"Space Space, Save Money w/ the SpaceSaver"
The Brita SpaceSaver did exactly what I wanted and expected it to do. Provided me with crystal clear and great tasting water but also saving space in my fridge. I will personally vouch that the taste is great.

One minor setback of this pitcher is the lid did not fit snug/flush to the pitcher itself. I haven't noticed any leaking/spills from it, and had already knew about the small imperfection. I didn't want to go through the hastle of getting a replacement top because it's not a problem at all. Note to new Brita users: Do not pour water when water is remained unfiltered in the above resorvoir or YOU WILL SPILL EVERYWHERE!

I rated the product overall a 4/5 because it was cost efficient, saved space in my small apartment fridge, and only had the lid setback. I have referred this exact pitcher to all of my friends in the same living situation as me, and those that are just trying to save a dime.

SAVE MONEY?
Cost of Brita SpaceSaver w/ 3 Filters = $48
Should last a total of 8 months (comes w/ one filter) 1 filter - 2 months

Cost of delivered bottled water = $30 per month (2x 5gallon, 1x case of water bottles) TOTAL: $240 for 8 months.

Brita - Bottled Water = Saved: $192!!!

"Product Okay; Betters Specs Needed"
This pitcher is well-designed, and tucks into the fridge nicely. The water taste is somewhat improved. I find the top is too easily dislodged, but this is a minor annoyance.

The worst feature of this product is that the specifications for what impurities, exactly, the filter removes, seem to be unavailable. Vague promises in the accompanying product literature casually group various contaminants together with the promise that the filter removes ninety-something per cent of these. It seems unlikely to me that it does equally well for all the contaminants listed; in my opinion, this type of average statistic is largely useless. I'd like to know, for example, what percentage of chlorine should be removed. My filter does not seem to remove chlorine particularly well.

One might think that this type of information would be available on the manufacturer's web page. I tried to find specs there. There are pages and pages of graphics-rich irrelevant material that one must wade through. Then, finally, when one gets to the description of the product, there are no specifications on that page, and no link to a specs page.
Eventually, almost by accident, I discovered the FAQs page, hidden behind the customer support page. As best I could determine, it offered only the same vague promises listed above.

"Hate the spout!"
This Brita pitcher leaves much to be desired. I never write these reviews, but just had to for this one. Yes, the filtration system leaves the water tasting great, BUT....
1. It leaks a little.
2. There is often a little bit of charcoal residue in the bottom of the pitcher AFTER soaking for 15 minutes and rinsing any visible residue off and fitting into the space very securely.
3. I hate the spout.!!! About a quarter of the time I go to pour myself a glass of water, the spout stays shut and water goes all over the counter or floor in front of the fridge, or wherever I am pouring water into something.

I wont' be buying this brand again.

"Great filtering- TERRIBLE pitcher"

Well, the water's terrific -- but no matter how many times we try to asemble, reassemble and figure out the architecture of the pitcher, the thing leaks when you pour -- and leaks a lot. So it's essentially useless. I wonder what rocket scientist designed such a device. Maybe they can get a job at NASA.

"Great tasting water"
Works as advertised.
WE have to fill it often, but only because the water tastes so good, we are drinking more.
Great product for the money.

What our customer's say!

"Great tasting water, very poor pitcher design", I love the taste of the water filtered through this pitcher. We've stopped buying bottled water since we got it. But the pitcher design is HORRIBLE. The part of the lid that fits into the pitcher is is maybe a couple of millimeters tall so it barely stays on. When you the reservoir is filled to near the top and you tilt the pitcher even slightly backwards, water leaks into the two-part handle and down the bottom. The flap that covers the spout does not always open easily and it's very easy to dump the top and spill water all over the place. 5 stars for taste, only 1 star for the horrible design. It's hard to believe that Brita didn't do any product testing before putting this on the market.

"One bad leaky filter", At first sight it looks like a great filter but then the problems start. first they left a hole on the top of the filling container so when you fill it to the top what I would expect people to do water start colleting in the handle and then leaking out. Second the top is not secure enough it fall of when pooring.

"Great water, flawed pitcher", I have to agree with most of the other reviews. The water is clear & tastes right but the pitcher is a disaster. Once we had a bad filter that left the charcoal residue, but if we soak the filter in cold water for 10 mins then run cold water through it for a few seconds before installing it, the water is excellent. However...the pitcher could not be more flawed. The lid, despite all attempts refuses to stay seated on the pitcher. When pouring, the lid usually falls off or pops loose causing massive leakage & annoyance. The most ridiculous design feature though is at the top of the handle, inside the water reservoir...there's a hole where the handle attaches to the pitcher. SO, if the pitcher is A) over-filled or B) Not over-filled, but slightly jostled (such as the movement induced by returning the recently filled pitcher to the refrigerator) the water will go through the hole, down the handle and leak everywhere. There's a funky plastic piece inside the handle which keeps it from leaking all at once. That way you don't necessarily notice the handle is full of water immediately and your refrigerator is full of spilled water the next time you open it. My husband is not very conscious of this fact so I keep an empty cereal bowl in the refrigerator on the shelf below the water pitcher to catch all of the water that leaks down the handle.

"Brits space saver pitcher not up to standard", This pitcher is unbalanced because the designer felt it must fit into a refrigerator door These dimensions makes it unwieldy when full and especially if the top reservoir is full too.

The lid does not fit into the reservoir properly and falls out when the pitcher is tilted to pour water. Since there is a problem with fit, the gap between the top and the handle is emphasized. Somehow water seeps into the hollow handle only to drip out slowly. Once in the refrigerator, if unnoticed, there will be water on any objects standing beneath it.

Brita water pitchers offer many benefits. It is a shame this one's design shortcomings overshadow its good properties. This model should be returned to the drawing boards

"This is a great product", I bought this in March-April of this year while I was in Los Angeles to save me from lugging water bottles upstairs and back down to take them to the recycling center. When I got back on the road, it was easy to use in motel rooms. I used it to fill my water bottle to drink from during the day while it was packed back into its box in the trunk of my car. Over time, I learned that it leaks when I pour ONLY because I filled it past the stated 48 oz. capacity. Many of the other complaints I've read about here, from charcoal residue to use of hot water, would have been resolved, IMO, if they had only read and followed the instructions in the User's Guide that also contains a Performance Data Sheet specifying the contaminents, reduction percentages, and other info. I have a Pur faucet filter for my kitchen sink with the 3-stage filter that adds minerals back for better taste, but this Brita pitcher produces much better tasting water and fits neatly on my refrigerator door shelf now that I'm back home. I'm greatly satisfied with this pitcher and recommend it highly both for home use and for road trips.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Brita pitcher", I got the 2-quart model so that it's not so heavy when pouring out the water. Actually, it's two quarts if you also count the amount of water that's in the top part of the pitcher, before it is filtered.

In the past I've used the Brita Ultramax with the spigot so that it's easier to dispense water but I found that mold grew too quickly on that (on the spigot). With the 2-quart model sometimes I get a small amount of black mold around the edges of the lid but I wash out the pitcher at least weekly and that helps.

I think Brita is great. It's been in our household for years and makes the water taste great.

"Decent quality product...", All right, so the pitcher that the filter comes with, is literally a $1 store special--very very cheap plastic prone to leaking, BUT, the filter seems to work great and will make your water drinkable. One caveat, when your filter starts to get full, and you pour water, it'll likely leak a bit, which is super annoying (goes back to the cheap pitcher). So you can avoid this by not filling it to the brim.

Another reviewer mentioned bits of charcoal in the water, I have not had this problem at all. This could be because he did not soak his filter for 15 minutes in water before first time use. Or it could be because he got a bad filter.

The things has saved me a ton of money on bottled water, so I'd recommend it for anyone in NYC who doesn't trust the sometimes brown flowing water. But if you're used to your tap water, you might just want to save the money and the hassle.

"Water is yummie. Pitcher design is not.", Delicious water and the filters last far longer than Britta lets on ;)

On the other hand the pitcher does not fully seal so if you have water that reaches above the buttom of the fill-up reservoir, then the pitcher is likely to leak when you pour some water. And leak a LOT. Everywhere.

And Britta should enter the 21st Century and make a product that is dishwasher safe (this is not!).

"For better or worse?", Doesn't anyone else get charcoal residue in the bottom of their pitcher? I do and so does our neighbor. I've even made sure to run water thru a new filter more than the recommended number of times. There is still a fine accumulation of charcoal powder in the bottom of the pitcher. You can write your name in it. The company admits to it, but there are even floating chunks of charcoal in the top chamber. Can't they design it so this doesn't happen. Make you wonder if it's better to drink the water straight from the tap!

"Brita filter", I have used a Brita filter water pitcher for many years, and I love it! The directions clearly state not to use hot water, and the filter snaps into place in order for the water to filter through properly. When my daughter visits, she says, "I'd like a glass of Brita water!" :)
