Others say...
"Great fan, powerful and quiet, but don't count on temp control" As others have said the temperature control auto mode is useless. However I didn't buy it for that feature so I don't care. Poor production quality though. This fan was very easy to set up and operate. I appreciate the ability to change the air flow direction. The fans are both quiet and powerful. The remote works well. Our house is well insulated with 6" exterior walls. Once it gets hot from the sun coming in through the large glass surfaces it is hard to cool off even though the evening outside air is cool. This window fan pulls warm air out of the house allowing us to open windows in strategic places to draw in cool air. The first time we used it it paid for itself. "Intelligent product" I read a review that someone said that it turns off automatically after it reaches a certain temperature. While this is true, it also has a setting to not turn off at all. It has a built in temperature guage setting, so depending on what temperature you want the room, the fan will turn off once it reaches that temperature but then goes back on to keep the temperture you desire. I find this feature great since the room will be whatever temperature you would like from 60 degrees to I think 90. If you don't like this feature then you can simply choose the auto setting which will stay on until you turn it off. Either way, it has 3 speeds for both the temperature guage and the suto settings. I believe it even has a timer, but I'm still getting to know about this product since I just bought it 5 days ago. My mother has had this product for about 1 year and she said she loves it. It does truly make the room colder, on like a 85 degree day it made the room feel comfortable, I was able to drop the room temp to 75 degrees. It has two intake and exhaust settings, so you can also make air come in and pull air out, which I think will cool the room off and pull hot air out. It comes with a remote, but haven't really needed to use it yet. Somethings I didn't like: The only thing I didn't like too much was how loud it is. Well, I slept with it in my bedroom, but I thought it was a little too loud although I slept through the noise. Also, I don't like the fact of having to take it out of the window and putting it back up, but I guess you can just leave it there if you like the windows open. I just didn't like how it looked from the outside of my house. It doesn't look terible, I just thought it didn't look that nice, and inside it looks ok. I've never really owned a windeo fan so I guess the look is something to get used to looking at? Well, these reasons are why I gave it a 4 star rating. If you're someone who needs the room silent then this might not be for you. I thought it worked well in my living room since the room was bigger, I'm not really trying to be in a quiet room, and I couldn't really hear the noise. Just like most things, buy it at a store and try it until the warrant is about to run out and if you don't like it then return it. The only thing you have too loose is some time. "Great Fan! Has it all!" I really liked this fan. Its quite and easy to install. I like the thermostat feature too. Highly recommended! "Nice little fan - easy to install in and out of windows" This has ended up being a nice, quiet little window fan especially great for use in a double hung window. It is lightweight and easy to install in and out of the window as needed but is powerful enough to move air qround well in the average-sized room. "Great with One Caveat" These are terrific window fans - quiet and reliable. We now have six of them deployed throughout our home. It's not air conditioning, but they do a good job of moving air and they are easy to relocate as necessary. We've purchased these fans over three years and they continue to have one flaw. The thermostatic control bears no reference to reality. The auto on-off functions work fine; but the thermal sensors just aren't anywhere near accurate. The readings are all over the place and typically 10-15 degrees high. It's kind of a shame because everything else works really well and they could have just made them "3 speed manuals".

What our customer's say! "Keeping cool at the lake", We now own three of these fans. We use them at our cabin as we prefer not to use air conditioning. They operate much quieter than standard window fans and the light sleepers really appreciate this feature. They haave a few more bells and whistles than needed but they are the best fans we've ever had. "Perfect Window Fan For ANYONE", This window fan is amazing. I purchased two, one for my upstairs bedroom and one for the downstairs living room. The thermostats work great, so whatever problem other people have had has seemed to be fixed in these later models. Don't expect these things to keep your area super cool, it isn't an air conditioner. The fans make it comfortable to be in a room and circulate the air very pleasantly. My first problem however though was that I had a window that was too big for this item with extensions but the one upstairs only needed one extension and I just moved its second one to the unit downstairs and it fit perfectly. I would imagine if your window is larger than 37 inches, you could contact the manufacturer for more extensions or you could rig something yourself. One of the drawbacks on the remote is that the power button for the fan also controls the fan speed, it covers every other facet of the fan seperately but for some reason not that one. Nevertheless, these fans are awesome, are going to lower my electric bill because I don't need to run the air conditioning as much and keeps the family cool. On high it can be a little loud but after awhile you drown out the noise. I couldn't be happier with this purchase and would gladly buy more for other rooms. "Great window fan", I'm very impressed with the fan. It creates great circulation and fits the window flawlessly...even with a screen on. I would highly recommend this fan if you're looking to create a little breeze through your house or apt! "I payed $45 for this fan about a month ago...", I went back to Amazon about a week ago to buy another and the price was $54. Then I checked again 2 days later and the price was $99. I came back today to check the price and they want $149. What the heck is that all about. I'll buy another at $45 and no more. I hate when internet companies try and rip you off. And that's exactly what they're trying to do. If you can get it for $45, I recommend buying it. Update. It's seems they've brought the price back down to $54. Interesting. Let's see if it goes back to $45. "Great window fan.", I've had this fan more than a year now and decided to write a review after having bought a Honeywell window fan. I guess I didn't really appreciate this bionaire before I used the other fan, Honeywell. Honeywell window fan is so loud that I can't use it for my bedroom. So I decided to use it for the living room, but now I have to turn up the TV volume higher and get irritated by the noise. But, bionaire's quite and circulate air very well. I really recommend this bionaire fan to anyone comparing between Honeywell and Bionaire. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "bionaire review", Great looking fan, looks nice and high tech in my window, I secured it vertically with electrical tape. Yes, I had to take it apart, move the thermostat wire and tape it away from the moter to get the thermostat to work properly. exhaust mode seems fairly weak, but ok, high speed is a little noisy, so I keep it on medium. Definitely don't need the A/C most of the time with this fan. "A nice window fan-BUT!", I purchased this fan after I thought I checked everywhere. -This fan runs very quietly which is favorable to me at night when I sleep. -I knew that a thermostat was necessary since I didn't want the fan to run all the time however I was wrong. The thermostat on the Bionaire BW300 adjusts but the fan doesn't ever turn off (This is a working feature) which then causes my electric bill to go up. -This fan comes with a remote control, thats cool however I can't tell what the setting is at a distance when using it. I'd like to know when the "exhaust" or "intake" feature is actually on without having to guess or wait for 7 minutes at night when I would like to return to sleep right away. -Imagine this, what if you would like one of the fan blades to produce "intake" air and the other to produce an "exhaust"? The remote control does control it however unless you actually get up and go over to the fan and check, you may have to guess (unless you're from mars or telepathic, I'm not). So, this makes the remote control somewhat useless to me. The fan is not very powerful but pleasant. -I have now found a window fan I used to own a few years back after checking with [...] which is a Honeywell HW-628 which doesn't offer a remote control. I suspect I will be happier with it and I may return the Bionaire fan. We'll see. (Always check with Amazon for the unexpected or great deals) -I don't need a remote control if I know my fan is doing a fairly great job. -The Honeywell fan HW-628 will allow me to continue to sleep without changing the settings so much as the thermostat will be adjusted and turn on and off as it is set to the desired level. Thanks, James "Fine If Your Ignore Temperature Sensor", If you're willing to either fix or ignore the temperature sensor problem mentioned in several reviews, this is a good product. It's possible to ignore the sensor because it doesn't affect the basic operation of the fan. The remote is very convenient, the fan is quiet on the lower two speeds and the ability to have one fan on exhaust and the other on intake is a real plus. Works well for us. "Really glad I bought it", I am very happy with this window fan. The remote is great feature. The temperature gauge seems to be a bit off at times but the fan is very quiet does what I wanted it to do! "great fans if you're able to move temp sensor", I bought two of these fans on the strength of a friends strong recommendation and seeing them in action. However, I noted other reviewers' complaints about temperature measurements. Sure enough, both of my fans, when left turned on, indicated temperatures at least 10 degrees higher than actual room temperatures. Coupled with the inability to set a regulating temperature higher than 80 degrees, the high readings effectively made the thermostat control useless. Before returning them to amazon, I re-read the detailed instructions of another reviewer on how he fixed his fans. Before doing that, I tried an experiment. I unplugged each fan and put them near my home thermostat whose temperature reading I trust. Left to cool to room temperature, each fan read the same temperature as the thermostat when first plugged in - aha! The temp sensors do work. So, I followed instructions and disassembled the fans to move the sensors. Wishing to get the most accurate operation possible, I drilled a small hole in the front panel of the fan and threaded the sensor through that. So, my fans now read correct room temperature and the thermostat works well. I just haven't figured out if I'm going to live with the temp sensor on its little wire sticking out the front or if I will try to dress up the appearance somehow. ![]() |
