Others say...
"Quieter but messy" After reading reviews on Amazon, I decided to significantly upgrade our coffee grinder to this one from a Cuisinart. Love the fact that this grinder doesn't set our teeth on edge from high-pitched whine like our other grinder, and it does a very good job grinding our beans. I'm surprised that I need to clean ground coffee off our counter every morning, though. No one else mentioned this problem that I remember. A small leak lets grinds out where the bin meets the grinder during grinding. That, combined with the static from the plastic means a wet paper towel clean-up every time we grind. Annoying from a grinder that costs this much. "so so" the how many cups dial does not grind enough beans for my liking. flavor is weak unless i add to the actual cups being brewed. unit dosen't start all the time you have to play with the timer. i don't see a big improvement from the old blade grinder. it is convient that it holds alot of beans. i could take it or leave it. wouldn't buy another one "It's awesome." My old "spinning blade" coffee grinder finally bit the dust after five years of daily usage. I did some research about burr grinders and this turned out to be the only reasonably priced one that had unanimously favorable reviews. The price was a bit more than I'd wanted to spend, but it's big, heavy and sturdy -- and Bunn still builds their products in the US, all of which made it more palatable. I have an old Bunn-O-Matic coffee maker and these two products make a great team. When I first received it, the grinder made unacceptably large coffee grounds, even when set to the finest grind setting. I emailed Bunn and they wrote back the next day with a remedy. Most likely it had been knocked out of adjustment in shipping. After tweaking the adjustment screw everything has been great. The grind is very fine. Probably the biggest appeal to me about this one was the bean hopper. You just buy a whole bag of beans and dump it in the grinder. You don't have to measure out the right amount of beans every morning, which is nice. With the old one I always spilled a few and it's a pain cleaning them up when you're not awake/caffeinated. With the Bunn you just set the dial to the amount you want and then dump the grounds into the coffee filter. The grounds container has a rubber lip at the top to prevent stray grounds from getting on your countertop. It works pretty well, with a lot less mess than a blade-type grinder. I've found the best deal on whole-bean coffee to be at Whole Foods, surprisingly enough. You can get a pound and a half of "Pleasant Morning Buzz" for ten bucks... "You Just Can't Beat a Bunn!" I just received my Bunn Home Grinder from Amazon a couple of days ago. The package arrived very quickly after ordering, much quicker than expected! Kudos to Amazon shipping! As for the grinder itself, I have no complaints. I read several reviews before buying this model, and considered other brands. I am glad I chose Bunn. This machine is built to last, and the workmanship shows. The grinder is easy to load, easy to unload to a coffee maker, and easy to clean. A cleaning brush is even included, with detailed instructions! As other reviews have stated, the grinder is loud, but no more so than other grinders. It is, after all, a coffee GRINDER! It grinds the beans slower than other grinders, but the uniform grind is worth the wait. The consistency of the grind is also easy to adjust from inside the top of the hopper. Even with the hopper half full of beans, the adjustment can still be made with no problem. The collection bin is designed extremely well. It fits snugly within the machine, sealed with a rubber gasket. No grinds escape before, during or after grinding, which means no mess on the kitchen counter. The static is minimal, so there are no problems in transferring the ground coffee from the bin to a brewing basket. The knob on the front of the unit is a light plastic, and could be designed a little better. It would also be nice to have a simple on/off button in addition to the automatic timer. Still, the grinder works great. I have had a couple of Bunn coffeemakers, and the service has been outstanding. I have no doubt that the service behind this grinder will be the same. Replacement grinder parts can be easily ordered, and an electronic version of the owner's manual is readily available on the Bunn website. Also, whenever Bunn customer service is called, a real, live person answers the phone, rather than just an automated voice prompt! I've seen the reviews and am aware of the hype for other coffee grinders. From my experience though, you just can't beat a Bunn! "Grind not chop" The coffee tastes so much fuller after the beans are actually ground verses chopped as previously done by our old "grinder".

Bunn BCG-B Professional Quality Home Coffee Grinder, Black
Why I buy this one ? - The only home coffee grinder built to industrial quality and performance standards - Unique multi-stage grinding system insures the very best flavor - Extra heavy duty, high performance motor and drive train ensures reliability - Uses commercial grinding burrs - Safety switch prevents grinding of beans before the coffee collector is ready What our customer's say! "It grinds too coarse.", The Grinder is well made and we have had it for 5 years. But it never ground the coffee fine so you end up using more beans than you might with another product. We are retiring our Bunn. There is nothing more I would want than an american made coffee grinder. But this one is incapable of producing a fine grind for espresso. "Dissapointing for a Bunn product", Replaced my old Krups when it finally wore out. Should have gotten another Krups. The grind is nowhere as good as the Krups. I have cleaned and taken the cutters out and checked them but does not matter. Have to turn the timer all the way about 3 to 4 times to get enough coffee to make a pot of coffee. Something I did with the Krups in a few seconds. Makes a good paperweight. Bunn should stck to coffeemakers. Love my commercial machine. "You'll Never Go Back to Ground Coffee", This thing makes fresh ground coffee quickly and easy. Sure, you get a few grounds on the counter, but that is the price you pay for perfect coffee. Based on other reviews I read here before I bought, I was amazed at how QUIET this thing was. You heard me right, quiet. Why even our can opener makes more noise, I have no idea why others would complain. "deluxe grinder", Less noisy than my previous Braun grinder. Despite rubber seal on grounds chamber, grinds still leak out onto counter, but not excessively. Grind adjustment knob is inconveniently located in bean compartment. No fine adjustment for expresso. Stores a pound of beans which is more than other retail burr grinders. Seems better constructed than my Braun. Hope it is as dependable as my Bunn coffeemaker. "It was what I was looking for.", I have used Bunn products in the past, therefore I am familiar with their quality. It was what I was looking for. Thank you for carrying it. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "worth the money", Like all purchases, I hesistated on this grinder. Now that I've had it for a couple of months, I'm glad I got it. I moved up from a Capresso unit that was flimsy, loud, and left a big mess. This one is none of those things. When I pull the drawer out with my grinds, it does so neatly and smoothly, breaking a small seal betweem the grind compartment and the unit. I dump the grinds into my filter, put the drawer back, and there are little to no grinds anywhere but in the coffee maker. It takes up less space than the Capresso or many others that I've seen. Sure, the grind settings are inside, but I haven't changed it ever since I found the first one I need. The one flaw? The cup numbers on the gauge are off- I use the 12 cup setting for 6 cups. I'm used to it by now, but how did they come up with these numbers? This is a winner and worth the extra money. It doesn't feel cheap and I still love my morning coffee ritual. "You get what you pay for.", It is worth the money. It grinds the beans into consistently-sized particles, unlike my old grinder. It is easy-to-use. Mine is over two years old and has been trouble-free. As far as some others' comments about the noise, it is a coffee grinder, so it is not going to as be quiet as a toaster. My old grinder was also noisy, except that it made a very annoying high-pitched noise. Static electric charge is almost non-existent. Its rectangular shape requires miminal counter space. And finally, it is nice-looking - a rare thing these days when almost all small appliances are ugly and look like medical devices! "Bunn BCG-W Coffee grinder", This unit seems to be well built, but is over priced. The quality of the ground beans tends to be inconsistent, some fine and coarse chunks in the finished product. Takes too long to grind, as beans pop around in the hopper like popcorn, taking a full turn of the timer to grind close to 4 cups worth. My Bodum conical grinder works better, at half the price. "Surprisingly low quality, for a Bunn", I have nothing but respect for Bunn, usually. We swear by their coffee makers. But it's hard for me to believe this grinder is from the same company. The dial on the front -- which regulates the amount of coffee you grind -- feels fragile and flimsy, as if it might snap off. The dial for fineness of grind is inside the coffee bean chamber... UNDER the beans. If you want to adjust the grind once the beans are in there, you either have to empty the chamber, or feel around to turn the knob without being able to see where it's pointing. In our case that hardly mattered, because the grinder produced huge particles no matter what setting we used. I'm not talking about the coarse grind needed for French press -- rather, the pieces were about 1/8". Clearly, it was defective. As others have mentioned, it was unusually noisy. Coffee grinders tend to be loud, but this one was abnormally loud. "If you drink espresso, this is the one!", After trying a number of inexpensive and unsatisfactory replacements to my old Melitta burr grinder I finally bit the bullet and spent a lot more on the Bunn. It was well worth it! Complaints about noise notwithstanding, this grinder delivers the perfect grind, from coarse to extremely fine, without fail and without a stutter. Our morning ritual demands a few perfect cups of espresso, and the Bunn grinder makes that quite possible. ![]() |
