"Love this vacuum"
Based on some others' negative views, I don't think it's noisy and it does a great job. I did not find dirt flying around. I use it for small jobs. For example, powdered laundry detergent spilled. Took me a couple of minutes to clean it up. I love it for small jobs. Saves me from pulling my central vacuum hose (slinky) and hooking it up for a small job. I have not cleaned it yet so I can not comment. The one con is it is heavy but it has a shoulder strap to help and it works with me.

"Not So Silent... but very smooth"
I really have to tell you that there are just so many concept vacumms out right now. There are just some that are made with the mind of a robot, some of them that are just bulky to carry around, and there are a few sweepers that have much more power than a traditional feel. I always seem to find different vacuums that all seem the same. However, I checked out Euro-Pro and their Shark models. They really seem to do so well that it is just unpredictable. Yet, I've seen all different kinds of models including their transparent vac, but it always has to be the not so silent holders that hit the nail on the head.

Euro-Pro Silent Super Shark, is a very simple compact vacuum that is a quieter vacuum in sound, but has a lot of impact that other vacuums don't seem to have. The look is almost like a miniature canister, but the power goes much deeper and broader than classic uprights. The vacuums also is very convient to carry around, and picks up a lot of dirt, debris and other kinds of messes. The strength is amazing, but it can be a little complex at times carrying this vacuum around, while cleaning with it. The cleanup is also simple, with a strong and easy cleanable hepa filter.

All in all, the Silent Super Shark is really a very simple vacuum, at a affordable price. While many would consider a upright, because you don't have to empty it as often as this one, this one is a lot more convient to carry around. I honestly recommend this one, especially for people who can't lift anything very heavy like me.

"Great for travel"
I initally purchased this little Shark to clean my four flights of carpeted stairs. During one of my many trips from Virginia to NY I decided to take my Shark with me and it worked out great. Now after a long drive or after a little spill in the van I just clean it up with my vacuum. My favorite feature is the rotating brush attachment. It picks up the typical dirt from kids and it's easy to clean. The other attachments work great in small areas and in automobiles. If you remember that it's great for small areas and you will be happy with your purchase.

"Kitty Litter Busted!"
With two cats and two cat boxes and vigorous use of said cat boxes, we have a cat litter tracking problem as yet unconquered by litter mats. The litter we use is sort of heavy, and our other vac wouldn't pick it up very well, but this thing sucks it -- and any other debris in the way -- right up. I LOVE it. It's not as loud as you might think, and yes, it does get a bit warm. However, it also does a number on catfur stuck on your couch or drapes, rocks at getting rid of dust bunnies, lint, whatever. Throw your puny dustbuster out! Get a Shark!!

"The Shark sucks!"
Please take this review seriously:
This company has extremely poor customer service and I would never purchase a shark product again, nor recommend Euro Pro products to anyone.
Following the manufacturer directions for charging and recharging, the internal battery in my vacuum lasted only about one year.
I called and spoke to a telephone representative to order a replacement battery pack on May 24, 2004, as the website does not have a comprehensive list of products.
When the battery finally arrived three months later in August, I found IT WAS THE WRONG SIZE. The company sent the wrong item.
It is very difficult to contact the Euro Pro company so I sent two letters about my part with NO RESPONSE. When I finally got through on the phone, I was told the correct replacement would ship soon.
It is now November and I have been waiting 6 months, and am still unable to use my vacuum. My credit card has been charged and I have not received the part I need. Icing on the cake: Last week I recieved a postcard stating "due to the large response, the item you requested is temporarily out of stock". Who knows when I will get this part!

Euro-Pro EP88SS Silent Super Shark Turbo Handheld Vacuum with Intelli-Sense

List Price : $89.99
Our Price : too low to display

Why I buy this one ?
- Powerful 1000-watt motor
- True HEPA filter traps 99.97 percent of irritants as small as 0.3 microns
- Convenient dust cup is washable and easy to empty
- Includes turbo brush, hose, extension tube, upholstery brush, and crevice tool
- Body measures 13 by 8 by 5-1/2 inches

What our customer's say!

"Alas! pricey, obsolete filters", Unlike other customers, I find this EP88SS a great buster of dust in an urban studio apartment. It picks up lint and dust well, paint chips in window sills etc. The problem is, the so-called hepa-perfect, anti-allergy filter is priced at $13 and you really need to breathe in plenty of dust to keep the filter clean after each use to get a longer life out of it. And now that the PRODUCT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED!!!!!, where does that leave all of us who bought it? Searching for filters priced at $13 and rising, plus shipping? Hopefully a disposable cloth filter alternative will be more readily available. Don't count on it.

"Great vacuum with shop vac like power", I bought this locally on sale and I must say i was impressed. Right when I opened the box and turned it on the sound coming out of the motor shows you how powerful it is.

I bought it to keep in my car and clean it without hauling out a shop-vac and be held down by cords or the shop-vac hitting the side of the car.

It cleans car carpets and seats with ease. The construction of the unit is quite good, does not feel cheap like other small hand vacuums. The cord has lots of length without needing to pull an extension cord around with you.

Although there is some cons like not having a carrying case which makes putting this back into the box after use a little bit of a pain. Also it should have came with a car adapter so you could use it anywhere anytime. I would recommend it to anyone looking for something like a boat, car, truck or motor home.

"Great so far!", I shopped a long time for this handheld vacuum. I wanted something with power (a wall plug-in, that didn't need to be charged) and something that was quiet. So far this vac delivered everything I wanted. I work in a large open office area; the vac could be run while people were working and even talking and was not disturbing. It picks things up quickly and quietly and it is powerful too. I highly recommend it. The only thing is that it does get warm. The shoulder strap is helpful because it is a little awkward, but all of the attachments it comes with are very useful. It worked well to get dust bunnies and hard to get crumbs out of keyboards, plus paper shreds, and small rocks.

"Why didn't I buy the Dirt Devil?", I bought this item and was satisfied with it for the first 100 days or so until it completely stopped working. Euro Pro support is HORRIBLE. It took them 6 weeks from the date I called them to send me a new adapter; my unit still did not work with the new adapter. Then they told me they could fix it, but would charge me shipping and handling both ways. I am just going to throw it out and buy the Dirt Devil I should have bought in the first place. I had one that I bought used and worked for years.

"decent but not up to expectations", Compared to other handheld cordless vacs, it is very good.
However, the Shark's claim of being powerful and quiet is highly exaggerated. The vac worked fine for the first few months, but the motor seemed to lose a little power and after a year of use the suction power was mediocre at best. You will need to empty the bag constantly and keep it fully charged for it to perform well.
Also the round shape of the vac is a major design flaw, the "snout" of the vac is so broad and blunt with the opening of the vacuum so small it was hard to get into corners unless you use an attachment.
The charger is also another design flaw, it is often hard to dock the vacuum in it and doesn't fit so well.
It is also noisy, it's not terribly loud, but it produces an annoying whiney higher pitched sound.
Generally, cordless vacs are not the greatest in terms of performance and longevity, but if you must get one and don't have much to spend than I could recommend this vac half heartedly.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Great Suction!", I purchased the super shark recently and must say I was thrilled with its performance. I bought it to help clean up around the house with the dog hair and light dirt around the entry way but I have to say that I now use it all the time rather than dragging out the big vac. I used to have dog hair all over the couch and upholstery but this little vac is amazingly powerful and can grab that hair and get rid of it so easily! I am very pleased with my purchase. This is my first shark product, I am so happy with it ~ what a pleasure to buy something that not only meets your expectations but is even better! I will look for more shark products

"Powerful and Convenient, makes cordless vacs ashamed", I've had my Shark for about 6 months, and I find myself using it more and more. I use it on all the small jobs that I hated to tackle with a cordless vac (my Dustbuster never held a charge long enough to do much good, and had feeble suction). I also use my Shark on many jobs I used to do with my big cannister vaccuum cleaner. The Shark is very powerful, not too heavy, and has a wonderful loooong cord. I love it for vaccuuming the stairs! The plastic exterior of the Shark is also very sturdy, I don't worry about it cracking or getting damaged by rough use.
I also like all the attachments, including a turbo cleaner that spins with the suction.

My only complaint about the Shark is the dust filter. Although the advertising says it's easy to clean, I don't agree. I can tap out most of the dirt and larger chunks, but dust bunnies and pet hair get trapped in the fibers of the accordian folds. I have to pick it out manually. I tried washing it once and still had to pick out wet dust bunnies by hand. But, don't let this small detail keep you from enjoying a great appliance. I couldn't get rid of my Dustbuster fast enough.....

Edited 9/07 to add: In frustration I began whacking the filter on the railing of my back deck, and was pleased to see all the dust and dirt come out. It doesn't appear to harm the filter, being a little harder on it. The plastic housing on the filter is sturdy, and I'm still using the original filter.

"Excellent for Small tasks", I am only writing this review because this is one of those few vacuums that after 9 months and original filter it still works like new. This is an incredibly powerful little machine. Because of its portability it is perfect for car, garage, attic and small hard to reach areas, like kitchen cabinets, etc. This is a great addition to your upright vacuum. It is superb for small tasks. Picks up pet hair from furniture with brush attachment.
It has a washable mesh cup that captures large particles and fits over the cup shaped HEPA filter. The HEPA filter captures the dust and mites :). To get to the filters and to empty the vacuum you have to open it. It is quite messy if you aren't careful or don't empty it on top of a trashcan.
Overall the product is very good. I've used it at least 3-4 times a week for 9 months to rid small areas of plush carpet from dirt, sand, food crumbs and from dog hair on hardwoods. Can overheat if you use it for more than 15 minutes straight, as the motor is pretty powerful. If you turn on and off then it does well for longer periods of time (I took my toddler to the beach and he brought buckets of sand in to my fully carpeted car. The vacuum picked up all the sand and dirt and rocks. Even caked on mud. Only negative comment about it is that you have to keep the body of the vacuum close by, to clean floors, you have to get down or bend over and that can be uncomfortable if you don't have a healthy back. It was a little tiresome for me to use when I was expecting a child.
Positives.
· It is long lasting and easy to care for.
· It is portable and long electric cord.
· Vacuum has a powerful motor, strong suction.
· Wide hose won't get clogged.
Negatives:
· I am having a little trouble finding a replacement HEPA filter cup for it.
· A little hard to manage when cleaning floors (CAUTION: Injured back, pregnant, weak)

"The Powerfull Little Vacuum That Delivers", I purchased my Shark vacuum at Sears and was so impressed that I wanted to come here on Amazon at write a review on it. I own three dogs who love to ride in the car with me and the pet hair becomes quite a problem. Using my Rainbow canister and hose with suction alone really didn't pick up the dog hair, unless I went over and over and over the upholstery until I worked the hair lose from the fabric; what a pain it was; but with the Shark with the use of the suction driven turbo head, the dirt and pet hair came right up. don't confuse this with other car vacuums. This unit really has a lot of suction to it and claims to have 1 1/2 times the suction of a your household upright, a claim I dont doubt.

The Shark comes with a 1000 watt 8.3 amp motor, convertible brush, a bristle brush for the convertible brush, crevice tool, hose, air driven turbo brush, 3 extension tubes, floor brush, and a shoulder strap. Also your cleaning tools such as the upholster brush crevis tool etc, that will fit a canister vacuum will fit on the shark too. The motor has an Intelli-Sense filter monitor (a light which lights up on the motor) which electronically senses when the cup needs to be emptied or when the filter needs to be cleaned or replaced. The debris screen, HEPA filter and pre-motor filter and all can be rinsed off with tap water.

The only complain I had was with the the curved hose; using it with the turbo head on the curved floor of of my Mustand was a chore getting the right angle. It would be easier if the hose was str8. The Shark will come in real handy on carpeted stairs; have you tried to do stairs with an upright or the powerhead from a canister? Looks pretty silly. The shark with its turbohead ( it measures only 6" wide) is perfect for chairs, sofa's and those little jobs; because of its size, I don't think it would be practicable to vacuum a whole house; maybe more suited for an RV.

As a pet owner I'm real please with my shark and all it does and all the uses I find for it. I hope this review was usefull to you and thanks for your time.

"Absolutely FABULOUS", The difference between my old dirt devil handvac and the Silent Super Shark is almost unbelievable. I can't tell you how much I love this machine. It is so powerful and convenient I use my floor vacuum very little now. They are not kidding when they say it has 1.5 times the suction force of a regular floor vac. The 'silent' part is better than advertised, it's probably half as noisy as any other vacuum on the market. It's also very hard to clog the Shark, and handles any type of dust, dirt, or morsel with aplomb. Also, the turbo brush spins like a jet engine and is remarkable how well it works. I RECOMMEND this vacuum to ANYONE, don't buy anything else because I don't think there's a better model out there.
