"Stopped working..."
Like another reviewer I had the same problem with my Euro-Pro Fryer. After about a year of use in which the device was used about eight times it simplly stopped working. The design and ease of use is great but it seems that "Made in China" strikes again and the fryer is not made to last.

"Works great until it breaks...and it WILL break"
I've had mine for 10 months. I loved this thing and I got a good deal of use out of it. I religiously cleaned and cared for it. I wouldn't have had any complaints except this evening it just stopped working. I'm an experienced electronics engineer and technician so I took it apart and to see if I could fix it. I found the black high voltage lead to the burner element had over heated. The insulation had burned or melted over a good deal of it's length. It was worst right where it attaches to the burner The connector there was completely scorched. The 3 wires that feed the control panel are routed right past this connection and they were also melted together and likely shorted. I replaced the 3 control panel wires, but it still didn't work. I may try to replace the (black) high voltage lead but I have a feeling the control panel is already fried. Not a bad pun really...but humor aside this is a for-real fire hazard.

Big dissappointment. Just as I was making coconut shrimp too. I'd peeled 2lbs of 16-20 shrimp, hand grated fresh coconut, and made a homemade peanut dipping sauce. No shrimp tonight...now I'm sitting here fuming instead. I'm also upset that there seems to be no source of replacement parts? I'd just order a new control/heating unit if I could, but can't find one for sale.

Seems most of the good reviews here are from people who've owned one for less than a year...just you wait. My inkling is that there is an inherent design flaw. I consider myself lucky that it did not simply burst into flames, which quite easily could have. I won't be buying from Euro Pro again.

"Does the job well."
This fryer is a dependable product. It cooks well, is relatively clean to use, and easily stored when not in use. My argument with the product is that it isn't easily cleaned. The heating element must be hand washed carefully. The rest of the fryer can go into the dishwasher, however, it is bulky and should be washed alone! Also, disposing of the spent oil is cumbersome. A simple valve at the bottom of the fryer would eliminate that issue. I use this fryer for fish, french fries, shrimp, etc. I does a really good tempura.

"STAY AWAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS ONE"
DID NOT LISTEN TO REVIEWS I HAD TO BUY TO SEE HOW WELL IT FRYED LISTEN TO THE OTHER REVIEWS THAT USE IT 4 OR MORE TIMES AND STOPS WORKING TOTAL JUNK DO NOT BUY THIS ONE THE OTHER REVIEWS ARE TRUE ABOUT IT STOPING TO FRY. PS JUNK.

"Euro-Pro F1066 review"
After reading all the positives, incuding the negative responses for this product, I decided to purchase. The first three uses the product was fantastic, excellent cooking machine, everything was five-star~!... But the fourth use it would not turn on, the reset breaker would trip as soon as it was pressed, which I considered extremely annoying considering the breaker is designed to turn off the unit when the OIL becomes too hot, not tripping the unit when cold. The unit is four weeks old, the wifes frustration made her drive to Walmart and pick up another fryer, which I may review later.
So being the retired Navy radar/electronic's kind of guy I decided instead of trying to get a refund, I would just take the thing apart and see why this breaker was tripping. What I found was the one thing in electronics that has always baffled my mind, when electronic mechanical parts are made putting plastic in contact with metal, this always never works very well, and was the case of the reset breaker in this unit.
The reset breaker consists of a metal coil that expands when the oil gets hot, eventually overcoming the spring weight and removing the pressure that holds the metal power contacts (which provide the entire units power). However where the metal contacts the plastic through a sleeve, the plastic prevent the metal coil from returning to a normal position, thus the reason I could never reset the breaker. I would never recommend to anyone to perform home repair of electronics or fryers for the matter, it would be a personal choice. I was able to re-align the plastic, spring and spring coil so that the breaker was reset. The unit is now operating again, but I suspect if the unit gets to hot, the breaker will again trip and due to the plastic/metal mechanical relationship, I doubt a simple reset of the breaker will bring the unit back to an operating state. I would rate the unit a 5, but due to the poorly designed reset breaker I give it a 2, but that is only because when it does work, it works really well.

What our customer's say!

"Euro Pro Filter for Deep Fryer F1066", My filter to this deep fryer, model F1066, needs replacement--gummed up. Call to 1-800 to Euro-Pro number got a foreign speaking person, difficult to understand, but clear enough to say that they do not sell replacement filters, #20 in the manual, and he told me to buy the whole top unit for which this pop out filter easily 'pops out, you replace it and pop it back in'. No way Jose will they pull that one. I don't know what kind of game these people play not to sell a simple filter replacement part without buying the top unit it pops in and out of. So guys, they only sell the expensive replacement parts, don't think you're going to be able to buy a replaceable filter. You can't from them. Very disenfranchised owner.

"Do Not Buy! Not Worth The $ and customer service stinks!", I bought this product and it worked great at first and then stopped working all together, this was after about 4 uses. I cleaned and checked everything and then contacted customer service who told me I had to buy a new heating element for it. After complaining enough they agreed to send me another heating unit. It is now about 5 months later and the same thing has happened. This item was not even used more than a dozen times. I just got off the phone and they are telling me I need to buy another part even though there item is faulty and doesn't work right. Spend your money with another company.

"piece of junk..", Had this Europro unit. Worked five or six times, then the element quit working. Got a complete replacement. It, too, quit after half a dozen uses. Called the phone number, got someone to send a replacement element. (They wanted to charge thirty bucks shipping, but I had to talk them out of that.) New element lasted half a dozen more times, then quit.

Picked up a Presto CoolDaddy for $29.99. Works great, and only a third of the price.

"Dangerous - Do Not Buy!", I purchased this because I thought it would be a good fryer - held a lot of food in the basket,no nonstick coating inside (which is unhealthy if it gets hot), had a lid, and was easy to store. I used it about a couple of months - I fry fish alot and used it about every other week. I was concerned about the steam that came around the corners and got the control panel wet, even though I made sure the lid was on well. Then one day it got very hot and showed an error message. It scared me because it could have caught on fire - it was that hot. The grease was smoking and black as tar. The clip also fell off that the basket rested on when lifted. I tried to be very careful to not let it happen by constant monitoring, but it happened again about a year later (out of warranty of course). This time it did not come back on - it burned up. I would not recommend this fryer.

"Nice deep fryer", We needed a deep fryer that holds a lot of oil to properly make some eastern european specialty deserts (papanasi) where a proper deep fryer is necessary to have the result not taste oily. Although concerned over some of the reviews here, Amazon's price was very good and we thought it worth the risk. We're very happy we did. Some folk seemed to have problems with the interlock that requires the electronics "head" to be properly put down on the base -- but don't understand the problem, looking at it the interlock is obvious and simple and not a problem at all. The Electronics control interface is pretty simple and we use it even simpler (click it on and then set the temperature, and then click it off when done). Haven't tried to use the timer. No need. It seems to meet all the criteria I've read about what one should have in a deep fryer. It's easy to use and "fits" very well with the five quart container of Canola oil that Costco sells. Perfect!

It does take a while to heat to temperature, but I take that as good -- also means that when we drop food into it to cook the temperature doesn't drop much, and in my experience it doesn't. This, in my opinion, is critical for a deep fryer .

We've used it for other things as well (like fries) and it worked well.

But for the objective of making Papanasi, they come out absolutely perfect even if I say so myself, a perfect clone of restaurant ones eaten in Romania (this was the last step in perfecting it).

We've been delighted using it because of the great results.

"Wore it out", After 3 to 4 years I wore out my first fryer. It was the best fryer I had ever used and I used it to destruction,
The new one is improved and works even better than the first.

"Great Fryer for the Price", I LOVE this deep fryer. It is very easy to clean as all the components come apart and the fryer basin can be put into the dishwasher between oil fills. It's long and narrow so it fits easily into a tight space in my kitchen that has little counter space. The handles on the side of the unit stay cool to the touch and the outer sides of the unit stay relatively cool as well. The only complaint I would have is that you have to remove the lid before you can lift the basket out of the oil. Unlike some of the pricier units where the lid and the basket both come up simultaneously.

That aside, it fries evenly, the temperature stays even, and I like that it is all digital. It takes a little bit of time for it to heat up when set at higher temps (about 15 - 20 minutes) so be prepared and pre-heat the oil ahead of time.

I've found that in using Canola oil, I get about 5 frying sessions over 4 weeks at moderately high temp before the oil has to be changed. As for changing the oil, I just buy the big 4+ liter jugs of oil at the store, pour it all in and then save the container to put the used up oil back into when it needs changed out. Then I simply wash the basin and the basket in the dishwasher and they come out looking like brand new.

The unit can be tricky to put together just right. If it's not together just the right way, it will not work - which is not necessarily a bad thing though. Safety first. You just have to be sure you get the heating element set down into the unit all the way.

Overall, this is the easiest fryer I've ever used and takes all of the guess work out of the heating and oil temp regulation. For this price, it is a great deal and I highly recommend this product to anyone.

"Euro-Pro F1066 Deep Fryer Comments", This product is so great, it is my second one which I gave it as a gift to a friend. They told me they love it. Good for making chinese egg rolls, spanish empanadas and much more.

"At first, I thought mine stopped working too...", After I moved, I thought my fryer stopped working (as I've seen in these reviews) but I went online and downloaded the manual and realized that what happened was that we hadn't gotten it properly aligned in the "grooves" on the back... it won't turn on if it's not aligned right, it's a safety feature.

It took me three tries to line it up right, but then it turned back on and worked as it always has.

I never write product reviews, but I'd hate to see someone not buy this or even worse throw out a working fryer because they didn't have it aligned properly.

Overall a very good product for the price.

"Totally defective (Zero Stars- not one as above)", I did what I think is a fair amount of reseach before buying this product, and the Euro-Pro was bad decision. The product wouldn't even turn on, much less work. The packaging indicated it had passed Qulaity Control. whatever that means This was a Christmas gift that totally flopped. The Euro-Pro was one of the more expensive deep fryers in the store and I assumed the price was equal to the quality, boy was I wrong. If you're purchasing a deep fryer please stick to the name brands. This will be exchanged tomorrow and not for another Euro-Pro. Too bad because my 16 year old was looking forward to Deepfried Japanese dumplings for Christmas. A real disappointment
