"Best pot ever"
pot cooks real well. It realey suprised me I did not think that it would cook as good as it does. the only drawback is there is no cut off switch you have to unplug it to compleately turn it off wich probably makes it real safe. JJ

"westbend slow cooker "
These are the best slow cookers and are very hard to find in a store. I have purchased several for friends and family

"Best slo-cooker Ever!"
I had a 5-qt for over 10 years and LOVED it, but when the non-stick wore down (normal wear), I decided to replace it with a larger 6-qt model. I've made chile and pot roast, and it lives up to it's reputation... I totally love it !!!
I check the heat every few hours, and turn it down if it's boiling, but have had NO problems with any slo-cooker recipes. Very flexible and yummy! Highly recommended!

"Great Crock Type Pot"
Great product, works well, the name fits, it is versatile, and the clean up is very easy.

"Extremely Satisfied"
A great product at a great price. Easy to use. Easy to clean. A must have for busy families who like home cooked meals.

What our customer's say!

"Control Cannot be Trusted", I loved this crockpot when I got it. It was the second one I owned. First one lasted for years. The control on this one goes up on it's own, like another reviewer said. So, you can't go away and leave it, or everything will be cooked on high. I tried putting a spoon under the grooves of the control and blocking the spoon with a heavy plate, but sometimes it slips and if you're not careful, you food will go (on it's own) to high and overcook. West Bend really needs to work on the control switch. I think I'm going to try the West Bend 5 quart model and see if that is made any better.

"Wish it actually cooked", I agree this is technically an attractive piece, presumably quite versatile, however, the primary purpose of a slow cooker should be to cook. This does not. The highest setting after hours barely reached above 200 degrees. My first effort was a "stewed" chicken type of dish. After 6 hours, it was still largely raw. If you read several slow cooker recipe books, it seems the underlying concept of the slow cooker is to surround the food with heat - thus the typical cooker is a crock insert inside of a shell which has electric heating elements surrounding the crock. This gives you a constant surrounding heat. This unit (and I assume others like it) trade this design for versatility. Thus, the heat rises from the bottom (why I assume the "crock" is thin metal - to conduct the heat). I gather from my experience, this just does not work as efficiently as the traditional type. I replaced this with a crock insert unit. I would definitely not recommend this unit.

"A great slow cooker", In our kitchen, this slow cooker performs precisely as advertised. The variable heat control provides some flexibility in cooking time. The features which set the West Bend 84716 Versatility 6-Quart Oval Slo-Cooker apart from others include 1)the nonstick "pot" can be used to brown roasts and cook them in the same vessel, and 2) when you're done cooking, the pot can go in the dishwasher for a no fuss cleanup, or because it is nonstick, it hand washes easily. In all, this is an excellent product-fairly priced and does what it claims.

"West Bend Slo Cooker", Like the non-stick and being able to separate the pot from the heating unit. Makes it much easier to clean than my old one piece "crock" pot.
But the lid is annoying because due to the shape, if you don't place it on exactly right, it falls into what ever you are cooking - yuk.
Water gets behind the handle every time you wash it so you have to unscrew the handle to let it dry - no big deal but thought you might like to know.
Like being able to brown meats in the pot instead of having to dirty a second pot to brown the meats before putting them in the slo cooker.
Really like the variable heat settings. If you shop around, you can probably find one just as good as this one for a lower price.

"Very aptly named. Love the "versatility" of this slow cooker!", I absolutely love this slow cooker. The convenience of browning and cooking in the same pot is really a time and mess saver. I have an older version of this West Bend slow cooker, which also has the griddle and metal pot and is probably at least 15 years old - and, it still works! The griddle is a wonderful feature. West Bend keep up the good work!

"Love it", Nice and big. The oval shape takes up more room in my cupboard, but it helps accommodate different sized roasts.

"perfect crock pot", This is definitely the perfect crock pot. I've had several and this is the only one I've found that you can brown in. I love this feature because most of the time I'm using the crock pot due to lack of time during the day. Also, if you need to get the meal to a boil before simmering, it is much faster to put it on the stove than to wait for the crock to heat. I haven't used it in the oven yet, but I'm sure it would work fine. Great time saver!!!

"Very Convenient Slow Cooker. ", As everyone mentions the real advantage of this slow cooker is that you can brown things on the stove without using an extra pan. But you can also make your gravy in it without using an extra pan (just take your roast & veggies out first!) and you can use the stove to quickly heat your slow cooker to boiling when done with browning. This reduces the chance of bacteria growing while your slow cooker is warming up. I have no complaints. Just remember that this thing is never really "off" unless it is unplugged.

"Great amall appliance for your kitchen!", Having only so much room in the kitchen, I spent time checking into dofferent types of crock pots and slow cookers before deciding upon this one. Great choice! It truly is versatile. It will allow larger cuts of meat
to be cooked. Cooking times have been great. The "Stay Warm" feature is handy when you just want a "standby mode" until dinner is served. Clean up is a breeze thanks to the non-stick coating. This has been a great little investment for cooking meals without a lot of effort!

"Cheaply made", This is the third Versatility Slow Cooker by West Bend that I have purchased over the last 30 years. The advantage to West Bend's Versatility Slow cooker is that you can brown the meat, etc., on the stove and then transfer the pot to the accompanying hot plate. The new cooker does not get hot enough on high to even maintain a slow simmer and the pot is a low quality very thin light metal. I miss the old style terribly. This is definitely not worth the price.
