"My First Serger and I Love It!"
This is my first serger and I have to say I love it. It came threaded so I could use it right away. I do have to admit that the instructions could be more clear. It was not easy to learn how to thread it but it is easy now that I understand. Like I said, the instructions and diagrams are hard to follow. I also do worry about replacement pieces. But overall I am very pleased with this serger and I use it almost daily.

"NOVICE TO SERGERS"
I JUST GOT MY EURO PRO SERGER FROM HSN, BIG MISTAKE. I WENT ONTO THE AMAZON.COM SITE TO LOOK FOR A BOOK AND THOUGHT I WOULD LOOK AT THE INFO ON THE SERGER I JUST BOUGHT. I WAS VERY INTERESTED IN THE REVIEWS. THERE IS NO MODEL NUMBER ON THIS SERGER SO I DO NOT KNOW WHAT MODEL IT IS. IT JUST SAYS EURO PRO. I THINK IT IS THE SAME ONE THAT TARGET HAS ON THE WEB FOR 249.00 AND I PAID 289.00 PLUS 36.00 SHIPPING PLUS 27.95 FOR THE FEET, (WHICH I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED) SO FAR THE EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD USING THE MACHINE HAS BEEN GOOD. THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE INADEQUATE TO SAY THE LEAST. I HAVE LOOKED EVERYWHERE ON THE BOOK FOR ANY NUMBERS OR ACRONYMS THAY WOULD IDENTIFY THE MODEL AND NOTHING... THERE ARE MANY STEPS AND OPTIONS THAT I HAVE YET TO MASTER AND THE BOOK THAT CAME WITH IT IS JUST A GUIDE. IN NO WAY IS IT INSTRUCTIONAL. I WILL HAVE TO TAKE TIME TO FIGURE IT OUT AS I GO. THE MACHINE HAS A LITTLE PIECE ON THE SIDE OF THE PART THAT COMES OFF TO MAKE IT A FREE ARM WHICH WAS BROKEN AND WILL NOT STAY ON, BUT AS BEST I CAN TELL IT IS JUST ASTHETIC NOT OPERATIONAL. I SEE THAT SATISFACTION ON THIS ITEM IS ABOUT 50-50. I HAVE LOOKED AT A LOT OF DIFFERENT MACHINES FROM THE CHEAP TO THE UNAFFORDABLE AND TRUSTED HSN THAT THE RETAIL OF THE EURO PRO OF APPROXIMATELY $700.00 SELLING PRICE $289.00+ WAS A GOOD DEAL. SHOULD HAVE WAITED..DEBATING ON WHETHER TO RETURN OR KEEP IT. IN ONE OF THE REVIEWS I SEE THE BLADES ARE DIFFICULT TO FIND AND ANOTHER IS VERY DISPLEASED WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE,(OR LACK OF). I AM GOING TO CALL EURO PRO CUSTOMER SERVICE TOMORROW AND IF I HAVE DIFFICULTY GETTING ASSISTANCE, THAT WILL BE THE DETERMINING FACTOR FOR ME AND I WILL RETURN IT TO HSN AND THAT WILL SURELY BE MY LAST PURCHASE WITH THEM. THANKS FOR THE INPUT FROM BOTH SIDES.

"NO opinion on the serger as of yet...."
... because it arrived broken. Whoever assembled it managed to torque the screws on the thread guide bar so tight that the rather flimsy spool stand attachment cracked. This may be a better 'live' purchase, I wouldn't advise buying this online.

"Good Workhorse of a Serger"
This is actually the first serger I have ever owned. I have to admit I was initially afraid to operate a serger because they looked very complicated, but when I started a business designing and selling dog clothes, I had to bite the bullet, get one and learn. It was much easier than I could have ever imagined. The machine came already threaded with 4 different colored thread cones and ready to sew. The 4 colors made it easy to see just where the threads traveled from spool to fabric. Very cool education if you're new to serging. Of course, I had to learn to thread it right away, and was very pleased that besides good written instructions and pictures, there are colored diagrams and dots to follow in the machine which make it fairly easy. The included feet pop on and off with the push of a button and are a godsend, as I use a good amount of piping on some of my designs. I have a second EP serger, a different model, which didn't come with the feet, and that was a disappointment (although I was able to order them separately later). The stitching is consistent and the machine is pretty simple to use. I definitely recommend this machine to anyone who wants to get into serging, but without spending a fortune.

"Easy to use - easy to thread"
I know sergers are known for being hard to thread...but this one is easy. The threading guide is on the machine. Each hook is color coded. I tie my new thread onto the old to feed through the loops at the top of the machine, but hand feed the rest. It is important with any serger to go in the correct order (needle threads last) - and the color guide on the machine lists the order. The automatic lower looper works very well - but I find it works best if I open all of the doors and watch the thread hook onto the looper as I push the lever. I've had this serger two months and have changed thread color six times - the first thing I did was change the thread (to make sure I could.) I've been serging like crazy. I wonder how I lived this long with out one!

What our customer's say!

"As in prior reviews, mine arrived broken :(", As in prior reviews, my serger also arrived broken. The thread stand was screwed on too tight and snapped off during shipment. Still waiting for a replacement which is being sent using the same slow DHL to USPS method. Will hopefully arrive in one piece. Will amend this review if I ever receive a working product. :p

"Great product", I received mine two weeks ago and thoroughly enjoy it. It is tricky to thread but any serger is. The manual is great if you read it step by step and test before you sew anything. One thread not quite where it is supposed and your sewing will not go well. Read the manual.

I think as with anything else, practice makes perfect. I bought this because I needed something inexpensive and it was the same brand as the sewing machine I have which is a little workhorse and does denim.

I'm not sure what support is going to be like but I anticipate that I'll probably want it serviced/maintained locally and to find parts not directly from the manufacturer. We'll see in time how it will work out. So far so good. The price to value ratio is definitely high with the number of feet included. I'm glad Amazon is carrying this product.

This has a differential feed which I'm still playing with but can definitely see will be a total bonus in everything I make.

It is so quiet, I love it.

"Euro-pro 534DX -- expensive parts", Overall I have been happy with the performance of this machine. However, just recently my daughter broke the plate under the foot. There's a small, very thin piece of metal on the plate on which the thread rides. She tried to sew some heavy material, blue jean fabric, and the combination of the material and (probably) her pulling, bent the metal piece. I called for a replacement part -- the part was $49.95 plus $10.00 shipping!! I'm going to keep watching ebay for a used machine to buy to use for replacement parts.

"This is my 1st Serger----Oh My", It has taken me 1 week to see the in & outs of serging. Now to replace the needles.I have been working on this all morning. If I get one in the other want go. If I take one out the other will go in. These are the ones that came with the serger. Now I have lost 2 i/2 hrs on this. I am wondering if the needles are bad. Not a good thing for a new kid on the block. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day. Lady De

"Inquiring re a replacement part", Great machine!
Looking for a replacement part for the small needle plate that attaches to the larger plate. The small plate is the one with 2 prongs.
I live in Ontario approx. 1 1/2 hours north of Toronto.
Do you have a supplier for parts in this area?
Info would be appreciated

"Great Deal", This is an excellent serger with many advanced features. It is well made and the warranty is unbeatable. I found it with the 6 extra feet and no taxes or shipping (298.00 out the door) from sewinginusa.com. The best price with all the extras.

"No support for Euro-Pro Serger Model 534DX", the problem starts with The manual for the Euro-Pro serger Model 534DX, from it, no one can understand how to thread the BOTTOM LOOPERS.

The manual was written by someone other than English speaking as obvious by the paragraph titled "How to use the Lower Looper Automatic Threader (For certain type only)".

The diagrams for the Automatic threader do not continue from the previous diagrams for the lower loopers.

Their manual offers 24 hour support, but the 800 telephone number (800-798-7398) goes straight to India, where a man tells you he can't answer your question, his English barely understandable.

He also gave me another 800 number(800-361-4639), that only gives you a busy tone.

Also part of their telephone support machine tells you go visit their Web site, but is so incoherent that I had to search the Internet to get the correct spelling.

then to add insult to injury, their Web site only deals with Vacuum Cleaners, not sergers. I wonder why??

I also called HSN, where I purchased the serger, and their Customer Service person could only help me by giving me a non 800 telephone number (517-842-8691), where "people who cant get through on the 800 number have better luck getting through".
Unfortunately, there is no such number.

So with 5 xmas gifts to sew and no answer for ONE LITTLE QUESTION, "HOW DO YOU THREAD THE BOTTOM LOOPERS CORRECTLY"?
and one expensive paper weight serger, I rate it as useless!!!!!!!!!!!!

"I love mine!", I've had mine for over two years now and haven't had a single problem with it. I use it weekly at least. It replaced a Singer serger that worked briefly but wasn't good for anything except for taking back to the store several times in hopes of getting one that might work. My only complaint about it is that I wanted a five thread model like my last serger and the Euro Pro is only a four thread model. Otherwise it has been a flawless performer under heavy use. The differential feed has been great to have as well and it does a decent rolled hem too. (I make medieval costumes and also quilts.) Don't buy a machine without a differential feed! It also came with a bonus set of six extra feet, such as a beading foot, an elastic foot, and a blind hem foot too. It's gotten so that I use my serger more now for what used to be regular sewing than ever before.. hems go SO fast on it. I've never had a problem getting needles or blades for it, even with heavy use I haven't had to change the blades more than 3-4 times, if that.

"who, what is euro-pro serger", I love the machine, but the only problem I have is when it was time for replacements blades, no has heard of the machine. Euro-pro do not give enough information on replacement parts or numbers in their instruction manuals. In addition they do not offer any type of information to what type of blades they are compatable with. This would help ever so much, if replacement parts could be easier to fine.
