"Quieter Than Others I Tried"
I bought this model after trying 2 others that were just too loud. This model is pretty quiet, there is a hum but I think my daughter likes the white noise of it. I use filtered or distilled water to cut down on build-up inside the unit. Any humidifier is going to have to be cleaned regularly. Vicks makes several different Cool Mist humidifiers so be careful which one you get because the others I tried were also Vicks and were really loud.

"Pick a different one"
I registered for this and was happy to receive it at my work shower. Until I used it. It is pretty loud, makes the water dirty, the unit itself gets dirty very fast in a forced air heat household (and who's isn't?) and its virtually impossible to clean those little spike thingys on the blower part. The creases on the resevoir get very dirty; the only thing I could stick in there under a paper towel to clean them was my Tupperware orange peeler. My husband noticed that when we first used it, it would blow out the water hardened into some kind of white dust everywhere - I mean clear across our dgtrs room against her bedroom door. I don't wonder if it was some sort of chemical reaction to our hard-er water. Once we started using filtered water, we didn't have that buildup. It is not designed to accept that Vicks vapomist stuff which I found disappointing - winter in the Chicago area w/o it? Plus I have had A LOT A LOT A LOT of trouble finding the replacement filters - grocery stores, Target, other discount chains, nothing. I finally found some at a drug store and was ready to buy them out, but decided to invest in a different model next winter.

"don't get it"
We got this as a gift & used it.....its loud and spits out water. We're not happy with it.

"We like it!!!!"
Despite reading all the negative reviews about this product, I registered for it anyway and I am so happy that I did! This is one of the most used gifts that I received after having my son. I use it every night in the nursery. My son has eczema and his doctor recommended I use a cool mist humidifier in his room at night to keep the air moist. I keep a towel under it and have had no problem with dampness. My husband and I have decided to purchase this same humidifier for another room in our home.......

"Ok, not great"
The water gets really dirty, and it is loud. Wouldn't really recommend it.

What our customer's say!

"Too Loud", I purchased this product for use in the nursery. It makes a terrible vibration that is very loud. After buying the first unit, it stopped working after about a month. I had emptied the water and let it dry out everyday and cleaned it weekly. The company let me return it with no receipt, so that was no hassle. I believe that they sent me a reconditioned unit which was extremely LOUD with this horrible vibration. We tried everything to get it to stop. It made both me, my son and my husband very grouchy! Finally, it stopped working the other day. I am fed up with it and am throwing it in the trash, Finally!

"Terrible Product", After about a month, it started producing cool-mist that smelled funny, like something bad had rotted in the room. The filters are a nuisance. I think I'm much better off with a steam vaporizer.

"This old lady likes it", I'm on my second winter with this humidifier and find it in many ways superior to others we have owned in our 43 years together, living in many different parts of the country.

Yes, you can clean it and store it dry offseason; the last one before this I never could get totally dry.

Yes, it's a nuisance having to plug it in and unplug it, and pay attention to the reservoir level when out of the room.

My biggest problem is that I've been looking for a supply of replacement filters, and I'm too sick to go shopping in stores and trying to tell others what I want...

So here I am online looking for replacement filters. What a drag!

"It Broke!!", I was so excited about this product. I love simple appliances and this one fit the bill. However the filters were impossible to find and the whole thing stopped working after a month of use! Don't buy this product. Spend the extra money and get a better humidifier!

"Bad product", I'm really upset with this item. I registered for it and when I got it the thing didn't work. I called the 800 number trying to see if I did everything right but couldn't get a live person on the phone. I went and exchange the item and the second one didn't work. Horrible Horrible product and business.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"don't buy this product!!!", We bought this humidifier as the low-cost alternative when our kids were sick this week. It's horrible! We're returning it today! When this unit is running, it leaks water between the reservoir and motor units. Overnight it leaked enough water to completely saturate a folded up large bath towel I placed under it! Two days later & the towel is still wet! Additionally, the unit is noisy, spits out water droplets with the mist, and is very difficult to clean (oddly shaped water reservoir makes it impossible to completely empty the unit). If you need a humidifier, buy a different product!

"Extremely noisy and messy", We live in Maine, the air is very cold and bone-sucking dry. My older son has a Robitussin cool mist in his room, and except for trouble finding filter replacements, I've been pretty happy with it. I purchased the Vick (Kaz) HealthMist, knowing Vicks is a trusted name in the cold industry...

This is the worst humidifier I've owned. It's extremely noisy, it gurgles and the blue motor casing does not snugly or securely fit into the top - it simply sits there - and when the motor runs, it vibrates incessantly. I had to put a 5 pound bucket of spackle on the casing to keep it running more quietly. Now even that is beginning to fail. As I type, I can hear the unit gurgling, and it spits water droplets, not steam out of the front, and out from between the blue casing and the white base (because there is no secure attachment and the vibration, the water is shaking out of the unit. The stand it sits on is perpetually soaked as is the carpet around the bottom of the base. Now I have to deal with cleaning and drying the carpet to prevent mold from growing. The unit also needs to be filled 2-3 times a day if you have it running most of the time.

It is a waste of energy and its performance is a disappointment.

"Terrible product!", My husband and I just purchased this unit for our soon-to-be baby's room. We decided to "try it out" in our room first. I'm glad we did, I hate the product!
1. Operation is very noisy-this is sure to keep us and baby up at night.
2. No on/off switch, you have to plug in and unplug each day.
3. Where's the mist?? There is no visible mist generated, doesn't even FEEL like anything is coming out.
4. Skin is still dry, throat dry....simply does not work.

So, after 5 days of trial use we are returning to the store.

"Wouldn't Recommend It", I received this humidifier as a shower gift. My husband opened up the package only to find that it was broken. So, we took it back to Target to get another one. It worked okay for a few weeks (we did have problems with a little bit of mold growing in it)but then we went to refill it one day and the darn thing was broken in the same spot the one we had returned was. BTW, when it's broken it makes a terrible noise. It's a very cheap humidifier and the plastic parts don't hold up very well at all. I wouldn't waste my money on this one.

"No Complaints", We have been using this product and have had no problems whatsoever with it. It is extremely easy to refill (you can pour water in from a pitcher without even removing the top) and it was smartly built to 'catch' any water that accumulates on the vent. It definitely puts out mist - we put a hydrometer in our daughter's room and the humidity level went up over 10%, and it is really, really dry here right now. I recently had a cold and slept near it and it made a huge difference. For people that complain about the mineral build-up: if you read your manual you would see that they warn you that might happen if you have hard water. As for mildew, take the lid off and let it dry up good before you pack it away. No different than bath toys, etc.
