Others say...

"if it doesn't rip it will last for years"
I have had Krups coffee makers for years in the family. They do what they are supposed do fairly well. I don't like to throw money away in disposable filters (and don't like to help environment a little) so we always had the "gold tone" filters. This particular filter does not fit perfectly like all the others I have had. It was listed as the one that fits. The shape does not get in the way. It is always reusable as long as you clean it carefully. Don't rip it or will find yourself dishing another 10 to 13 USD for it. Don't throw away the coffee grids, with the filter in hand throw them in your sink and let the water run. It naturally helps to clean the pipes. I say save some money and get this one (just look at the manual or the website for the right model for your coffee maker)

"coffee filter"
I highly recommend this product as I have used it through three coffemakers. It just keeps going and going and going!!!

"Get the right filter!"
This is the filter that fits the Krups FME2-14 12 cup coffee maker. It does not say this and the other filter description states that it fits all Krups makers. This is false information.

"Nice item"
The item is wonderful. The shipping of the item arrived bent and twisted. I did not want to send it back because I wanted to make coffee. The people that packaged it did a lousy job of protecting the item sent.

"Krups Gold Tone Filter"
Works great, it is a lot easier than using paper filters.

What our customer's say!

"No good for fine grounds", This filter seems like a good idea but in practice it allows far too many fine grounds to enter the pot. This drastically changes the flavor of the coffee and makes the last few cups in the pot completely undrinkable. I suppose if I had a burr grinder I could adjust the grind to be less fine but I have a normal spinning blade grinder that has served me well and makes great tasting coffee otherwise.

I am sticking with my Melitta #4 Natural Brown paper filters.

"Krups 049-33 Gold Tone Filter", We bought the Krups gold tone filter for our new coffee pot so we wouldn't have to fool with paper filters. It's great! Easy to clean and a very fine mesh to catch the grinds.

"Useless", This filter is useless. I am extremely happy with the Krups KM7000 coffee maker now that I figured out what the culprit was (this filter). The filter does a terrible job of filtering out what I will call "coffee-mud". I was always getting a thick residue in the bottom of the pot and unless I made extra and carefully poured, I'd end up with this gunk in my cup. I still use the filter, but I use it with a traditional paper filter. Not sure if there is a need for this filter at all since I'm using a paper filter, but I like to think I'm getting some use for my $10.

"Economical and Enviro-Friendly", I bought this to use with our new Krups KM7000 Grind-and-Brew 10-Cup Coffeemaker, Black

The filter works as well as any other gold toned filter, they all leave a residue and it is much better then using wasteful paper filters. They last forever, and in my case, longer then the coffee pot!

"This filter is great!", I usually need to replace my filter around every two years, and it would probably last longer if I wasn't such a klutz washing it. Not bad for daily use!

"There Are Better Ones Out There", I have been using gold coffee filters for years for all my coffeemakers, however I was very disappointed with this one by Krups. I love my Krups Aroma Control with stainless steel carafe, but the Swiss Gold filter is far superior to the Krups 049. You can find the Swiss Gold brand all over the web -- the #4 is the same size as the Krups 049.

A good gold filter will give you the best coffee because it allows the coffee's oils to brew into the pot.

"Coffee Pot Filter", This filter is not, in my estimation, any good. It leaves a sediment , and the end product, the coffee, tastes terrible. Use paper filters insted for a great cup of coffee.

"Good but not great...", I've been a loyal Krups customer for the last seven years. I finally purchased the gold tone filter for my newest coffee maker. This filter keeps most of the grounds in while brewing, but unfortunately not all. This leads to a slight sludgy residue at the bottom of the carafe, which isn't much of a problem until you get to the last couple of cups. The filter is a good purchase in that it eliminates paper filter waste and does not contribute any sort of metallic taste to the coffee.

"Not too bad, but others are better", We bought this with our Krups coffee pot and well, after TWO of those that exploded, we gave up. However, this filter was going strong for quite some time and it was used on a daily basis. It does allow some of the coffee to filter through thus causing sludge on the bottom of the pot. Other than that, I love not having to buy those paper filters! I've run mine through the dishwasher for years without any difficulties.

"Very poor quality.", This filter was purchased to use with our news Krups coffeemaker. I was skeptical from the beginning, as the basket was flimsy compared to our older Krups filter. The filter cracked after two weeks. I would not recommend.
