Others say...
"Windchaser Fan--the Best" This company puts out the best, most durable, reliable, amazing product. The Windchaser air circulator (or fan, as you will) pulls in air from a broad area and sweeps it up and around in quiet, powerful air currents. It can be low and still give you a lot of movement, or high, and even that isn't loud and obnoxious, but it moves air! I've had some of mine for several years, still working well like little old troopers. I bought two more this year. I have one in every room and two in the living area because I have no air condioning. With the house closed from the heat they are very effective in relieving discomfort as they swirl air all over the place. Reasonable on electricity, and the rotating motion of the front grill does a lot of work without drawing much. All my friends and family have been converted, and my neighbor just bought two and loves them! They are superior to regular fans by a ton, and why more stores don't stock them, I don't know. They stock the cheap, push it in your face one way fans which can't hold a candle to a fan with rotating or circulating design. Windchaser products, from my long experience with them, are very well-built and reasonably priced. The remote is a godsend when you've gone to bed and forgot to shut it off, and it operates across a wide expanse of room. Of course, the timer is great for going to bed and asking the fan to shut off in an hour or 3 or 4. Very nice features on this fan, and I prefer it to the ionization one for various reasons. I've used the oscillating standing fan, too, and that is an excellent fan if you want it taller. I find the floor fans of this size are able to move a lot of air upwards, since it tilts, and I don't miss the standing fan. Great buy, you won't regret it. "A flimsy boon." I was left with disastrous balance after a tumor was removed from my Cerebellum shortly before the Persian Gulf War, and I have to lean heavily on a walker to get around. Therefore I don't like unnecessary walking, especially during the middle of the night. I also don't like hot rooms. It's a bad combination, since during the summer my bedroom becomes stifling, hot, and airless. My house in Costa Mesa, CA is much too "centrally located," (i.e. noisy,) to leave my window open. When I get up to use the bathroom in the middle of a summer night (and I always have to,) I want to switch on the air conditioner for the few minutes I'm out of the room. The a.c. is on the other side of the room than the bathroom, but that's O.K., because it has a remote. (I love remote-control units, and so would you if you were handicapped.) The problem is that the a.c. unit has a typically anemic little fan. It needs all the help it can get for the 4-5 minutes it's on. I had a conventional desk fan, but I had to push the damn walker `round my bed to switch the noisy thing on and off, a real bummer, so I searched the Internet for a desk fan with a remote, and there wasn't a wide selection. I came across this model on the Amazon site, the customer reviews were good, and even though it was back-ordered (which I hate,) I grudgingly ordered it. I ordered it on Thursday, July 21st (2005,) and resigned myself for a long wait. (To make things worse, we were having a heat-wave then.) Astonishingly, it came on Monday the 25th. Disappointingly, it looked pretty flimsy for a $45 fan, with the "feel" of an item made in China. (If it's not, then I apologize to "Windchaser." I couldn't find a "made in" sticker anywhere.) The remote did not work as the owner's manual led me to believe it would, nor would the front grill rotate. (Which it's supposed to do to provide oscillation.) Fortunately, none of these affected my long-term enjoyment of this fan. All the fan controls are on a simple "toggle switch" principle, and anyway the fan always turns on to the same setting. A piece of packing material was caught in front grill, and after I removed it and gave a nudge with my fingers it started rotating like a champion. The six-bladed fan circulates a lot of air, (much more quietly than my old fan,) and gives my air-conditioning unit the assistance it needs to lower the temperature in my room the critical two or three degrees, and I love the fact it's remotely controlled. A mark-up that must be over 100% doesn't make this fan absurdly over-priced in this sad era. "A Great Product at Twice the Price!" I know, because last year I bought the identical fan (excuse me, "air circulator") at [a store] for twice what I'm ordering this second one! I keep this fan in my bedroom window during the summer to keep the air circulating and to pull in the cooler evening air. You can position the rotating grille to direct the air flow as desired, or just let it oscillate. The remote control is wonderful--if I awaken in the middle of the night and find that I'm too cool (or not cool enough) I can make the necessary adjustments without having to get out of bed and trip over one of the cats. Although this isn't as quiet as a Vornado (which I also have), I can go to sleep with it set on the low or medium setting. I'm buying this fan to place in my west-facing living room window to help cool off in the evenings.

What our customer's say! "Excellent and durable", Sharper Image actually sold this fan under their name for a lot more money. I bought that one with a Xmas gift certificate and have been totally happy with it. It's still running great after 5 years of heavy use (I used it summer and winter for air circ and white noise at night), but I ordered this Windchaser so I'd be sure to have a backup. It's quiet, it's pretty strong, it's got a few bells and whistles, it's great! "windchaser remote control fan", I was disappointed with a couple of things.First the size of the fan was way smaller than I had anticipated. Second the fan tips over when it is set on high as the force of the "wind" pushes it over. Later I found a tower fan with remote on sale for the same price and it performs a lot better. "It's a fan, it blows air around", I've had the fan for a couple months, it works fine. The remote control works fine as long as you position the fan so that the infrared sensor can 'see' the remote. The unit is very thin, which allows it to sit in a window. I usually have it exhausting hot air from the room in the daytime and blowing in the cool air at night. I have no complaints at all on any aspect of the unit and I'm glad I bought it. "Tilts and falls", I find two flaws with this product. First, when tilted even slightly, it falls. Secondly, it does not tilt forward only backward. "Does what I need it to do...", The product arrived quickly and in perfect working order (note that I live in Hawaii). I use it to supplement my air conditioner which doesn't circulate the entire room well. This fan is a bit noisier than I expected. However, I still use it on low speed at night (despite being a light sleeper). I don't particularly care for the intermittent "wind" settings since that significantly increases the noise level of operation. The remote control is an excellent feature since I have the unit placed on top of a bookshelf where I can't reach or see the on-unit controls. Love the relatively compact size (didn't want a stand type fan but these box fans are sorta hard to find). Thanks, Amazon, for offering a good product! ![]()
