Others say...

"Loud and heavy"
On the plus side, the brushed stainless steel exterior makes it a breeze to wipe clean and the fact that no heating element is inside the pot itself prevents hard water deposit buildups. On the down side, this is one LOUD kettle. Most kettles get loud only at the boiling point but this thing sounds like an airplane is taking off from your kitchen each time to turn it on ! I also found it to be heavier than average while empty which of course makes it VERY heavy when it's full of water. For the price I guess it does the job if you don't mind the loud noise and the weight.

What our customer's say!

"Russell Hobbs RHJK3063", My wife received this quaint little kettle about 3 years ago.
It has performed flawlessly until recently. Considering we use it on a near bi-hourly basis, I have NO complaints towards this model kettle.
As mentioned in a previous posting the cordless base can be troublesome.
Unlike the kettles that I have used over the years with a removable cord, these new kettles use the cordless kettle with plate design.
The problem is the fingers on the bottom of the kettle itself are not spring loaded very well, and after some time slop occurs and contact with the plates electrode rings become intermittant, requiring some fiddling of the kettle to allow the fingers to contact the base.Use of some non-conductive plastic to help keep the fingers pushed out will correct the problem.
Braun, Cuisinart, and other brands use the same plate design. So be weary if you are worried about the plate design.
As for use, this is a small 1.7 Litre capacity, not the best for use with alot of people.
And being such a small capacity(3-4 cups) there is no need for a level on the outside. If it was a gallon or more then yes.
As for looks, its a simple stainless steel can design with black plastic.
The fluted designs take up more space than warranted. The simple cyndrical shape makes it easier to keep next to other appliances, and helps keep the counter top tidy.

"Homely, and now broken", I received this kettle as a gift and never loved it--the brushed-steel look is not me, and the design is impractical, as well, as there's no way to see whether the kettle is full or boiling unless you open the lid. But I wanted to have an electric kettle for my two annual tea parties, so I did keep and use it.

I used it *only* for these parties, of which I have two every winter. On each occasion, I used this kettle to boil perhaps eight pots of water. And the kettle lasted no more than three winters (possibly two--I don't recall exactly when I got it) before it stopped working. Now the light doesn't come on, and the water doesn't get heated.

So after no more than 48 uses (2 tea parties x 3 years x 8 pots of tea), I have an ugly, dead electric kettle. It was never dropped, immersed, or otherwise mistreated. It simply died. I am therefore very disappointed in this brand and would never buy it again.

"The Fastest Kettle in the West!", Yes, It's noisy, but there is a reason for that! Your water is being heated at a super-fast rate. While not as fast as the UK model (3000w), the US model is still an exeptional kettle. It will heat 1.7 litres to a full hard rolling boil in about a minute. That is FASTER than a microwave. So, if you can put up with the noise (which, by the way, is the sound of the water heating up, NOT the kettle itself), buy this one, and you won't be dissapointed!!

"Great Kettle", I bought mine in January and have enjoyed using it for the last 4 months.

First off, it works great. Second, it looks great with all my stainless and black kitchen appliances.

Someone else says it's heavy ?? It's mostly metal !! Go with plastic if you want super light.

Speed of heating is very good. I'd say I can heat 1 cup faster in the microwave, but most of my tea/coffee cups get very hot in the process. If I'm heating up 2 cups, this kettle is faster than my powerful over-the-range microwave. (I usually keep 3-4 cups of water in it, turn it on just after I wake up and come back a few minutes later.)

Just a bit difficult to place it back over its electrical base. Sometimes it just drops right on top, other times you need to move it around a bit before it slides down.

Noisy is a matter of personal taste. I expect a metal pot to make noise if an electrical coil is heating it quickly. If you want near-silence, use a microwave. No, it doesn't sound like a freight train - sounds like a tea kettle without the whistle.

Enjoy.

"A nice electric Kettle", I bought this kettle to boil water at work for coffee and tea. I was hesitant due to some of the other reviews but I've used it for a couple of weeks now and frankly it is a very nice kettle. It boils water rapidly, has a very fair sized capacity and contrary to other reviews it is very quiet. In fact it is much quieter than the Cusinart kettle I have at home. Not only that it is more convenient than the Cusinart because of the larger opening that makes it possible to boil eggs in the kettle. something I can't do with the Cusinart.

The only complaint I have is that it can be a little touchy getting the kettle on its base. Something that is not a problem with the Cusinart.

I can highly recommend this kettle for those who want a powerful electric kettle.
