Others say...

"It's ok, a little messy but nothing seemd better"
It works well, looks good, is not that big and does a credible job. Not too noisy. Cons are that dial is calibrated in seconds 20, 25 etc., so it is hard to remember and equate how much per cup. Seal between output hole and plastic cup is not that great, so there is always some grounds that spill out on the base of the unit and on the counter for each use. It also stupidly has a black cords though it is white. I guess I'd give it a 3 1/2 if I could.

No other brands that were reviewed seemed better at a moderate price.

"Wouldn't buy it again"
I've owned mine for about three years and am now looking for something less messy and less loud. It takes a good couple of minutes to grind enough for a single cup of coffee, and if you're trying to do this while someone is still asleep, household discord can arise. Because the canister for the grounds does not sit firmly onto the grinder, you have to stand around while its grinding to keep it from coming off. Perhaps because the burrs have become dull, for about a year now I have to regularly hit the top of the container to keep feeding the beans through the grinder as it operates; otherwise it gets stuck and no beans are ground. All of this fuss leads to a pretty messy counter. Braun definitely needs to improve on this design.

"Excellent Grinder for the Money"
The Grinder works well for a variety of grind settings, and while not exactly quiet isn't as loud as the grinder it replaced. I've yet to try the expresso setting.

"Well designed solid grinder"
This is so well designed that I can't find a better one at any price.
1. Few other grinders have a knob to set the time for grinding, and the few that do have a buttons or sliders - not nearly as accurate or easy!
2. It is white so you can see the coffee and where to clean.
3. You can access the orifice to scrape out the coffee - I haven't seen another that allows this. (you don't want yesterday's stale coffee sitting in there)
4. The removal and replacement of the bin is easier than any others.
5. For the price it is unbeatable.
Another reviewer complained about static - I would say that it is a problem on the very driest of winter days in Rochester, NY. I didn't downgrade my rating for this becuase I don't know if other brands are any better.

"Early failure"
We were replacing an old coffee grinder with a brand new identical unit. The new unit was shipped promptly. Unfortunately, the unit failed in operation on its second day in use. We shipped it back, but we cannot get a replacement since the item is on back order. Our account has been credited. We have never before had any difficulty with the Braun grinder and expect to purchase another when they are available.

What our customer's say!

"A good budget burr grinder", Having used this grinder 3-4 days a week for 8+ months, I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from their "whirly blade" without breaking the bank. Aside from needing the occasional thorough cleaning (as pretty much any heavily-used grinder will), it has kept on ticking without a hitch. Hard to believe this unit has so many negative reviews.

I can't say anything about its super-fine grind levels as I did not use them, but for both drip and french press use, I found it more than adequate. Its grind was understandably not as even as many coffee snobs would like, but at this price, what do you expect? This grinder cost me over 40 bucks plus shipping when I bought it, but now that you can get it for 30 bucks it's an even better value.

My only real problems with the KMM30 are the static in the ground receptacle and the amount of dust generated. In my case, you'd often find a nice grind in the bottom half of the chamber but a clump of powder stuck near the top. Ironically, for french press usage, the static problem made itself useful by keeping all the powder separate from the grounds - after grinding, I'd just hold the chamber over the garbage and scrape off the clump of dust. If my $100 Breville were doing this I'd be pretty unhappy, but again, this is a 30-dollar grinder so it's an easy compromise to make.

"Good value", I bought this coffee grinder several years ago. It works very well. There is a hopper which holds a couple of days worth of coffee beans. A variable grind ring allows you to select any fineness or coarseness of grind with just a twist. Since it is a burr grinder, the beans drop through the grinder and are caught in a cup. This produces coffee which is evenly ground. Freshly ground coffee really tasted better to me. I think is grinder is an excellent value.

"espresso grinder", excellent burr grinder allows you to fine tune the grind for the perfect cup of espresso

"Not for the Avid Coffee Drinker", It's too slow, too messy, and it is noisy. Dismantling and cleaning usually results in changing the grind setting.

"Too fine", My usual method for coffee is a french press. The coarse setting isn't course enough to use in a french press. The coarse setting grinds the beans finer than what you will get from a coffee shop for a drip maker. This makes for a very cloudy cup of coffee. I have gotten a better grind using my old blade grinder.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"It didn't last 6 months", Before it was 6 months old this grinder for no reason had the blade break. There's a warranty, but by the time you pay to ship it back and put up with the other hassles, it is easier to just go buy another grinder--not another Braun. It is a pain to buy a premium priced product and get so little for your money.

"Easy Use", if the coffee mill would be easy to use, not too bulky, and would look pleasing to the eye to leave on the counter top. passed all tests, love the item!

"perfect coffee grinder", Own the first model of Braun and have to replace it after 17 years of use. Great looks, good grinder.

"Braun coffee grinder - top of the line", The Braun coffee grinder met all my expectations - the operation is very smooth. The coffee is perfectly ground. It is anti-static so the coffee doesn't fly all over the place when you measure it. I highly recommend this product if you are into grinding your own coffee fresh each day.

"Excellent grinder", I've had this grinder since 1995. I'm very happy with it's performance. Nothing has broken in all of this time.
The #1 setting is not quite course enough to be Ideal for French Press brewing, but but this is not enough of an issue to give it any less than 5 stars.
