Others say...
"Drups Coffee Maker" I like this coffee maker so much I have bought another one. It is easy & simple. Thanks Amazon for making it so simple to buy. "Perfect gift" I bought this coffeemaker as a gift for both my mother-in-law and my father for Christmas. I needed something with a timer that wouldn't leak. I needed it to be really easy to use and easy to program. This coffeemaker was both. My Mother-in-law and father have raved about it and how easy it was to program and use. It really didn't leak and they could get a cup of coffee while it was still brewing. "Works great, Looks great" This coffee maker works like it is supposed to... and it's easy to use, easy to clean... "Great Coffee!!" This coffee maker produces some great-tasting coffee. Best part is the automatic timer so I can set it up in the evening and have the coffee waiting for me when I wake up in the morning. It also has the stop feature so I can pour my cup while the coffee is still brewing. "Good machine, lasts a long time" Like most people, I've owned several coffee makers over the years, and currently have a cappuccino maker, pod coffee maker, 1-cup-at-a-time maker, but the Krups Crystal Arome Plus Time is my favorite maker if I want a good cup of coffee. I've owned this machine since... gosh, I don't remember it's been so long, but it seems like 6-7 years, and it hasn't failed me yet. As I read some of the other reviews here, the first thing that came to mind was, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! They gave the impression that it was the machine's fault the some of the features wouldn't work. Two issues stand out. One was a complaint the flashing filter warning light wouldn't turn off. Well, push the filter reset button. Simple. Another was that the coffee maker, warming plate turned off after only 1 hour. Well, this is the factory default so some of us don't set the thing on fire after leaving an empty pot on it before going to work (yes I've done that), thank you Krups. But if you read the instructions, you can set this feature from 1-5 hours. So there! Anyway, there are two major factors to making a good cup of coffee, the quality of the coffee, and the maker. This maker does a fine job, for this price range. The coffee is brewed to a temperature of 170°, which is decent (the ideal temperature is around 180°). It took about 1 minute per cup of coffee brewed, which has slowed down from when it was new. It's probably time for a decalcifying cleaning. It has the auto brew feature so you can set it to make coffee before you get up, and as noted above, you can also change the auto shut off time. I feel better knowing it has a filter, which not only helps filter the water you put into it, but also help to reduce calcium build-up. Besides, I always try to use bottled or filtered water for better taste. The only problem I had was using the carafe in a microwave oven. Although the instructions state that you can heat the carafe in a microwave oven, when I tried it, the handle felt like it was coming loose. I guess the microwave softened whatever glue they use to mount the handle. Because of this flaw, I would give this product a 4.5 instead of 5. I've never had an issue putting the carafe back into the maker completely so the coffee brews correctly into the carafe, or with coffee dripping when pouring it into my cup. Most coffee makers in this price range are about the same quality, and materials, but I bought this Krups because of the style, features, and trust in the Krups name. I would recommend buying this item.

What our customer's say! "Krups 467-71 Crystal Arome Time 10-Cup Coffeemaker, White", This is a wonderful coffee maker. I wish it was still on the market. It is so ergonomical the way the coffee carafe fits into the coffeemaker surrounding and protecting it. It is also an attractive, streamlined, tidy package. It is not a big square, akward, industrial, bulky looking coffeemaker, which is allot of what is on the market now. If you do not like stainless steel today, you are out of luck. The clock could have been easier to read. It uses the #4 coffee filter papers. The watertube level is easy to read. Pouring water into it is not difficult. A very nice coffeemaker indeed! "Lasted a good 10 years", I bought mine in 1998 and it finally died a couple of days ago. While I agree with the poster who mentioned the flashing light that doesn't go away for the filter change, and I stopped using the filters a while ago (and actually event the clock and timer) at the end of the day, the machine is reliable. Yup, for 10 years day in and day out it has brewed a solid, tasty cup of coffee and frequently many a day, without fail. The replacement is already causing problems a couple of days in. RIP old trusty. "Nice coffee maker", makes great tasting coffee. NOTE: use the water filters. Filtered water makes a BIG difference. "Great Coffee Maker", I have to say I don't right many reviews, but I rely on them before making a purchase. I thought I should start adding to them, although a little late for this product since it has been discontinued years ago. I bought my Krups from Sears on a open box rack for $25 back in 2002. I still see them on Ebay for $80 new. Mine is retiring to back up service as I just got a new Cuisinart from the kids for Christmas. I've totally disassembled it twice just to clean it. Though the first time I did that I didn't snap the water tube in tight, back at the hinged section, and it would drip when I pulled the carafe out to sneak a cup before it was done brewing. My Krups has made the best tasting coffee. Everyone who drinks from it compliments the coffee. The styling doesn't get old. Water filters readily available. The first glass carafe I've owned that didn't dribble all over while pouring from it. I had to laugh though, I just read an old review complaining about the flashing filter light only resetting after unplugging the unit and having to reset the clock and timer.... uh, well, I've done that for years. Then I read a response to that review, and LO LO said to push in the reset button next to the flashing light. I went to the kitchen and took out an ink pen and pushed in on what I thought for years was the white dot "off" indicator and WHATTYA KNOW... it pushes in!! Wished I knew that along time ago! Anyway, the only complaints I've ever had was water collects under the lid from the steam, then drips down the back and onto the counter when you open it. The clock and timer has to be reset after even the shortest power outage. (That was the first thing I checked on the new Cuisinart, unplugged it, counted to twenty, plugged it back in and it did hold it's time, also checked that the carafe didn't dribble while pouring, it would've gone back if either of those things had failed, but I'll review that one when I've had it a bit longer.) I had to modify the feet on the Krups by adding self-stick felt pads because I have to slide it out from under the upper cabs to fill it and it was marring the countertop, that will happen with about any coffeemaker. If you can get your hands on a new Krups 467 (through Amazon, Ebay, etc.) you wont be dissapointed. It is a great coffee maker. "Poor Quality", We registered for this coffee maker at BB&B for our wedding. We loved it at first until we realized: - a little over a year later the drip stop is almost worn out. We can't "stop and pour" - it's leaking coffee from somewhere - we can't figure out where and to keep it from ruining our counter we have to sit it in a tray - the gold filter thing is very expensive to replace. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Yes, it does have design flaws", Enjoyed reading reviews of the design flaws of this coffee maker. I agree with the user who says she doesn't use filters. Neither do I. My water is already filtered. (You can get the filters at some stores, ie Bed, Bath and Beyond.)The flashing light is very annoying, resetting the unit is a pain. An important note about leaking carafes. I have had my unit for about ten years, so I have had several carafes. Some carafes leak no matter how slight an angle you pour at, except for dribble. Other carafes do not leak even if you tip the pot to 90 degrees. This is a quality control issue. With one pot, my mother would always pour it all over the counter, when she visited, no matter how many times I showed her the dribble angle. Also, the lid of my unit is showing signs of aging after all this time, so it has a slight warp, which causes the top to sometimes not sit properly and for water to leak out onto the counter top. This is an annoyance, but, hey, the thing is ten years old. Overall I have found it to be a long lasting and reliable coffee maker, despite the design flaws, and I would have to see some convincing data before I replaced it with another model. "Good coffee...cheap plastic", Other reviewers have complained about the carafe. We just broke our first after one year of use. That's pretty average for our family. My complaint is with the all-plastic construction of the coffee maker. The lid you must open each time to fill the water and coffee grounds is made of plastic. One hinge snapped off within the first week of use. The unit has continued to make very good coffee but for this price they should use better quality materials. "Excellent Purchase", Like the delicious coffee that this model Krups (467-71 Crystal Arome) makes. Use of machine is simple, cleans easily, is almost intuitive to use. "Excellent Coffee Maker", I received this Krups as a gift in 1999 and it has worked flawlessly ever since. No, I can't find the water filters for it and haven't looked for them either. I've never needed water filters for my coffee, have you? Also, it's never leaked. I suppose that it's never leaked because of two reasons: I seem to have an uncanny ability to put the carafe back in the machine the right way and I don't seem to have a need to dump a cup of coffee into my mug in .0023 seconds. Take your time people, it won't leak if you don't pour at an angle of 175 degrees. If you're that much of a snob, just stick to your starbucks and fuel our economy. If you just like a good cup of coffee, this is the machine. It has a small footprint on the counter, it's easy to fill the reservoir, and it is a clean little machine. It doesn't over steam and create condensation under my cabinets like other snob machines. I love this coffee maker, and as long as it keeps working, it'll stay on my counter. I don't expect my coffee maker to do my taxes, watch my kids, and change the oil in my car. I just expect it make coffee. "Good Machine", We received this coffee maker as a wedding gift 8 years ago, and have used it almost everyday since. Never had a problem or a leak. We have used the timer mode alot without issue. Unfortunately my husband has to program it every time we unplug it, or have a power loss. I can't figure out how to set anything without a manual. But making basic coffe is a breeze. The warming plate keeps coffee warm and without a cooked taste for at least 1 hour. Longer than that it does taste baked. I used unbleached paper filters, and the coffee is very good. You can really taste the difference between brands and types of coffee. A good and reliable machine. ![]() |
