Others say...
"Outstanding knife" If you find the handle comfortable, it is hard to beat this knife. "Love it" Love the knife. The handle is a little thin, but that hasn't bothered me at all. I love that it's all metal, and all one piece. "Another review for Global..." My wife is the Iron Chef of the house, but I know a good thing when I see it. Both of us swear by this brand. They are much more expensive than going to Walmart, but not bad as far as "quality" knives go. They are well made, balanced, and look classy as well. Definitely my favorite. I plan to get the wife every type of Global knife ever made. "Proud to Be a Global owner" This item (utility knife) actually was for a friend... a fellow foodie. Once youve used any Global knife - you feel as though all other knives in comparison fail at their job. I'm the owner of 4 Globals thus far - I will purchase more in the next year, but this paring knife is a great starter to begin with... even if its the only Global you get - you'll see how versitile it is & will go on to recommend to friends and family. "Excellent knife" I do a lot of cooking so I did a lot of research before I purchased the knife. Very sharp, nice feel, good price as well. I use it often and I am very please with it. I highly recommend.

What our customer's say! "Some Drawbacks", I have owned and used my set of Global Knives for 5+ years now and have enjoyed using them. One of the good things about Global knives is that they keep an edge much longer than do other knives. This is achieved by using a very hard steel alloy. The down side of this is that hard steel is very brittle and care must be taken not to subject the blade to twisting forces or impact/shock. My wife dropped my utility knife from waist height onto the kitchen floor and the blade broke in half. This is not covered by the global warranty. "Excellent blade, small handle", As with all Global knives, the blade is outstanding. The handle on this knife is really too small though. I'm a man with medium sized hands and a touch of arthritis and find that it can be a bit cramp inducing to peal more than a few pieces of fruit with this knife. Our other Global knives are excellent to my hand. "nice knife", Global knives are top of the line. Beautiful ergonomic style. High-end Cromova steel alloy for super stay-sharp blades "Nimble, light, sharp", This replaced my Henckel 4 inch paring knife, which could never stay sharp. So for the Global works a treat. I'll probably need to get a stone to keep it as sharp as it was when it arrived, but a standard steel keeps it easily sharp enough to use. I don't know why I ever hesitated to buy one. "You can't go wrong with Global.", I use my Global chef's knife for nearly everything in the kitchen. But some of the more delicate kitchen tasks require the care and precision that is just plain difficult with an 8 inch blade. That's when I pull out this bad boy. It has the same razor sharp blade and stylish good looks as its big brother, but in a much smaller package. I use this knife for every small task ranging from segmenting oranges to coring or filleting strawberries. Just beware... Many of my coworkers who have big hands or "sausage fingers" find this knife a little too... well, little. If that is your case, you may want to skip Global and find a paring knife with a larger handle. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Great Knife", First of all I would like to applaud Global for a great product and Amazon for fast shipping. Now lets talk about the knife, at first I was a little worried about how thin the handle was, and I had read that people thought the handle was thin and uncomfortable. However, I have large hands and I think that the knife is quite comfortable. I used it today when cutting onions, garlic, shallots and numerous other things and found it rather comfortable and it really did not feel like I had anything in my hand. In addition to this, the balde is extra sharp and it is a breeze to cut through anything. I would reccomend this knife to anyone looking for a great quality, smaller blade utility knife. Plus you arent going to beat that price. Have fun with your knife! "Global 4 1/2" knife", This is best knife I have ever owned. Ultra sharp edge is easily maintained like new or better. "A good knife, but not perfect", I ordered this knife in order to determine whether a larger set of Global knives was in my future. Although it's a nice knife, it's not something I feel a need to own more of. I'm an avid cook, but it comes out of my spare time, so I'm looking for comfortable knives that are easy to use and clean; this one isn't as comfortable as I'd like. PROS: It's really, really sharp--I don't spend a lot of time honing or sharpening, and it's held an edge well for several months of steady use. Given the sharpness and thin blade, it's good for cutting firmer things than you might expect for a knife this size. It's very easy to clean--no crevices--and the steel comes clean quickly, presumably because it's so dense. The blade's a handy size, making this a true utility knife good for lots of little tasks. CONS: The handle is surprisingly _thin_, more blade-like than I expected, and I find it uncomfortable to push down on. This is the main reason I won't buy more. As well, the handle is a wee bit short (my hands are medium-sized, not particularly large), so the grip isn't as secure as it might be. And, despite both the above, it's a bit heavy. Overall, it's a really nice knife, easy to clean, doesn't need babying, and it's freakishly sharp. However, it's not as comfortable to use as I would look for in a whole set of knives I planned to have for many years. "The finest paring knife you can aquire", I have been an avid amateur cook for 25 years and have worked with a wide variety of kitchen tools during that period. Knives that I have utilized range from the "cheap but effective" to the finest products from Henckels. But the knives I use daily are the Globals', and the one that I cannot be without is this one. Although it is designated by the manufacturer as a Utility knife, it is simply the best paring knife I have ever used, and I've gone through a lot of them. Its razor sharpness is easily maintained, it has a perfect heft and balance, and it is exactly the "right" size and shape. It just feels great. Sorry if I sound so effusive -- I am not connected with the Global Corporation in any way -- but I would recommend this knife to any serious cook who has exacting standards in kitchenware. ![]() |
