Others say...

"Great!"
I have been using this product for quite a while now and I love it. It works wonderfully, and the water filter helps take any bitterness out of the coffee. I also like the gold reusable filter that comes with it. It is easy to clean, and is environmentally friendly in that you don't have to use any paper filters. I would definitely recommend it, I love this coffeemaker! :)

"Not that great!"
I bought it cos a lot of reviews stated that it produced good hot coffee, but I must say that I was disappointed. It does seem to have a higher power rating than most regular coffee makers and I thought it would brew hotter coffee, but it didn't. Maybe mine is just a defective unit?? Unlikely. I will test it at some point with a thermometer.

Secondly, the drip releasing hot water over the coffee is just one hole. I don't get it. Why did they do that? That leaves the coffee on the sides untouched, cos it mainly drips through the center. Rather stupid if you ask me. I'm going to see if there's some way I can mod it to spread the hot water a bit more.

"steam and little drips"
I've had this model for a couple of years now and initially did quite a bit of research before making the purchase here on amazon. Overall I have been pretty happy with it and feel it was a good purchase and priced right. I am now looking at replacing it but only because I want a stainless steel thermal carafe. I drink my coffee slowly and am tired of my third cup tasting burnt. Any suggestions on a programmable model with a good stainless steel carafe? Braun doesn't make one...too bad because I would have purchased from them again.

Aesthetics:
Upon first receiving I was a little disappointed with the upper portion of the machine. (the gray part that houses the filter) Looking at the pictures online, I thought the gray was going to have more of a metal/stainless steel look to it. It's just gray plastic. Other than that, I really like the design and think it looks nice on my kitchen counter.

Function:
I love the water filter featured on this model. I haven't had any trouble finding and ordering replacement filters and they are reasonably priced.
The complaints I do have on function are minor but here they are:
1) Excessive steam created when brewing a pot. All coffee pots I've had did this, so I'm not knocking this machine too much for this problem. It's just annoying for me because I store it on the counter under kitchen cabinets so I've always had to pull the machine out to the edge of the counter while it is brewing.
2) When I brew a full pot the first cup poured must be poured very slowly or I get a lot of drips. After that first slow pour, I can pour as I normally would without a major drip issue.

"Great tasting, Quick brewing"
This is an excellent coffee maker that makes hot, tasty coffee QUICKLY. Fastest brewing machine I've ever owned. I only gave it 4 stars because there are a few negatives to the machine - though I don't think they take away from the overall quality of the item.

PROS:
~ Great tasting coffee thanks to the filtering system
~ Quick brew time
~ Includes a gold filter (no need for paper filters) BUT - it does accommodate paper filters if you want to use them
~ Programmable and easy to use
~ Auto-off feature which you can customize
~ Great size and looks great on the counter

CONS - which aren't that bad:
~ It lets out a bit too much steam at the end of the brewing cycle (I just move it away from under the cabinets when brewing)
~ Cost of purchasing additional filtering units (but this is optional - there is a way to bypass the filtering system)

In response to other reviews about the carafe leaking when pouring and moisture/condensation after brewing, I would say that this machine is no worse than any other machine out there. If you pour too quickly, you're going to spill it. The lid isn't screwed on - it's on a hinge - so if there is too much liquid coming out, it lifts up. Just slow down or lift up the lid a bit when pouring. The moisture/condensation was no more or less than any other machine I've owned.

Overall - a great coffee maker for the price. Highly recommended.

"Braun"
Gotta have my coffee every morning and don't like to wait very long. If you don't use the auto timer so it's ready for you when you get up you can still get 10 cups of great coffee in about 7 minutes. It's not your $20 coffee maker though. I had one of those before I decided to step up to this Braun. The Gold filter and the Brita water filter combine to make one very smooth pot of coffee.

What our customer's say!

"Bad Deal", Braun KF580-BK AromaDeluxe 10-Cup TimeControl Coffeemaker, BlackWatch Sellers return policy / bought this coffee maker from Electronics/ worked for 3 mo. and will not work now, notified seller only to be told I had to have all original packaging in order to return for exchange & of course I am not in the habit of storing all packaging when I purchase an item.I am out the money and the store got rid of a faulty coffee maker,I would say a pretty good DEAL for them not ME. macer46

"LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Braun", This was purchased as a replacement for my 16-year old Braun. I LOVE the new style and it brews as well. It's a bit more compact than my older model, and brews fabulous coffee. I would buy it again and again. But I don't expect to have to buy another one for a long time since this appliance line has longevity! It does come with a Brita filter which I don't use - we have fabulous water in this area - but it's a nice option if you need to use filtered water.

"Not worth the money", I have owned this coffee maker for about a month. It is just a coffee maker, and no more. The coffee is not hot enough for my tastes, and there are virtually no features worth discussing except that it has the swing away basket which makes it easy to fill with coffee. I am truly disappointed in this product.

"Not the Best", This coffee maker leaves a lot to be desired. The coffee is not as hot as I would like it to be. The old Braun coffee makers were far superior to this one. It does not have the functions of the old ones, where you could set the strength. It also does not have an alert to tell you coffee is finished or that the pot is shutting off. I am somewhat disappointed in this coffee maker.

"Don't buy if you want strong coffee", Bought this model in white. Loved a lot about it. The basket swings out easily at the push of a button. It has easy buttons on the front and the water container is nice and wide.It is not overly tall. The carafe does not drip and has an ergonomic handle. The coffee is really hot but the hot water
jettisons out and pushes the grinds in the filter to the sides which makes for a weak cup of coffee.Today I will bring this coffeemaker back and will probably get a Black&Decker for half the price.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Not for the 1 and 2 cup crowd", I purchased this unit after reading another review saying it won some award for best tasting coffee. I thought that I would like that the coffee is hotter than my old Black & Decker unit, except it is so hot the coffee tastes scalded to me. Also, using the same Star Bucks coffee as in my previous unit, the coffee produced comes out quit silty. I only make 2 cups at a time and think it may produce a better cup if one were making a 6,8 or 10 cups. The only postive I can think of is it is aesthetically pleasing.

"I bought an upscale product?", Within 2 weeks, the pause & brew didn't exist. The coffee poured all over when I tried to pull the carafe for a cup. My attempts at fixing it were for naught. What a waste of money! I'm not one who returns items. I just won't buy Braun again!.

"It did not pass the audition", Original review: I just brought this home today and have made the first pot o' joe with it. Prior to this, I've been using a Krups Moka Brew which I was really tired of having to deal with and was continually dissatisfied with the coffee it made. After one use of this Braun, my impressions are as follows: first cup quite good & flavorful using some gourmet beans, and the temperature pretty hot! The second cup, for some reason, seemed to lose a bit of the flavor of the first cup. Too soon to say if this will be the norm - if it is, I'll probably take this back to the store. But for now, I'll keep it for a day or two, experiment with more coffee, slightly different grind, etc. and see what happens. I've been drinking coffee and trying different coffemakers for many years so I'm quite finicky about my coffeemaker & the cup it produces. A follow-up review will be posted once I decide if this is a keeper or not, but I do know it makes better coffee than the Krups Moka Brew and it's heck of a lot user-friendlier. UPDATE - Well, I really wanted to like this coffeemaker but it has a couple of problems. Firstly, the full coffee flavor isn't quite there like I was hoping it would be for an 80-dollar coffeemaker. Secondly, when it's finishing up the brewing process, it steams like a locomotive. This product did make coffee very hot but, again, the flavor wasn't all there, so I think this model is a missed opportunity for Braun. If they can come up with a model that truly gets full bean extraction at the temperature this machine makes the coffee, they'll have a winner. Back to the store this one goes.

"Bad Unit", Wish I had heeded the advice of most of the reviewers before I purchased this. I went ahead and purchased this because it was replacing a Braun coffee maker that we had had for 10 - 15 years. After it got the new plastic taste out of it, it made good coffee. Even without the Brita Filter. Just like all the reviewers indicated, the carafe leaked and spilled badly unless you poured very slowly and carefully. Unfortunately, it has quit working after only 2 1/2 months. The seller, Etronics, is declining to do anything about it saying it is now outside of their 30 return period. That will be the last thing I buy through them. Like uhh, since they sell Braun, one would think they would have some recourse through Braun and try to help their customers. So, here I am between the proverbial rock and a hard place, try to find a Braun warranty center and wait for it to get repaired or replaced, or just bite the bullet an go buy another. (want to bet it won't be a Braun?) Additionally, what do we do for coffee in the mean time? Such are the hazards of purchasing an electric appliance on the internet.

"Just Stopped Working & Not Even 1 Year Old!!!!", I loved this coffeemaker, until it just suddenly stopped working and it isn't even 1 year old!! Previous coffeemakers I owned have lasted years and years. I expect more from a coffeemaker that cost over $[...]+. Now I have to find the warranty card and go through all that hassle. I am NOT a happy customer.
