"What a Slicer!"
This is the only slicer you need.If you enjoy making deli sandwiches, this will do the job.

"OMG!"
Hey this is great! I thought I'd end up spending $100.00 bucks for some fancy all-steel mandolin...then I found this. It does what it says. It's easy to clean. It works. Period. I don't use the food holder (gulp). I just make sure I am paying attention to what I'm doing, because this thing is SHARP.

"Many of my knives just became obsolete"
I just unwrapped this thing, and after figuring out how to put the extra julienne blades back, am already in love with it.

I had some overly ripe tomatoes that I wanted to slice up for sandwiches and general snacking (why is it things always taste better bite sized or thinly sliced?).

It takes about two seconds to figure out how to use the safety handle to slam through a bunch of fruit or veggies. Within less than a minute, I had eliminated 3, soft skinned tomatoes in even super thin cuts that would have required sharpening my knife and much thicker, sloppier cutting than I would have preferred. The leftovers in the handle was minimal.

For cleaning, it was just a rinse immediately after using (as you should with any sharp kitchen tool to prevent scrubbing/injury).

If it can handle my kitchen nemesis of almost-worn-out-it's-welcome veggies, I'm sure oranges, potatoes and everything else will be a cinch.

"Excellent Product"
For the price you expect a good product, and this is very good. You don't need one this expensive though. I love mine, and the locking mechanism is a great feature, but it doesn't lock the other blades, so it's not entirely "safe." Needless to say, I keep it far out of reach from my children. A mandoline is so great though, and every kitchen should have one! You can make "spaghetti" out of zucchini, and slice veggies paper thin for great texture. If you can afford it, get this one. If you are more strapped for cash, get the OXO one, it'll do the job too.

"Good Mandoline for the Price"
This is a good mandoline for cutting soft vegetables, but it has a hard time cutting potatoes. The hand guard is not made for holding potatoes well and they keep slipping out of the holding tines. I did use it to cut cucumbers to make pickles and onions for a julienne fry, but it takes more muscles to cut potatoes or cabbage. It is easy to clean by just rinsing it off after use, but it doesn't store well as there is nothing to hang it with apart from a v-shape that is near the middle of the back of the holder so it hangs out from the hook I tried to hang it on.

What our customer's say!

"Slice and julienne wth ease; save $$$ on your grocery bill", I purchased this mandolin slicer after seeing it on the Food Network. For the price, this is an excellent slicer. I know there are mandolins on the market for $200 or more but I don't have any need to spend more money. This slicer does everything I need.

Slice vegetables and fruits thick or thin. The holder protects your fingers from the sharp blade. The one tip to remember is that you don't want to overload the slicer. Keep the vegetable and fruit pieces manageable and you won't have any trouble keeping the slicer steady on the counter.

We have two young sons, so mixing up the presentation is important to keep them from getting bored. They like the large, thin vegetable slices for lunch as finger foods. We don't buy bagged salad kits anymore. Salad kits cost about $3-$4 per pound (most bags come in 9oz or 12oz sizes).

With this tool and the OXO salad spinner we have a wonderful salad in minutes.

"Easy as pie ", After a year and 6 months this unit remains sharp as new.It slices onions, celery cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots & potatoes in the blink of an eye.It makes short work of piles of veggies every time we make soups and/or salads.

"BUY this NOW if you have limited hand mobility", For once, I've got somehting that WORKS. My food processor (a really good KitchenAid), is going to my daughter in law.

Hooo Boy it's SHARP. For the first time I have a tool than can slice tomatoes without squishing 'em.

I use it just about every day.

Wonderful.

"Borner slicer", Bought one in Germany 20 years ago & finally had to replace it. Still great

"Bad Experience Here", I have not had the experience of so many others here. The item is not easy to set up, one must be careful of the blades surrounding the borders of the slicer inserts. Not easy to clean, made mush of the tomatoes, and potatoes.
Sorry, my experience rates this one star.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Great Slicer", Terrific product at a fair price. Compact design, and slices everything very fast saving quite a bit of time during prep. I can't figure out how to cube effectively but I'm pretty sure it's user error.

"Excellent product, Good Value", I am very impressed with this slicer. I bought it as a substitute for a much more expensive mandoline I own that is currently packed away. It performed very well for the task I needed it for (5 lbs of potatoes for scalloped potatoes). The storage box that it comes with is a bit odd, but it does protect the blades and is reasonably compact. We'll see if the blades stay sharp, but for the price I won't even care if they don't last forever.

"Love this thing!", I just bought this product a couple of weeks ago and I LOVE IT! I have owned a $200 mandoline for the last 15 years and I HATE that thing! I never take it out to use because it is so big and cumbersome to use and wash. This thing is the exact OPPOSITE of that! It slices and juliennes BEAUTIFULLY! It is also easy to clean and store and is a fraction of the price of the stupid stainless steel ones. Don't waste your money on the fancy one, get this and actually use it! You won't regret it.

"Can't believe the good reviews.", No clearance for food to fall underneath. Food holder leaves dark markings, giant holes and wasted food that falls off constantly. The slicer's holder is absolutely ridiculous letting the pieces fall out easily which includes sharp julienne blades. It's basically impossible to julienne sweet potatoes on the flimsy blades which was the main reason I bought it and leaves me using way too much pressure towards a very sharp set of blades that just aren't sharp enough to cut what I need to cut. The technique they offer for chopping onions is only a few knife strokes away from just cutting them yourself. Rinsing with water DOES NOT clean it. I have to use soap and water with a long brush right after or food sticks to the plates and in corners. I am pretty sure everyone on here praising this works for Swissmar.

"I have had one of these for 20 years", I have had one of these for 20 years. I use it all the time and cook almost every day. I am now purchasing one for my daughter who is on her own I hope she will use it as much as I use mine.
