"Not a uni-tasker! Overall a good value"
I had one of those electric deep fryers that only did deep frying. Hard to clean, not very big, smelly.

This one is a dream to clean. Take the plug off and put it in the dishwasher! How easy is that?

It's good size. I used it to make doughnuts and it will hold 4-5 at a time. The strainer basket is nice. The handle folds in so you can store it easily.

Downside: It takes a while for the oil to heat to correct temp. The ready light is NOT a good indicator of the temp. I use a candy thermometer. But the candy thermometer won't fit (mine is a clip on) while the basket is in place. Takes a few minutes after the ready light goes on to reach temp. Also, the little footpads seem to stick to my countertop. I suspect those things will come off after a while.

I bought this primarily to deep fry in, but have used it to steam vegies. Does a fine job at that. Have not tried it out as a rice cooker yet.

Overall, a good value. Price was right and it really is easy to clean.

"Presto 0600 Electric Muti-Cooker/Steamer"
For the Newest to the Oldest Cooks. Presto 0600 Electric Muti-Cooker/Steamer is a 5 star Rating. This is really a Muti-Cooker. This Cooker will replace your Crockpot, Steamer, Deep Fryer just to name a few of your Kitchen Products. It's easy to Clean. This will Make Cooking Dinner a Joy again.

"Excellent multi-cooker"
An excellent product, quick and safe.
Most of my friends prefer this item.
It would be the best if the cable was a little longer.

"Great product!"
This is a very nice product to have. It saved me money on having to buy a rice cooker, deep fryer, and a deep pot. I already have a slow cooker which I also love, but I highly recommend this product for anyone who wants more than one machine but not have more than one in the house. This does it all! Its great for deep frying because of the handy basket that comes with it, it's great for draining that oil and not having to burn yourself if you accidently drop a french fry back in the pot. Great Product!

"beware: this is not a fryer"
this item is not a fryer. It is underpowered for that use. I tried to use as a fryer: the oil takes a very long time to come up to temp (375 max), the recovery time after adding the cold food is very slow, resulting in oily food. Its possible to cook 10 wing pieces, but frozen french fries will completely overwhelm this units ability to keep up.
It probably works just fine as a steamer/vegtable cooker, but if you want a indoor fryer look for 1800 watts of cooking power. Better yet, do what I did: buy a "turkey fryer" set up, and cook with propane (outside on the back porch). Propane provides real power to cook family sized loads of food quickly and easily. In my opinion all of the electric fryers- even the 1800 watt subbersible element models- are for small load frying. If youre cooking for 6 or 8, or are having a football party, etc, the exterior gas cooker gives you the performance and capacity that's similiar to the restaurant fryers speed and quality. Its all about getting the oil to 395 degs and having the power to keep it there.

What our customer's say!

"flaky pot", I gave this for a Christmas present to my wife The Cooking Fiend in 2007 and she "purely loved" it. The temperature control was the best feature. She could perfectly sear a small pot roast and braise it in the same pan. It made soup outstandingly every single week. She used it many times every week. It worked great for deep-frying bluegill too. She cleaned it occasionally in the dishwasher but usually by hand, no abrasives. Imagine our dismay when she saw the non-stick finish flaking off. She just about cried, because while some may call us flaky folks, we do not use flaky cookware. So I'm on the hunt for something more durable. What a shame!

"Wow!! Does What the Others Can't Do!!!", This unit deep fries, steams, boils, sautes, slow cooks and even roasts!!

It's a very versatile helper and a marvel in the kitchen! I've used it for just about everything imaginable!!

I truly like the fact that when you're done using it, you can wash it by hand or in the dishwasher with the heat control removed, of course. Great little appliance!!

"The most important tool in my kitchen", I received an early version of this pot in 1988, and it is still the most used and important tool in my kitchen. I love that everything but the cord can go into the sink or dishwasher; and I love the controlled heat (150-400F). Mine has been used to blanch my garden veggies for freezing; it's a GREAT pasta pot, and an accurate deep fryer if you don't overload it. I love it for chili and gumbo; and HEY, IT ALSO SLOW COOKS! Toss those crocks in the next yard sale...this one does it ALL. The low heat settings also make it great for holding soup, stew, and dip during the "big game." A beautiful buffet piece for entertaining. I've even kept hot cider in it for the holidays. Non-stick is a huge bonus too. And after I fry, I can stash the unit in the fridge to store the oil for next time. It's a kitchen in a box.

"All or nothing", Well, it's convenient, but the way this pot works is that once you bring the liquid to a boil, if you want it to simmer it alternates between no heat and full heat. So, every so often it will get to boiling wildly then shut off, and keep going this way. I'd rather have something (like a rice cooker?) that would actually keep a simmer going with constant low heat.

"Presto Multi-Cooker", This is the second Presto Multi-cooker I have had. The first one was wonderful, but after having it for about 7 years, I dropped it and broke a plastic foot off. Instead of trying to replace it, I bought a new cooker.

The new one is very similar, the only difference being the temperature control. Whereas the control on the first one was fantastic, the new control is not nearly as good. For example, if I set the temp of the first control on 212 deg (boiling), water in the pot did just that, it boiled very slowly. Other temp setting were also good.

The new control is very different. In order to adjust to just boiling, one has to set the control way down into "Warm" and the only way to get a temp you want is to just play with it. The numbers on the control mean nothing other than higher numbers give higher temps.

Other than the problem with the new control, the new cooker is just as good at the old one. Identical, in fact.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Presto cooker/steamer", I've been looking for a cooker like this for a long time. I can start a pot of soup and not have to watch it closely after it is turned on low and simmering. It does just what I wanted it to do. i also love the magnetic disconnect.

"I've waited for someone to dream up this appliance", For many years, I've always hated giving up a burner to a stock pot or another for deep frying. This works like a charm and is cleverly designed, simple to use, heats up quickly and maintains its temperature. I feel very safe in deep frying with it; it sits very sturdily on the counter. Next to an electric skillet and food processor, this is a MUST for a busy kitchen and great for a summer cabin. I'd have paid twice the price.

"Cook, Fry, or Steam there is none better than Presto 06003", I use the Presto cooker primarily for deep frying potatoes, breaded chicken and pork chops only which does an excellent job and use a seperate similar cooker (Rival) for slow cooking only (which also can be used for deep frying with the crock removed). The Presto is deep enough that it does not splatter oil on the counter even though I use a fine wire mesh screen that covers it. I got rid of a Rival deep fryer only model CF151-WD because it required filters that had to be replaced, was hard to keep clean and when you lifted the lid condensation fell into the oil and caused the oil to splatter and could get burned. It was the only time I bought a kitchen applience without looking at reviews for it. The great reviews for the Presto 06003 on Amazon was what led me to purchase it.

"Great for Hotpot and other Asian cooking", I use this bad boy for Chinese Style Hotpot and it's the best. It's perfect for up to 6 people. Heats up very fast, well made and well priced.

The safety power cord is great too, it uses magnets so that it disconnects if anyone trips on the cord, rather than knock over the cooker causing maming injuries to it's victims.

It also works awesome as a steamer for frozen dumplings.

Highly recommended, great-cheap appliance.

"Presto 06003 Options Electric Multi-Cooker/Steamer", I like this machine, it's simple to operate, lightweight, and stores easily. However, it frequently makes an annoying clicking sound as it adjusts temperature.
