am sure they had to deal with many returns and complaints due to it arriving broken or breaking shortly after. While the fan itself does have some good qualities, everything around it (the body, extender bars and base) is made of really cheap plastic and will definitely break sooner than you think. I probably would have given this 4 stars too if I would have written this as soon as I got it. But after a full summer using it this gets no more than 2 stars, and that's being generous. For starters, the price offered by Amazon was much lower than any of these sellers. At this price, I personally wouldn't be buying this under any circumstances. The Bad The base of this fan has some cheap concrete in it to weigh it down. The concrete in mine was cracked in shipment, however, because the packaging didn't secure it well. I thought I would still give it a chance. Check your shipment! If the concrete in the base is damaged in transit, just return this. It will eventually break all the way just from using this fan, as you will soon read. The height is somewhat adjustable because you can use or not use one or all three bars that are interlocking. But the problem is that the weight of the base slowly wears on those bars whenever you have to pick up the fan to move it. It only took a few weeks for one bar to break. Then the next bar broke a few days later. Now I have the equivalent of a table lamp. And after all that, the base broke too. The only wear and tear on it was from moving it. That's not enough to justify the short life span of all these parts. It's almost painfully comical to see just the fan head sitting on the floor like that because all the supporting parts have long broken. The Good The fan itself is nothing special but works ok. There are multiple speeds and you can set it up to sweep from side to side, both features that are common with almost every fan. At the greatest speed, this fan is pretty good and creates good circulation. I have used some larger circulation fans, and this doesn't rise to the level where it deserves to be called a "blizzard fan." Still, the fan mechanism held up longer than any of the body parts, and like I said works well enough to get this guy up to 2 stars. These days there are more options in fans available. I recently got a Honeywell 3-Speed Digital Tower Fan with Ionizer that I've been quite satisfied with. The air flow is comparable and the design is much more efficient space wise. It's a higher cost, but if you need something for a room it's much better looking too. Other than that, if you are looking for a circulation fan there are other options, though I haven't tried all of those. Versa-Kool 12 Inch Circulation Fan 12 Volt Hunter 90021 Century 12-Inch Performance Oscillating Fan Honeywell HFS641P 16-Inch Remote Control Stand Fan Just don't try this one though because it's really got a short life span. I'm surprised by the cheapo construction from a brand like Holmes. Regardless, some people may still buy this. Perhaps if the wear hadn't already started in delivery this would have lasted a little longer. But if you don't want it to break on you, the minute you set it up don't move it at all. And don't pay anywhere near list price for this, because frankly it's not worth it. Happy shopping. Good luck. "Powerful Fan", I have had this fan for over a month and it is probably one of the most useful items I have bought on amazon. It is not very quiet but when you look for power you have to compromise on sound. I guess I am used to the sound and I would say that the comfort of the cool breeze from the fan really outweighs the smooth buzzing sound it creates. Overall great product. "Be Carefull in . . .", . . assembling this. Its made entirely of plastic and it isn't hard to strip the pole screw threads by twisting them together too tightly rendering the fan unable to adjust height. Mine has been quietly running 24/7 for over two years now. Difficult to clean but it must be done for performance sake. I will not buy another of the same because of the plastic construction and it having a non-removable grill for cleaning. Performance: 5-stars; Craftsmanship/Design: 1-star. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "GREAT FAN!", Very strong, sturdy construction and can be tabletop or floor fan. No issues here! "great fan", If you want a fan that is compact this is great, it is rather loud on the highest setting but if you also want it to drown out noise that is a good thing. You can leave your window open and not hear much outside, and get a lot of fresh air. I'm using it now in conjuction with a window ac in the bedroom and it is actually bringing the cool air throughout the apt. As far as cleaning goes it doesn't really come apart, I think just using a can of air will probable clean it okay, maybe take it outside to do that, other than that I'm very happy with it and now its in the hall and looks good, and takes up harldy any room. "Great fan - great value!!", This is truly a "blizzard" fan. It moves lots of air even on the low setting. It may not be "whisper" quiet but it is by no means a noisy fan. I fall asleep with it on easily. During a 2 week heat wave here in California all the stores were out of any decent fans, so I found this on Amazon and it was at my doorstep in just 3 days. Easy to assemble and like I said, it moves lots and lots of air and really cools my biggest rooms. Great fan and a super value. "Powerful fan and compact size", This is a great fan. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars and not 5 stars is because the speed settings should go from low to high but instead they go from high to low. Not a big issue but enough that I can't rate it as perfect. The fan not only pushes a lot of air but serves as a great sound buffer. I can open my window and not worry about being woken up by passing cars or barking dogs. Because I use it in the bedroom I don't point the fan directly on the bed but instead about a foot above to circulate the air. I don't think it's ever a good thing to have a fan blow directly on you. "pretty good fan", I ordered this fan this past summer. It works pretty well and we like it. It's heavy and we've had a little trouble getting the stand to stay together but it works great except for the noise. We had to move it out of the bedroom to get any sleep and watching the television with it going on high is an issue. But all in all we got a decent price, free shipping, and it helped alot during the hot months. |
