"Don't Bother"
The blade does NOT pierce the top. I have to use a manual can opener to pierce and then run the electric to open. It splashes all over when it is finished.

"Great value/price "
This piece have a great value / price relationship, works great, have the best quality of cuisinart, the only minus its that is silver painted, and no stainless steel look.

You can buy this item, with closed eyes.

"The worst can opener I ever bought"
Openning a dog food can is nearly impossible without at least 6 or 7 tries to get the blade to catch. I bought it; I regret the purchase; I threw it out. This really hurts the cuisinart image.

"Waste of Money"
This can opener is too light for the job, is difficult to use, and does not cut cleanly.
We bought this for my elderly mother as she has trouble with the manual can openers. She asked me to throw it away after a month.

"Easily the worst can opener I've ever owned"
You're definitely paying extra for the Cuisinart name, and I'm suprised they'd put it on something so poorly designed. I was expecting more given their reputation. It's plastic, light, and not very stable. It's VERY difficult to get the can to mesh with the cutter blade ... it usually takes me three tries. The cutter arm is held on with a tiny T-shaped piece of plastic that splits easily (ask me how I know). And to top it all off, it yanks the top up and splashes food around when it's done. Don't bother ... I wish I hadn't. I feel like I've been taken.

What our customer's say!

"The simple made needlessly complex", Given that the purpose of a can opener is to open cans, it's astonishing to me how difficult it is to fit any can into the cuisinart so that the blade actually penetrates the can lid.

What you end up with, repeatedly, is a can firmly clamped into place by the magnet and spinning around merrily without the lid being cut open. At all. There's really nothing in the design that gives you a clue where to hold the can to remedy this reticence on the part of the cuisinart to fulfill its calling. You put the can under the blade and the magnet, push down until it clamps, and watch the can whirl aimlessly. The can opener is plastic, so I doubt you could use it to smash open a metal can.

I can't imagine that such a basic flaw in function could have passed unnoticed through any semblance of product testing.

So what you have is a fairly attractive, vaguely art deco (it looks streamlined) electric humming machine that might, on occasion, deign to separate a can lid from the can proper, with some judicious coaxing.

"Don't bother", I mistakenly depended on the Cuisinart name to offer a good to high quality can opener.

Ditto on all of the previously mentioned problems. I could have lived with the splashing of the can's contents after the abrupt end of it's opening, but the re-positioning it time and time again just to get it to connect correctly in order to open a can is ridiculous. Most times, it begins turning around the can, and you're thinking it's your lucky day!....just to find out that it never made the actual cut into the can!

I bought a .99 hand can opener last week as back-up, just to be sure I wouldn't be stranded on Thanksgiving day without the ability to open a can, should this one have decided not to work at all!

Funny, I own cheapie can-openers in the past that worked for many years. Make your life easier and don't waste your time, money on this one. The search for a good one continues :)

"Agree with the negative reviewers...", I agree with the negative reviewers. This can opener is not worth the money, just for the name. Cheaply made and useless.

"Cool Opener", This small appliances it's very nice for eyes, very functionaly and easy to use.

Pros: - good size
- good can support
- good Loking

Cons: - the finished are little weak, and past the time loose your shine.

"What a total POS !", This is the worst POS for a can opener that I have EVER seen! It lasted almost ONE WEEK before it fell apart. It's CRIMINAL in my opinion to ever sell something this shoddy in design, workmanship and inferior construction.

The first week the opener sort of opened cans OK but not great. By the second week the cutter head was wearing out and would not even hold the can, let alone open it.

ABSOLUTE JUNK IMNHO.

I can't believe Cuisinart would even place their name on this Chinese CRAP!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"What a Disappointment...", 1. It is PLASTIC, Cuisinart never advertised this as plastic, it has a great chrome color but plastic...boo...looks cheap
2. The Can Opener SPLATTERS way too much, what a mess.
3. Great Height and Color
Improvements are definitely needed.I'm so disappointed in Cuisinart, they used to provide quality products. This is not a quality product.

"Must have, but needs improvement", In a household where someone is always cooking something, an electric can opener is a must have, and this one fits that bill just fine. A few things we like about it are:

1- VERY quiet operation
2- TALL - you can fit just about any sized can under it
3- Extremely smooth operation. Some can openers I have used are choppy
4- Opens cans effortlessly

A few things we don't like:

1- MADE OF PLASTIC!! Although it is brushed chrome, it does not tell you anywhere that the brushed chrome is PLASTIC!
2- Splatters the contents of the can all over the place when it completely cuts the lid off. For canned veggies, no problem, you just wipe up some water. But it makes a huge mess for canned tomatoes. Never really had this problem with electric can openers before.

Overall, it is worth the [money] for the convenience, but there are a few things that could be better.

"Buy anything else you find", I have been putting up with this can opener since Dec 2001. The longer I have it the more I hate it. It has two problems:
1)It spills the contents of the can every time it's used.
2) The can top ends up with the most ragged cut you can imagine.

It does reliably grab the can and open it, and if you don't mind the problems mentioned above you may be satisfied.

"Not a great can opener", I completely agree with the reviewer from Portland. It is very difficult to get the can lined up properly and the cutting started.

Also, this unit produces a particularly sharp, jagged and nasty lid which will slice you like a razor if you are not careful.

I still use it but am looking for something else.

"Does not do the job", It is very difficult to get the blade on this can opener to pierce cans to initiate the opening process. This limits its use, particularly for larger soup cans, where often the old manual can opener needs to be used. I am unimpressed and would not recommend this item.
