Others say...
"wonderful tea" I love this tea pot!!! Keeps the tiniest little bits of tea from escaping. Brews very well! "Press - NOT" I thought this would be more like the coffee press, which I really liked. This thing doesn't press the tea at all, since the rod doesn't go to the bottom. Taste of the tea is not nearly as good as when brewed by my previous method. Am trying to think up some other use for it, but so far no ideas. Seems like a singularly useless product. "A cheap product" It is a cheap made-in-China junk. My wife spotted the same product for $10 at Ross. "I got rid of mine" I can not possibly understand why they would make the strainer basket out of plastic. Why would I want to subject plastic to boiled water? There is a great deal of concern with plastics reaction to heat today. Is this plastic safe? I don't know. I emailed the company asking exactly what kind of plastic is used. They responded the plastic used is safe for human use. ??? That's their opinion without knowing exactly what plastic is used who knows if it is safe. Why not use stainless steel stainers in all their units? This applies to the 6 cup unit also. "Looks nice except for the polycarbonate strainer and plunger" I was poised to buy this product, but unfortunately, it has parts made from polycarbonate. That would not be so terrible if these parts were not designed to be immersed in hot water which is then drunk. Polycarbonate may not be safe for immersion in hot liquids, due to a constituent chemical called Bisphenol-A. (Actually I personally don't use any plastic heated in contact with food or drink unless I can't avoid it.) Bisphenol-A is an endocrine disruptor, so if you're thinking of reproducing you may wish to avoid it for the sake of the next generation. This is my own personal opinion, not set forth as scientific fact; this review represents my own best understanding of this issue. If you want to look it up for yourself, however, you can google Bisphenol-A where you will find much more authoritative information on the subject.

What our customer's say! "Bodum Teapot", Love my new teapot and will be using it daily when it gets cold here again. "Good product", Great for loose tea. Even for tea bags. Like it all around; i'm a coffee drinker, and only rarely drink tes; but my tea-slurping guests love this little schmeckle! "Teapot leaks when pouring", I found that this teapot leaks down the side of the spout when pouring tea. It seems impossible to avoid as I've tried pouring several different ways (fast, slow, with infuser, without infuser, etc). I believe that the curvature of the spout is the Achilles heel of this teapot. A good portion of your tea will wind up in a puddle on the table when you use this product. "Two Tops Would Be Better", This is a nice small tea pot. My only complaint is that the top/press doesn't stay on very well when you're pouring the tea. Had Bodum supplied a second no-bells-and-whistles top, I would have awarded more stars. "A great way to brew tea!", I must have made tea 10 times in the last two days, just to get to use this teapot! I received it is a birthday gift and instantly fell in love. It looks amazing, with or without tea, and while that's hardly what matters most, it's certainly a nice addition. More importantly, it's very helpful to be able to see the tea as it brews, and I'm thrilled at not having to use a tea infuser. Instead of emptying the infuser and throwing out the leaves, you can just seal them off (very easily!), and when you're ready to make more tea, you can just uncover them and pour in more water. And if you're in a hurry, you can even brew the tea faster by pushing the plunger up and down. The pot seems very solid, and while I wouldn't drop it on the floor, I don't worry about breathing on it or putting it in a stack of dishes to dry. I really don't see anything not to love about this tea press! ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Bodum Assam 4-cup tea press", I gave this item as a gift and the recepient loves it and uses it daily. She is so thankful for the tea press feature that she is not going to purchase any more tea bags in the future. "Size matters", I've been happy with this teapot - does what it advertises, cleans up easily, keeps the tea warm for a while, especially if you cover it up (I use a knitted winter hat to snug down over and it stays warm at least an hour.) The only caution - if you order the 4 cup size, be aware that you must make at least 3 cups of tea, otherwise the water level will not reach the tea leaves. If you routinely make less than 3 cups at a time, get the smaller size and brew it up twice if you need to occasionally make more. "Great for tea", Loose leaf tea is so much better than tea in a bag and this tea press allows me to drink my tea without having to drink the leaves or small bits. "Great cup of tea", Makes a great cup of tea. The first one we got came broken (plastic part) but it was replaced quickly by Amazon. "Ok, not perfect", The basket needs to have finer holes because tea leaves find their way through, and you have to brew the whole thing because of the design. It's not possible to successfully brew just one cup. It is also not possible to remove the basket and use the carafe to brew using a tea bag, as the lid does not fit without the basket in place. Could use some design improvement. I don't think it is worth $25, maybe $15 at best. You're paying for the name. ![]() |
