"o stars if possible", I have spent more time unclogging the hose than vacuuming. How can a company that has been making vacuums for years offer a product that clogs during every use, turns itself off from overheating within 10 minutes of use, and has poor suction? The Boss of nuisance.

"Just Okay", I bought this a year ago and have never really been that happy with the performance. It doesn't suck very well and you have to take the whole thing apart to unblock a blockage which happens quite often. Finaly last week to my morbid relif if gave up on me. So I got to buy a new vacuum and and very happy with it.

"Disposable", I think my dad picked up a couple of these for under $40 at some hardware superstore in my area. He gave me one which I smashed to pieces in a fit of rage after it clogged for the umpteenth time and just ended up making my mess worse. You might say, "Hey, for 40 bucks, what do you expect?" You know, I don't expect much, but I expect a product that works if someone is selling it. Having smashed on of these to bits and having ripped into it a number of times, I've seen that the design is, itself, tragically flawed. The pipe that is, in theory, supposed to move dirt and debris from the hose into the collection bag has a sharp 90 degree turn in it. So this tiny tube, about 1.5" in diameter, takes a very, very sharp turn where just about anything can get stuck. I had a small piece of plastic in there once that then created a giant jam and a subsequent giant mess.

After I smashed my old vac and spent some time trying to find a nice used Rainbow, Orec, or someother brand known for its longevity, my dad pawned his other TheBoss off on me. At the time, I didn't have enough spare cash lying around to justify turning away a free vac, but the thing just clogged again. I hate it so much. I'm tempted to haul it out and throw it in the dumpster right this second and go find a nice, pricey machine that I'll never be tempted to destroy.

I'm serious. I see that this vac isn't listed for sale here anymore, but it's just not worth taking for free.

Not kidding, not being hyperbolic. Avoid this heap. I'm tempted to advise anyone who sees one in the wild to destroy it beyond repair just to save others from the horror that this poorly designed, cheap junk will inevitably unleash.

If you like digging through piles of backed up carpet, dust, hair, bits of chips, sand, and other stuff that you find in a vacuum (Oh, dust mites, too) then this is the vac for you!

"Ho-Hum... OKAY VACUUM, ", This vacuum works fine in most cases, but it does clog easily and that is a pain to deal with.

"it's not that bad", it's interesting to see the completely opposite reviews here. we've had this vaccum for almost 3 years and it works fine. Not fabulous but as dutiful as any other house vacuums i've used. It does a good job in my living room (carpet) and kitch (hard floor), and it also picks up spilled sand from my cat's litter box quite well. I doubt if the people complaining it won't pick up popcorn kernel actually had it powered on...

"Eureka the Boss...........DO NOT BUY IT!", I bought this vacuum july 19, 2003. It went to the dump on October 25, 2003. The vacuum is built poorly, the parts keep breaking. When the roller broke, that was the end......threw it away and bought a bissel.

"NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! WORST VACUUM I'VE EVER OWNED!!", I purchased this vacuum a few months back, and I absolutely hate it!!!

It has very little suction...it wouldn't even pick up popcorn kernals!!! The hose is constantly getting clogged, and it spits half of what you go over out the back end!!!

If you truly want to clean your carpets, BUY SOMETHING ELSE!!
If I could give this vacuum 0 stars I would!!!!!

"Fabulous Buy!", Having always owned two rather pricey Hoover Wind Tunnel vacuum cleaners that cost over $150 each (that consistently seemed to break after about 2-3 years) I thought I'd try this Eureka this time. It had good reviews from others on Amazon and it was priced very well. I thought I'd try something moderately priced since spending more up to now on vacuums didn't seem to mean I was getting better quality. I was so pleasantly surprised as this Eureka was so easy to assemble, the vacuum cleaner bag was even already installed!, and the cord for the attachments is much sturdier and more flexible than the more expensive vacuums I've owned. I have pets and it takes care of cleaning up the pet hair perfectly. It's very quiet (again compared to the Hoover especially) and powerful. One of my favorite features is that it is 15" wide which is wider than most vacuum cleaners so it makes it even quicker to vacuum a wide area. That is a fabulous feature for any vacuum to have I've discovered. I just love it and wanted to recommend it highly to anyone looking for a vacuum. Knowing how well this works I would have paid much more but am glad I was able to save money and get a quality product at the same time.

"Great attachments!", An enjoyable vacuum. This is a powerful vacuum with very handy attachments. Straightforward assembly; works great to dust as well as vacuum carpets. There's no specific 'bare-floor' setting, but the crevice & wand attachments work well to suck up dust in corners. I'm looking forward to using the roller-brush on the stairs.

"Great vacuum!!", Wow- this a great vacuum, it picks up everything-even cat & dog hair which most vacuums won't!! I definitely got my money's worth with this purchase!!
