"Amazing knives", We got these knives as a bridal shower gift in 2002 for our wedding from my great-aunt. We got the 8 piece set in the brown wooden box. True the box is not the greatest, but it doesn't really matter because the knives are what matter. The only reason tbe box matters is if you are giving the item as a gift, then of course you would want it to look ok (which ours did) but it doesn't have to hold up to much wear and tear. The box does what it is supposed to do. The knives seem to have a timeless classic and simple style that goes well with "fancy" or casual meals equally. We've used them at Christmas for prime-rib, mixed with our heirloom silver plated utensils, as well as with our everyday stainless. Not only are the knives good for steak, but also for chicken breasts. We are health-minded as well and yet it is nice to have these knives out when we have chicken, turkey, ham, etc. The kives are well balanced, attractive, sharp, and do a wonderful job at what they're supposed to, plus they look and feel good doing it! Yea!

"These are very nice; cut steaks very well.", These knives are very nice. My husband has been pleased. Cut meat very easily. Clean up nicely. Overall a very good purchase!

"very impressive knives", Comparing these knives to the rest of the available choices is unfair. They have great weight and balance and cut very well.

"Knives were smaller and not as sharp as I expected", They are OK, but not what I expected from a Wusthof product. I considered returning them, but decided they are workable and it wasn't worth the trouble.

"Attractive and well-designed", This set was a gift to our daughter and son-in-law. It complemented their modern china and flatware well. When we used them for Christmas dinner, they handled easily, were well-balanced, and rested well on the plate. From a reputable firm such as Wusthof, I know they will give many years of service. I was pleased with our gift. The box is attractive enough to go on top of a buffet or on a shelf in a china cabinet.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Wonderful!", First off, let me say that we don't eat much steak any more (cholesterol problems). We're not steak knife experts who insist on some particular type of blade edge. We do NOT like big ugly steak-house-restaurant type knives on our table. And finally, we don't care a fig about how good or bad a storage box looks. Our knives are rarely stored for long because whenever we serve any meat or fowl, we've always put steak knives out with the flatware. And OH MY, this Wusthof set is *phenomenally* nicer than the equally simple but hysterically expensive black-handled ones from Germany that we've been using for decades. This is solid, sleek, hefty-feeling stuff. The design goes wonderfully with our other flatware ranging from fancy to plain (in fact, the steak knife is actually heavier than some of the flatware pieces sitting next to it on the table). And YES it DOES cut very well indeed -- which is all hub & I ask from any knife!

"excellent knives", Excellent knives - very sharp, hold their sharpness very well so far (after about 1 year of constant every day use). I also like that the handle and the knife are the one whole, there's no plastic parts or rivets which can come loose or break over time. Oh, and people - do not judge these knives by the stupid box they come with, it doesn't matter if the box is made out of real wood or a cardboard, it has no effect on the functionality or reliability of knives. If you want to impress your stupid or simple-minded friends or relatives who will only be impressed by how the storage box looks like and not by the quality of the knives themselves, then you should just buy a cheapest set of steak knives sold here, then use the saved money to buy a better-looking box for those knives. Seriously, people, judging such excellent knives by the presentational box is, well, to say it politely, very illogical.

"Knives great, box is very poor quality", I love these knives. Wusthof makes excellent, top quality knives. Not only are they easy to use, but they are beautiful tools as well.

However, I would not purchase the box that these lovely items come in for any amount of money. Not only is the box cheaply made and lighter than a feather, there were several knicks, cracks, and chips in the box that made it unpresentable. I was hoping to have two nice sets of knives to pull out when guests arrive. Instead, I returned my purchase and now need to find a suitable alternative.

"They fit like a glove!", I have been looking for quality steak knives for a while now and when I saw these I thought they were not only beautiful to look at, but well made. We have been grilling a lot more now that we have them! They feel great in your hand and you can't beat the price. They wash well in the dishwasher too.

"A perfect gift", I gifted these steak knives for Christmas. I already own a Wüsthof chef knife for a few years now and I knew these will be good ones too. As expected I got a comment from the person whom I gifted saying that steak seems to be softer now... I dont know whether its the knives! I'm happy to have bought a perfect gift.
