"Non Stick complaints"
I have used this pan for 2 months. I never wash any frying/grill pans with soap.. just water. Never put them in a dishwasher. Yes, at first it looks like the pan is ruined, but after about 2 weeks it develops a hard, stick resistant surface that will let eggs slide off. You should never wash a high temp pan with soap, unless you want to scrub it every time you wash it. High temp surfaces do not need to be sterile... they get to 400F and higher.. enough to kill anything.

I agree this pan is NOT the usual Calphalon quality. But if used as above it will work fine. Also, if it warps... beat it back flat with a hammer. It can take it.

"not real calphalon"
I bought mine because I trusted the calphalon name. but when I took It out of the box I knew something was wrong, It did not feel right, Its much to light which will cause your food to stick, making more work for you when Its time to clean up. this is not commercial cookware and should not be advertised as such.I'm sending mine back.

"not that great"
I agree, I bought this pan even after reading the bad reviews. I wish now I would have spent the extra money and purchased the All-Clad. Not sure why they say this is non-stick. Actually they say stick resistant, which is probably closer to reality. This pan is hard to clean, a George Foreman grill is easier. Also the handle is not polished Stainless Steel it is like a sand blasted finish.

"Not Up To Standards"
This pan is so hard to clean I finally stopped using it and it also warped. It was a very big disappointment and not up tp Calphalon's usual standards. Buyer beware you will most certainly be dispappointed with this grill.

"misconception of cleaning"
I was given this grill for christmas with the warning of a bad rating becuase of cleaning. I think this is ridiculous, cleaning the grill is a snap. It is a wonderful tool for winter time burgers when it is snowing too hard for the barbique grill. Cleaning is a snap! All of you bad reviewers read up! Pour two to three cups of water on the grill and a few squirts of dawn, put the grill back on the stove to simmer for ten minutes. Grab a paper towel and wipe it clean! It is that simple.

What our customer's say!

"treat it like cast iron", After weeks of fussing and scrubbing I finally tried to season this pan like cast iron. Since then I have had no problems. It looks ugly but after proper seasoning and NEVER using soap or a scrubbie the pan works fine. Just oil and store after rinsing with hot water. I agree this is DEFINEATELY NOT up to Caphalon standards.

"Good enough for what it does", I have been able to get some good results cooking with this pan but you have to get to 'learn it' a bit. Whats works best for me is to treat it as if it was a cast iron pan. As I have been seasoning it in, my cooking results have gotten better. Plus you really have to watch the heat (and definitely really preheat it has to be hot before the food goes in), high medium seems to work best for me. (as an aside, it does smoke I have activated the smoke detector one or twice!) Cleaning has not been that much of a problem - just warm water let it sit for a few minutes to loosen then rub it out with a cloth - no scrubby and definitely no detergent. Once clean thoroughly dry and then a little dab with a slightly oiled cloth - again just like a cast iron skillet. Appearance wise it looks ok, after all it is a working skillet. Bottom line it does cook a nice looking steak but it does take a little bit more 'work' than a normal skillet. Just give it and yourself a little time, you will get results

"Eh...", Was a little disappointed with this pan. Neither the finish nor the performance live up to the Calphalon name. I own probably 10-15 separate calphalon pieces (Commercial Hard Anodized, Commercial Non Stick, Calphalon One, Triply) some made in the US, some in China, all of them leaps and bounds above this pan. I suppose it works well enough and Amazon is not asking too much for it but in all honesty you're probably better off getting a different grill pan or for the same price the 12" Calphalon Hard Anodized Everyday Pan.

I will disagree, however, with several users that complain about cleanup. If you read the instruction booklet that come with the pan, you'll not only understand that the pan isn't "non-stick" but also why, for this type of pan, you don't want non-stick. When browning and searing (meat in particular) Non stick has a tendecy (because you're cooking on plastic essentially) to steam the food rather than sear and brown it. Now that's not to say you can't brown in a non-stick (calphalon's commercial N/S is especially good in this regard) but that you will generally get better results and better tasting food if you use anodized aluminum for this type of cooking. Give the pan a quick deglaze after cooking and cleanup will be alot easier And you'll have a fantastic sauce base to work with...

Anyway I probably wouldn't buy this pan again due to its sub standard fit and finish, but for the occasional indoor grilling its not bad for the price...

"Don't buy this pan!", I don't even think this pan is Calphalon! It has a completely different texture inside and out than any of my other Calphalon pans, and it's not stamped "Calphalon" or ANYthing anywhere on the pan. The skewers are made in Taiwan... I'm sending mine right back.

"This pan stinks...", This pan now has one function, to uselessly take up cabinet space. Food sticks so badly that it becomes unpresentable. Cleaning it takes all night. The cooking surface doesn't seem to add any real benefit. One reviewer wrote that the pan works better if you don't clean it, though many Calphalon users display their pans when not in use and prefer not to have to have caked-on nastiness just to be able to use their cookware. I would avoid this at all costs!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Kmart Cookware Vs. Calphalon", I come from a family that buys quality items - but when I moved away from home - I bought my cookware at Kmart - 7 piece set for around 50 dollars. They were hunter green and matched my kitchen - lol - that was the mentality:). 6 years later, I am now starting to replace my cheap cookware because, frankly, it sucks! I absolutley LOVE my Grill Pan from Calphalon! It's great...granted I can't throw it in the dishwasher like my hunter green ones - but it's worth the time to scrub it. I priced the brand made by Calphalon at a few stores and the quality of this pan vs. the "spin off" is by far better and MUCH cheaper in price. So, if you are someone who is starting to upgrade your pots and pans - this is a definate must!

"Great little grill pan", This is a great deal for a quality piece of Calphalon cookware, that normally costs way more than what amazon is selling it for. Please note, this is not a non-stick cookware - and cleaning is not quite so easy.

To help with cleaning, after removing the food you've cooked, keep it on the heat, and add some water and continue heating. This will loosen up any pieces that have stuck to the pan. Or, better yet, make a sauce by deglazing the pan: After you finish grilling, remove the excess fat, add a small amount of liquid, (like wine, stock, lemon juice, sherry, etc) to the grill pan and start stirring. Get into the grooves of the pan with a wooden spoon to get all the bits up into the sauce.
Oh and it's important that you remove the pan from the heat when adding anything alcoholic so you don't burn your face off!

"Stick-o-rama", Despite all my efforts, everything I cook sticks to this pan, and I find it impossible to clean. I'm crazy about my Calphalon Commercial Nonstick pots and pans, but this one was quite a dissapointment. I may try the All-Clad nonstick square grill pan and see how that goes--I have a feeling it's worth the extra money.

"Ex took the warped one (or Warp factor 2)", This is a great pan for grilling indoors and popping right into the over to continue cooking. But although I followed the instructions, the pan warped. Get me one that won't warp and I'll buy two more as gifts.

When the price came down again, I bought another to replace the warped one the ex took with her (see above). Mine has been working great since the cold weather got here. I use it a couple times a week. Deglaze with water on the stove and it cleans up easily.

"Nice grill marks.", I just received this grill pan a couple of days ago. I find that it is lighter than other Commercial Hard Anodized pans but works just as well. The outside is rougher than the inside. I made some grilled chicken which I finished in the oven. There was a lot of baked on sauce but I didn't find it too difficult to clean. I just put the grill back on the burner with some water and soap. After about 15 min. of simmering, everything washed right off with a scrub sponge. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. The skewers are a nice addition.
