"Works great"
I tried this, like others, after Cook's Illustrated ranked it tops. It is -- I had no problem with mashing 7 potatoes the other day in a short time. I like the circular holes--ensures no lumps but doesn't overdo it like a hand mixer does. Highly recommend despite the price (besides, I've noticed that with the American fixation on cooking these days, all kitchen product prices have increased, so the price on this didn't shock me...and since it works so well, I don't mind paying a litle extra at all).

"Profi Plus Potato Masher"
After all the rave reviews, I was a little disappointed. I thought the mashing disk was too small and it was awkward to handle and mash. Results were OK, but not better than the wire type we've used for years. Actually wanted the Rosle masher, but balked at the price.

I purchased this masher as a stocking stuffer for my husband who is our resident potato masher. He used it to mash our Christmas dinner potatoes and said that it was the best masher he has ever used.

I would buy one for everyone I know if they weren't quite so expensive.

This potato masher was purchased upon recommendation by Cook's Illustrated, a cooking magazine that actually tests the recipes and the tools many times before recommending a certain thing. Of all the mashers, the WMF Profi Plus was rated the best for it's value.

After using it a few time, I agree. The handle was easy to hold and the right width for a good grip, the holes in the masher allowed the mashed potatoes to go through and leave the unmashed behind, and the masher didn't slip around in the bowl. Finally the contraption was steel and had a lot of broad surface area instead of tiny wires so it very easy to clean manually or you can stick it in the dishwasher.

"Simply the best"
Cook's Illustrated rated this tool wisely. I love it and this was a hard sell for my and my Norweigan roots of a ricer. Hands down I still love a potato ricer however this is fast and easy and gives great fluffy mashed potatoes.
