Others say...
"Must read all of the directions!" I have read some reviews and they go one-way or the other. You can tell who read the directions and who didn't. I am eating chicken that I cooked in it right now and to quote my husband "it is the best Chicken ever!" Some of the recipes are hard to get perfect because stovetop temps vary so much. Once you get the right temp and use the right times opening and closing the valve when it tells you, you can make some great meals. My favorite has to be the whole chicken. It's crispy on the outside and falls off the bone because it is so tender. A whole bird takes 25 minutes! I don't get home from work until 5pm so that is a good thing. Clean up is great because you only have one pan to clean up. I don't get into many of the cakes and deserts but for meat and veggies you can't beat it. My advise is don't give up. Read the directions and adjust your stove top temp a little here or there and you will be happy. "Can't live without my Turbo Cooker." I have had mine for years now. It's still holding up. I have cooked so many things in it I can't list. ITs very fast and convienant. I really enjoy the cooking a cake on top of the stove concept part of it. Specially the cheesecakes they turn out excellent and crack free too. Don't crack like they would in the oven. The steamfrying feature is nice too for porkchops. Steam your vegetables right on top while cooking the meal below. I love this and would recommend it to all looking to get into a healthier eating living style. "Not really worth the money." I purchased the Turbo Cooker in 2001 from Target for $59. I never buy "As Seen on TV" products because they rarely live up to their claims, but I thought I would give the TC a try. Included in the box was the pan unit itself, springform cake pan, metal stacking tray, and lid with air vent. I have mixed feelings about this product. When I got it home I experimented with three recipes: The breakfast pizza, basic cake, and steak and stuffing. The stake and stuffing balls turned out fine (the steak took next to no time to cook in the TC) but of course the stuffing was cooked ahead of time, which made for extra dishes to clean. That's a given. Overall I was happy with how fast the stake cooked. I followed the cake directions on one of the recipe cards to the letter, but the cake turned out rubbery and undercooked in some places. And again I followed the recipe card for the breakfast pizza exactly, and the egg burned a little and ruined the low-quality, non-stick surface. In all honesty, the TC didn't save me any time cooking and I wound up not using it again for anything other than another pan. I decided to keep the TC and I still have it. With the ridges on the bottom of the pan it tends to warm faster, which is a plus, but the cooking area is pretty small. I use the stacking rack and lid now for steaming vegies but that's all I keep it around for. The recipe cards are long gone. Overall I don't recommend this product, for the simple facts that the price is a bit high and the pan/lid aren't high quality. But then again, you cannot expect much from a TV product. "Loved It Until Lid Gauge Broke" I loved this product for steaming food using little or no oil. Great for Veggies, warming up left-overs, and cooking on top of the stove. However after a year the gauge/valve on the top of the lid just crumbled off. I called the number on the Turbo cooker website. They assured me that they would send a new lid. This was in 2003. I never got it. When I called they said that it had to be back ordered. I will never buy another one. I often wonder if a lot of the new products offered via infomercials are just scams. The customer service always stinks. "Awesome Cooker" My Mother bought a Turbo Cooker from TV and bragged about how good it cooked. I did not believe her until she convinced me to take hers home and just try it... It is AWESOME... I baked a whole chicken and veggies in half the time.. it was so juicy. My husband loved it and said we should tell Mom we lost her cooker so we could keep it.. When I returned it to her I told her I must have one... It is awesome.. Well worth the money.

What our customer's say! "TURBO EXPRESS !", Just bought ours brand new in the box at Goodwill for 7 dollars. Thought we'd give it a go as the concept is sound, having used a Wok for chinese cooking. The operative word is WOW. We threw in 3 fat chicken breasts and poured over a box of rice-a-roni. The rice a roni's box indicated it would take 30 minutes to make. Poured in two cups of water cooked for 10 minutes and added one more cup of water and cooked for another 5. We flipped the breasts once. We stuck some brocolli on the top rack and put the burner on HIGH. We totally winged it. We kept the burner on HIGH a little too long and the rice began to burn on the bottom, but we caught it quick so no harm done. If one knows the burner temps and when to go from HIGH to MEDIUM or LOW......you will have awesome, tender chicken with great flavor. Our first meal tasted great, fed 5 people, and instead of using 3 burners for a half hour, we used one for 15 minutes. You do the math! Awesome. Mitch "Turbo cooker rocks!", Most of the junk you see on tv infomercials is just that: junk. This is the rare exception. The turbo cooker is an excellent all-around cooking device that allows very fast steaming, stir-frying, and just about anything else you can do on a stove top. We've had one for several years and it's my wifes favorite pan. Like all the teflon-coated stuff, though, after years of use and an occasional "oops" (meaning badly burned food), it was time to send her pan to the trash bin. This meant an immediate assignment for me to replace it. Fortunately, Amazon had them in stock! This is one pan you won't regret purchasing. "Turbo Cooker not so great", I previously had a Culinare Quick Cooker, which is another quick cooker that looked almost identical to the turbo cooker. It was my favorite cooking gadget and I used it multiple times a week. After a couple of years, I simply used it up, the non-stick surface gave out. When I looked for the Culinare, it was only available in foreign markets and I didn't have experience or confidence buying overseas directly. I knew two almost identical cookers came out at the same time so I tried the Turbo Cooker. The non-stick surface seemed to weaken on the first one or two uses. The food doesn't taste nearly as good as with the Culinare. I've used it maybe six times and rarely reach for it anymore when cooking. I think a wok would be a better choice. "base pan", The product offers a healthy way of cooking but I agree the material used to make the product is inferior. Just under a year of purchase while cooking the base exploded and a fairly large hole appeared at the bottom. I can no longer use the product.I still like the product as a cook and I AM HOPING THE COMPANY will assist me with having the base replaced. Generally when using the product it could be a bit time consuming to have to add water at times, but the plus is if you take your time to understand how to use it the food usually tastes good and it is healthy. "Great cooker!Yummy!!!", Yummy meals!!!I have two of these Turbo Cookers because the serving portions for certain recipes are pretty small. It is so fast and simple!I love it!I do add a little extra water for the recipes and cook an extra minute or two for certain recipes, though.(and stir a couple of times)I ordered some extra recipe cards and there are tons of delicious meals!!A+++ ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "A Good Investment", I have had this cooker for over a year and it is fabulous. It has tasty receipies and cookes foods quickly leaving them moist and juicy. The cola cake with cherry topping is so good! For the ones who say it's impossible to ice, you could get one of those cake decorator icing squeezers and ice that way or even make the runny kind of icing which would look great on little dessert plates and top with a strawberry or other piece of fruit. I had a fun time reading the low reviews this turbo cooker got! Quite entertaining. "I LOVE this item!!!!!!!!!", My husband and I saw this cooker on TV for a few months. I thought it looked great, my husband was not so sure. My mother in law bought it along with everything else on TV and used it for us one night. She made dinner and that coke cake. My husband loved the cake and said that we had to have one. I am nervous about buying off the TV so when I saw one in the store, I purchased it right away. I have been using mine for over a year now and love, love it. I use it for everything. Most of the time as a skilet, but it does the job better and faster than anything I have. It is great when you are in a hurry and forgot to thaw your meat. Add a little water or broth and there you go. I will never use anything else again. I am thinking about buying a second one for myself for when the one I have is in the dishwasher. I will litteraly get it out and wash it by hand if it is dirty when I cook. I am also going to purchase one for my mother. I would give it to anyone. Even those who lack in the cooking department. It is so easy. It also has this way of making the meat come out so tender and juicey. I've never seen anything like it before. As a matter of fact, the cakes and such come out better with this than in the oven. Nothing but rave reviews for the Turbo Cooker.
Who ever invented this thing is a wise person. I love them for bring this into my life.
I love the Turbo Cooker "Awesome product but don't buy it from Amazon!", I love the Turbo Cooker and recently bought a second one from Amazon. This was a big mistake! Amazon does not tell you it gets shipped from Target, and shipping is ridiculously expensive because of this. The Amazon/Target version of the Turbo Cooker also does NOT include the springform pan. If you want the real thing at a cheaper price (once shipping is factored in) go to www.turbogriller.com. Customer service from the Turbo Cooker official site is great and extremely responsive. "Do not buy", This cooker should be great if the valve on the cooker lid was not of such a bad quality. I cooked great with it, but it lasts me only 1 month. When I try to contact the manufacture for parts, after several e-mails to their "customerservice" I never got any feedback. "best pan ever", i bought turbo cooker about 4 years ago and today i have 4. I use them for everything. roast take a little more time than the book says but is still way faster and more tender than a crock pot i use it to steam hot dog buns which make the hot dogs. I invent things to cook in them my 1/4 lb meatballs are huge favorite and it takes about 15 min. clean up is very easy. if you read this review you must buy it and be creative with it. This will be your favorite pan. ![]() |
