"It does what it claims, but..."
I purchased one of these in black for use in my shop and one in white as a gift for my mom.

The one that I am using daily has a small defect that may prove to be a quirk of the one I received or a broader defect that you may encounter.

The dispensing valve allows a small amount of water to leak out of the tank. The base of the unit then simply allows the water to run off and onto whatever it is sitting on. I solved this by simply laying a rag over the bottom. The water evaporates from the rag faster than the leak.

The only other issue is that the bottom is not open like it's predecessor. This does not allow for the filling of taller mugs or some soup bowl prepared foods.

All and all, it functions the way in need and is priced reasonable for what you get.

"Love the Hot Shot!"
I bought this hot shot for my Grandmother. Our family (me, my mother and Grandmother) have had these for as long as I remember. They are very durable, even with the terrible hard water our homes have. For a while my Grandmother had one of the plug in tea pots and she scalded her arm reaching over the pot for a cup for her tea water. I think it's impossible to get burned on the Hot Shot. We LOVE it!

"Sunbeam Hot Shot"
This product heats water to boiling in about 30 seconds. Wonderful for making hot chocolate, tea, etc. My only complaint is that it tends to drip a little water out if water is left standing in the unit. A previous Hot Shot that I had did not have this problem.

"Nice for someone who makes single "cuppas" several times a day"
This is a great little gadget. My fella drinks three or four cups of hot tea a day, as well as one or two cups of coffee - but he won't touch a tea kettle or coffee pot. Each cup has to be made fresh. He loves this gadget because he can make the individual servings, never has left-overs to throw away - and has his fresh-made beverage in just seconds. We highly recommend this as a gift, office, or personal-use item.
