I WISH I had read the reviews for this vacuum! Everyone is ABSOLUTELY correct when they say that the power cuts out on this vacuum!

Also, yes, it DOES have terrific suction... at first! After owning my fantom for a few months I noticed that as soon as the canister was filled a 1/4 of the way I lost all suction on my attachments. This is so frustrating since I have two cats that shed like crazy... and stairs. Cleaning the stairs was an excercise in patience.

Finally, the power just started shutting on and off. Since I hadn't read these reviews I blamed my roommate and we got into a big fight.

Just as I was about to take the thing to be fixed the wheel fell off. Nice.

Crappy suction that worsens over time.
HATE the way the canister empties. It's some stupid twist crank thing that spits cat hair all over my floor.
Faulty electric connection that apparently is VERY common.
The tool clamps are SO flimsy! My tools always fell off. Always. Very frustrating.
After six months the vacuum started making this really weird loud rattling sound. I have heard others complain about this in their reviews... and yes. I DID also blame the roomie for this one too.

For all of you, that like me, believe that I had these problems due to my own vacuuming habits, such as dropping the vacuum and running things over, all I have to say is NO. The vacuum I had right before this one has attachments that ALWAYS stay in place, and I owned it for 13 years. In fact, it's still running. I gave it to my friend who needed one, and let me say, BOY was that a mistake! I wish I still had that vacuum!

Please, do yourself a $200 favor and buy another vacuum.


"Fantom Flop"
I purchased an FM760 in December of 2003. When it arrived, I used it and could not believe the great job it did at vacuuming up all the cat hair (we have 4) I was in love. I used this vacuum for 10 months and then it started shutting off automatically when pulling back on the handle when vacuuming. I contacted Euro-pro and they said ship it back and the will fix it. I paid the $20 there and the $20 back. It took 8 weeks for them to get it back to me and it came back in worse shape than when I sent it to them, but the problem was fixed. (2004)Unfortunately, they never put down what the problem was or what kind of warranty the newly fixed problem had. Here it is 8 months later and am experiencing the same exact problem. (I love this vacuum cleaner, never had one that cleaned so well and with the handle detaching for easy reach to the ceiling, it makes it wonderful)but cannot vacuum with something that the power keeps cutting on and off with. Makes it real frustrating. It could be they just had a bunch of bad parts for that particular model and maybe have fixed them by now.

"Getting Up Dirt the Others Left"
Our Fantom arrived three months ago, and I couldn't be more pleased!

Yes, the vacuum is heavy, but it is also bagless (a huge advantage when you live in a town where vacuum bags are not easily available) and effective. And I find the weight of this machine causes me to move more slowly and do a thorough job.

I was amazed at the dirt brought up by this vacuum. And, I find it easy to empty the canister and clean the filter -- it does just what it promises. I highly recommend this vacuum.

"this product sucks"
i bought this vac in hopes it would work better then the other store models. i should have stuck to a wal-mart brand. At 180.00 you think a vac would last alot longer then a few months, i didn't know that europro makes disposable item like this, but i do now and will NEVER buy another europro item again.

I had to buy 2 of these vacuums in the past 1 1/2 years because of the poor quality. The first one literally sparked, flamed and burned itself out after 1 year and 1 month of use. Prior to that, the belt broke 3 times and the little plastic piece that kept the roller brush from spinning kept falling out. I bought another 4 months ago, because I figured that maybe I just had a "lemon". Yesterday, the vacuum just surged and stopped working. Of course, that was after the little plastic piece that kept the brush roller from spinning fell out of this one too. These vacuums are pieces of junk, JUNK. I spent $400 in the past 1 1/2 years on them and still don't have a vacuum.
