"Cuisinart Hand Blender"
This hand blender is heavy duty. I like the 2-speed feature.
It is easy to clean, handy and it comes with a nice beaker, but
works of course in all kind of vessels. You just can't beat
Cuisinart quality!

"Purchase a super hand blender!!"
Amazon sells the two best (I know that is gramatically incorrect since there can be only 1 'best'.).

Cuisinart:
1) $15 less, even taking into account the $5 KitchenAid rebate.
2) Nylon guard which means the preparer may use right in the cooking vessel.
3) Longer warranty (18 mos. versus 12 mos. KitchenAid).

KitchenAid:
1) Multi-speed (versus 2-speed for the Cuisinart).
2) Mixing attachment is removable which means easier storage.
3) Choice of colors (for those who care).

In using the Cuisinart for the first time, I made a wonderful discovery. Save that old carafe. For purees of large quantities of Italian tomatos, it is, in combination with this wonderful Cuisinart Quick Prep Hand Blender, a wonderful substitute for the 'food mill' suggested in my pasta cookbook (and much more stable than the hard plastic cup included with the blender). Both will clean up like a dream and the Pyrex pot has a further advantage of a pouring spout. From sauce pot to carafe to blending to container to fridge (including cleanup of all) took only about ten minutes!

"Quite a handy gadget"
Emeril Lagasse calls these "boat motors." Of course he probably uses the professional Waring version that costs over $100. I find this much less expensive model to be quite well built with a powerful motor (it actually pulls itself down into the sauce). Clean up is simple enough- simply run it in a bowl of hot soapy water. I recommend it.

"Great for blending, terrible for whipping cream"
The blender feature of this is excellent (5 stars)... it does not splash what you are mixing out onto the counter. It is also quiet and the two speeds are great.

The down sides are:

1). It does an extremely poor job (one star) of whipping small quantities of whipping cream. Models with a separate 'whip' attachment are better suited for whipping small quantities of cream. The enclosed recipe calls for a cup, and under a cup just won't work, so technically it does exactly what it says it will. Other models with a separate whip can whip < 1/4 cup of cream easily.

2). This is one-piece tool and cannot be put in the dishwasher.

"Efficient and easy"
This is a nifty little item! I bought it to make a quick smoothie or blended drink and it was fast and easy to use. The cup included is OK but I just use the glass I'm going to drink from. Less to wash. It struggles a bit with frozen strawberries and I think ice cubes would really dull the blade in a hurry. But for most anything else it's great. I'll use it next time I make split pea soup to help with smooth consistancy.

What our customer's say!

"LOVE, Love, love this product....", This is my first immersion blender and use it several times a week to cream my soups. The size is perfect, not too heavy or too big to handle. Very, very pleased with both the price and the product.

"Great product for our use", We have used ours to blend bananas, all sorts of berries, egg and to mix up our juices.

Had it about a month, no problems at all. Just be careful not to get water in the motor compartment - when you're cleaning the rotor under the hot water, it has a tendency to splash it in that direction.

"very nice product, performs as I expected", I have had this immersion blender for more than six months. It is wonderful for pureeing soups and sauces in the pot, eliminating the possibility of burning yourself when transferring hot items to the blender or food processor.

I have found that whipping cream is best done in a very cold bowl with a whisk or with a stand mixer. If you want an easy appliance for whipping cream buy a whipped cream canister that you charge with gas, they work great. Check out the ISI 2470 Thermo Whip - Polished Stainless canister at Amazon.

The product is also easy to clean if you put the blade end in a vessel of warm soapy water as the manufacturer recommends.

I highly recommend this product.

"This is the tool I've been waiting for", I don't know why it took me so long to get this blender. My daughter-in-law has one and I saw how handy it was. Anyway, I really like it. It does a fine job on drinks, mashed potatoes and sauces and it's easy to clean. I had no problem whipping just a 1/4 cup of cream in the provided container. I will probably retire my Cuisinart food processor to the pantry now, and use the hand-held mixer just for egg whites.

"Works great for my use", I use this primarily to puree soups in the pot, and for that purpose this works very well. Plenty of power, easy to control.

I also find it easy to clean, just "blend" some water with a bit of soap in it like the instruction manual suggests, then rinse clean. Making this a two-piece unit for the sake of throwing part of it in a dishwasher wouldn't improve the speed or ease of cleaning in my opinion.

There may be units available that are even more powerful and rugged, but for the money this is a 5 star item.

"Perfect for spot blending", Spot blending? Yes, indeed. I do quite a bit of cooking and this little appliance has really been handy. It will whip cream, in small amounts, without having to get out the stand mixer and clean all the attachments. It blends soups right on the stovetop, no more ladeling hot potato leek soup into the blender. It does not seem to do well for whipping egg whites. It quickly blends milkshakes (I haven't used it on anything completely frozen) and stores in a drawer out of the way. Rinses clean after use, and no worries about removing sharp blades to clean. Yes, this is a very nice treat to have in the kitchen, and I think it would make a great gift!
