Others say...

"I'm now a huge Emile Henry fan!"
I bought the Cobalt Blue ones and I absolutely LOVE THEM!! At the time, I wasn't quite sure exactly what I'd be using them for but they quickly have become a favorite in my kitchen. They make WONDERFUL salad bowls, cereal bowls, pasta bowls, soup bowls not to mention fabulous serving bowls. I'm so terribly disappointed that they have discontinued the Cobalt color as I would have liked to complete my set but I like the quality and am in LOVE with the VIBRANT blast of color on these that I've decided to mix & match various colors. I only hope that Amazon will bring back the individual dinnerware sets so that I can do that.

These bowls are slightly larger than I would think I would use for ice cream (not that I wouldn't want to eat that much :-)) but I've used them every night to fill up on salad and have had several of them out on the table with various veggies and they make a beautiful presentation. Besides the vibrant splash of color, I love the design of these bowls in that they are wider at the base so there is no chance that they'll wobble like my other Pflatzgraff bowls.

Others have claimed that their items have arrived broken...while I agree that Emile Henry could package their dishes a lot better (one of my boxes of bowls had a thin layer of padding on the top of the box while the bottom portion was heavily padded...I got lucky and all 8 bowls arrived in perfect condition. There were a couple of bowls that had a teeny bubble in the glaze but it was minor and the others are flawless. Thank you, Amazon for pricing it so that I could afford them. I've wanted to try this line out for almost 8 years and was only able to because of your pricing. I only wish I had the entire cobalt set!!!

"Emile Henty Pasta Bowls"
Dear Sir or Madam,

When I purchased these bowls, it was because I was recently introduced to Emile Henry kitchen ware and love it. However, I had no real purpose for buying the bowls, I just thought they looked nice. And yet, since I got them, I use them every day! They are so versatile, I use them for everything from soup to leftovers. The look lovely on the table and clean up to look like new.

Great product. As soon as I have a good excuse to do it, I'm going to buy more!

Sincerely,
Rita Baumann

"useful elegance"
These are the bowls you reach for several times a day -- beautiful, easy to clean, versatile.

"Beautiful and tough: best ever for pasta, soup, and salad"
These bowls are the workhorses of our kitchen: tough enough for everyday use (and frequent runs through our UNcareful dishwasher) and pretty enough to put out for company.

When I first began using Emile Henry table and cookware years ago, the idea of banging around the kitchen with pottery (especially pottery with unglazed bits like the bottoms [not the sides] of these bowls) made me very nervous. But in time, we've learned that this pottery requires no special handling. Almost anything else in our kitchen has to be treated more carefully than these hefty bowls.

And almost nothing is as versatile. Although our nest is empty, I bought several sets of these because they are useful for soup, salad, and dessert -- and more. That they can go in the microwave and oven and under the broiler means that they are useful small serving dishes: vegetables and cobblers, for instance.

The red is beautiful and bright. And the bowls are so useful that I consider picking up this set in other colors, too.

"Amazing Everyday Use!"
These bowls are perfect for everyday use. Infact, I find myself eating atleast 2 meals a day in them! They heat up in the micro and look great on the table. Very durable and heavy enough to provide some gravitas to your next meal, be it oatmeal or pasta!

What our customer's say!

"Love them", Before ordering these bowls, I read several reviews. One of the reviewers said she uses them every day. I wondered if I would too...I do. I love them! They are everything they were represnted to be. Thanks.

"Highly reommended!", Buying these was, definitely, one of the best ever additions to my table. These bowls are the perfect size for chili, curry, soup, a pasta course, or a luncheon salad. They are self-insulating so keep foods hot for a long time and are, particularly, excellent for use in the microwave (hot food but no burned fingers). One of the things I like best about these is the fact that they don't look out of place on my Wedgwood or Royal Doulton - everyone who has seen them has said, "These are, really, nice ~ where did you get them from?".

"Not What I Thought I Was Getting", I ordered 4 white ones to add to a set of glazed pottery pasta bowls I've had for years. Although the glaze on these is bright white, so much of the underlying pottery is visible that the overall effect seems creamy, not a true white. With the unglazed bottom, they are more casual than elegant. These are the smallest pasta bowls I've seen, which may be why so many folks find other uses. They might have been good for my husband's super-sized morning bowl of shredded wheat, but I decided to return them.

"scratches easily", I don't love these as much as I hoped. The white inside glaze has gotten dulled by grey scratches fairly quickly. Also I ordered four but one arrived broken due to inadequate packing materials.

My cheaper Williams-Sonoma and Pfalzgraff dishes seem to be holding up much better (although some of the Pfalzgraff arrived broken as well).

The red color looks very flat in the photos but seen up close it's actually kind of earthy and speckled, which I like, it has some character.

"A new Emile Henry Fan", I ordered four of the Emile Henry Couleurs Red Pasta Bowls and I have to say I'm a big fan! First, they are not lightweights but good, strong clayware. The red exterior glaze is beautiful and has a feel that's not glossy smooth but one that I love to run my fingers over! The interior is a beautiful glossy white. I collect American Art Pottery and I have to say these bowls are right up there with the glazes on some of my favorite pottery. The bowls were well packed and there was no damage to any of them on arrival. I've wanted to replace my dinnerware for quite a while and now I know what I'll be replacing it with!

"These are fantastic!", I have the white bowls. They are great for soup or stew or pasta--large enough for maindish servings. They are very attractive and sturdy. Highly recommended.

"PASTA PERFECT AND SALAD SUPREME", These bowls not only add a cheery, appetizing look to our table, but they're perfect for both pasta dishes and salads. The Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad is a favorite, and the red of the bowls makes the lettuce look even crisper.

Whatever your preference in pasta - spaghetti, linguini, ravioli, all are well served (pun intended) with these bowls.

Last but not least the bowls are almost indestructible - microwave them, pop in the dishwasher, keep warm in the oven, or even run them under the broiler. After repeated use the color retains its original bright hue.
